Andreas Arnez 1b63490c91 S390: Add guarded-storage register support to GDB
Recognize targets with the new guarded-storage feature and then present
the guarded-storage registers and the Linux-specific guarded-storage
broadcast control block appropriately.

gdb/ChangeLog:

	* s390-linux-nat.c (have_regset_gs): New static variable.
	(s390_linux_fetch_inferior_registers): Handle guarded-storage
	control block and guarded-storage broadcast control regsets.
	(s390_read_description): Detect whether the target has
	guarded-storage support, return appropriate tdesc.
	* s390-linux-tdep.c (features/s390-gs-linux64.c): New include.
	(features/s390x-gs-linux64.c): Likewise.
	(struct gdbarch_tdep) <have_gs>: New field.
	(s390_regmap_gs, s390_regmap_gsbc, s390_gs_regset)
	(s390_gsbc_regset): New variables.
	(s390_iterate_over_regset_sections): Iterate over s390_gs_regset
	and s390_gsbc_regset, if applicable.
	(s390_core_read_description): Check whether core file was from a
	target with guarded-storage support; include appropriate regsets.
	(s390_gdbarch_init): Add registers for guarded-storage support.
	(_initialize_s390_tdep): Initialize new target descriptions that
	include registers for guarded-storage support.
	* s390-linux-tdep.h (HWCAP_S390_GS, S390_GSD_REGNUM)
	(S390_GSSM_REGNUM, S390_GSEPLA_REGNUM)
	(S390_BC_GSD_REGNUM, S390_BC_GSSM_REGNUM): New defines.

Andreas Arnez 9c2996c982 S390: Avoid direct access to lwp_info structure
When using the lwp_info structure, avoid accessing its members directly,
and use the advertised function interfaces instead.  This is according
to the instructions in linux-nat.h and prepares for making some of the
code common between gdb and gdbserver.

Simon Marchi 8d7493201c Replace some xmalloc-family functions with XNEW-family ones
This patch is part of the make-gdb-buildable-in-C++ effort.  The idea is
to change some calls to the xmalloc family of functions to calls to the
equivalents in the XNEW family.  This avoids adding an explicit cast, so
it keeps the code a bit more readable.  Some of them also map relatively
well to a C++ equivalent (XNEW (struct foo) -> new foo), so it will be
possible to do scripted replacements if needed.

I only changed calls that were obviously allocating memory for one or
multiple "objects".  Allocation of variable sizes (such as strings or
buffer handling) will be for later (and won't use XNEW).

architecture-specific files.  For those I'll have to rely on the
buildbot or people complaining that I broke their gdb.

Simon Marchi f486487f55 Mostly trivial enum fixes
This is a patch I extracted from Pedro's C++ branch.  It contains the
most trivial enum fixes, where an integer type/value was used instead
of the appropriate enum type/value.  It fixes many C++ errors, since
in C++ you can't mix integers and enums implicitely.

Regardless of the C++ conversion, I think this is a good cleanup to make
use of the appropriate enum types.

Regression-tested on native x86_64.

Andreas Arnez 2492f0d005 S390: Fix for inadvertently setting 24-bit mode in fill_gregset
On 64-bit S390 platforms, for programs compiled with -m31, it could
happen that GDB inadvertently cleared the inferior's 31-bit addressing
mode bit and left the inferior running in 24-bit addressing mode.  In
particular this occurred with checkpoint.exp, when the "restore"
command needed to create a new regcache copy: At the time when the
PSWM register was copied over, the addressing mode bit was taken from
the PSWA register, which was still zero since it had not been copied
yet.  And when the PSWA register was copied, the addressing mode was
not updated again.

The fix affects fill_gregset, where the bits "belonging" to each of
the PSWA and PSWM registers are now carefully separated.  The
addressing mode bit is no longer touched when writing PSWM, and --
more importantly -- it *is* written when writing PSWA.

Andreas Arnez 183961935e S390: Defer PER info update until resume
For multi-threaded inferiors on S390 GNU/Linux targets, GDB tried to
update the PER info via ptrace() in a newly attached thread before
assuring that the thread is stopped.  Depending on the timing, this
could lead to a GDB internal error.  The patch defers the PER info
update until just before resuming the thread.

Recognize S/390 targets with the new vector feature and present their
vector registers appropriately: as 32 new 128-bit wide registers
v0-v31, where the first 16 embed the floating point registers f0-f15.
Each of the full registers v0-v15 is modelled as a pseudo register.

Andreas Arnez 99b7da5d7a S390: Migrate to regcache_supply/collect_regset.
Rather than supplying own supply/collect functions, use the generic
functions regcache_supply_regset and regcache_collect_regset instead.
The register maps are rewritten accordingly and become much shorter
(and better readable) than before.

Tom Tromey 6a109b6b2c add "this" pointers to more target APIs
A subsequent pass introduces delegation helper functions to the target
API.  This delegation is much cleaner if the target_ops pointer is
directly available at delegation time.

This patch adds the "this" pointer to various to_* methods for this
purpose.

This updates a number of ports which I am unable to test.  Please give
them a look-over.  Any possible problem here is trivial, though, as
all that is required is adding an argument to a function.

Andreas Arnez 6682d9595e S390: Fix TDB regset recognition
When checking for the presence of the TDB regset, the current code
interprets ENODATA from PTRACE_GETREGSET as an indication that the TDB
regset *could* occur on this system, but the inferior stopped outside
a transaction.  However, the Linux kernel actually reports ENODATA
even on systems without the transactional execution facility.  Thus
the logic is now changed to check the TE field in the HWCAP as well.

This version also checks the existence of the TDB regset -- just to be
on the safe side when running on TE-enabled hardware with a kernel
that does not offer the TDB regset for some reason.

Ulrich Weigand 0e5fae36f1 S/390: Rename source files to *-linux-*
As suggested before, rename the S/390-related source files (tdep and nat)
such that "-linux-" occurs in the file name, like with other GNU/Linux
targets.  Since no other operating system is currently supported by GDB
on this architecture, this isn't strictly necessary.  But the old names
sometimes caused GDB contributors to miss these files when performing a
change that affects all GNU/Linux targets.  The latest such incident was
observed here:
