5a4e47bd30 asprintf.c: Change comment to note that -1 is returned upon error. 
vasprintf.c: Likewise.	(vasprintf): Return -1 upon error.

	* hex.c (_hex_value): Make this unsigned.
	(hex_value): Update documentation for new return type.  hex_value
	now expands to an unsigned int expression, to avoid unexpected
	sign extension when we store it in a bfd_vma, which is larger than
	int on some platforms.
	* functions.texi: Regenerated.

aa072e5934 * Makefile.in (MULTIOSDIR): New macro. Use $(CC) $(LIBCFLAGS) 
instead of $$CC alone.

(REQUIRED_OFILES): Add lrealpath.o.
	(lrealpath.o): Add rule.
	* aclocal.m4 (libiberty_NEED_DECLARATION): Add.
	* configure.in: Add realpath and canonicalize_file_name to
	checkfuncs and AC_CHECK_FUNCS.  Use libiberty_NEED_DECLARATION
	for canonicalize_file_name.
	* lrealpath.c: New file.
	* make-relative-prefix.c: Update documentation.
	(make_relative_prefix): Simplify.  Use lbasename and lrealpath.
	* config.in: Regenerated.
	* configure: Regenerated.
	* functions.texi: Regenerated.
