6cc22cf4df PR 78534, 84509 Fix libgfortran API for PAUSE statement
This patch changes the libgfortran API for the PAUSE statement. By
passing a GFC_INTEGER_8 it handles -fdefault-integer-8, and for the
character version passing the length as a size_t.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, committed as obvious.

3f5fabc0ea Character length cleanup for Coarray Fortran library
Following the change to use size_t for Fortran character lengths (PR
78534), this patch modifies the Coarray ABI in a similar way. The
single-image implementation that is included in libgfortran is
updated, but this needs corresponding work in the OpenCoarray library
as well for multi-image support. I also fixed the types for the STOP
and ERROR STOP implementation in libgfortran, as the calling of them
is somewhat intertwined with the calling of the corresponding CAF
functions. I'll send the OpenCoarray changes as a separate pull
request to the OpenCoarrays repository.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.

14e335edc8 CET shouldn't be enabled in 32-bit run-time libraries by defualt
ENDBR32 and RDSSPD are multi-byte NOPs on x86-64 processors and
newer x86 processors, starting Pentium Pro. They are UD on older
32-bit processors. Detect this at configure time and adjust the
default value for enable_cet. GCC will enable CET in 32-bit run-time
libraries in any case if --enable-cet is used to configure GCC.

7a15726687 Use pointer sized array indices.
Using pointer sized variables (e.g. size_t / ptrdiff_t) when the
variables are used as array indices allows accessing larger arrays,
and can be a slight performance improvement due to no need for sign or
zero extending, or masking.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.

4135a21f4d PR 78534 Regression on 32-bit targets
By switching from int to size_t in order to handle larger values,
r256322 introduced a bug that manifested itself on 32-bit
targets. Fixed by using the correct type to store the result of a
next_array_record call.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu and i686-pc-linux-gnu, committed to
trunk as obvious.

libgfortran/ChangeLog:

	PR 78534, bugfix for r256322
	* io/transfer.c (next_record_w): Use correct type for return value

ea99ec5bd6 PR 78534, 83704 Handle large formatted I/O
In order to handle large characters when doing formatted I/O, use
size_t and ptrdiff_t for lengths. Compared to the previous patch,
based on discussions on IRC use size_t for sizes that don't need to be
negative rather than ptrdiff_t everywhere.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, approved as part of the PR 78534
approval, committed to trunk.

2412750e79 PR libgfortran/83649 Chunk large reads and writes
It turns out that Linux never reads or writes more than 2147479552
bytes in a single syscall. For writes this is not a problem as
libgfortran already contains a loop around write() to handle short
writes. But for reads we cannot do this, since then read will hang if
we have a short read when reading from the terminal. Also, there are
reports that macOS fails I/O's larger than 2 GB. Thus, to work around
these issues do large reads/writes in chunks.

The testcase from the PR

program largewr
  integer(kind=1) :: a(2_8**31+1)
  a = 0
  a(size(a, kind=8)) = 1
  open(10, file="largewr.dat", access="stream", form="unformatted")
  write (10) a
  close(10)
  a(size(a, kind=8)) = 2
  open(10, file="largewr.dat", access="stream", form="unformatted")
  read (10) a
  if (a(size(a, kind=8)) == 1) then
    print *, "All is well"
  else
    print *, "Oh no"
  end if
end program largewr

fails on trunk but works with the patch.

Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, committed to trunk.

2563a16d3c PR 44292 Handle large record lengths
Now that the ABI supports large record lengths, there's a few places
in libgfortran where we need to use larger types. For internal units
which by definition are in-memory, it's enought to use ptrdiff_t, for
external units gfc_offset.

a7037861a7 PR 83036 Make NEXTREC specifier for INQUIRE work for large record numbers
This is accomplished by making the NEXTREC specifier be a 8 byte
integer where supported.

I wasn't able to come up with a testcase that does not create a large
file that could be added to the testsuite, but here's one which
creates a 2 GB file:

program nextrec
  implicit none
  integer(8) :: ii, n
  open(10, file="foo.dat", recl=1, access="direct", form="unformatted", &
       status="replace")
  do ii = 1, huge(1) + 2_8
     write(10, rec=ii) 'a'
  end do
  inquire(10, nextrec=n)
  if (n /= huge(1) + 3_8) then
     call abort()
  end if
  close(10, status="delete")
end program nextrec
