/*
* Three (3) kinds of logo maps exist. linux_logo_clut224 (>16 colors),
* linux_logo_vga16 (16 colors) and linux_logo_mono (2 colors). Depending on
* the visual format and color depth of the framebuffer, the DAC, the
* pseudo_palette, and the logo data will be adjusted accordingly.
*
* Case 1 - linux_logo_clut224:
* Color exceeds the number of console colors (16), thus we set the hardware DAC
* using fb_set_cmap() appropriately. The "needs_cmapreset" flag will be set.
*
* For visuals that require color info from the pseudo_palette, we also construct
* one for temporary use. The "needs_directpalette" or "needs_truepalette" flags
* will be set.
*
* Case 2 - linux_logo_vga16:
* The number of colors just matches the console colors, thus there is no need
* to set the DAC or the pseudo_palette. However, the bitmap is packed, ie,
* each byte contains color information for two pixels (upper and lower nibble).
* To be consistent with fb_imageblit() usage, we therefore separate the two
* nibbles into separate bytes. The "depth" flag will be set to 4.
*
* Case 3 - linux_logo_mono:
* This is similar with Case 2. Each byte contains information for 8 pixels.
* We isolate each bit and expand each into a byte. The "depth" flag will
* be set to 1.

mm: kill vma flag VM_RESERVED and mm->reserved_vm counter A long time ago, in v2.4, VM_RESERVED kept swapout process off VMA, currently it lost original meaning but still has some effects: | effect | alternative flags -+------------------------+--------------------------------------------- 1| account as reserved_vm | VM_IO 2| skip in core dump | VM_IO, VM_DONTDUMP 3| do not merge or expand | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP 4| do not mlock | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP This patch removes reserved_vm counter from mm_struct. Seems like nobody cares about it, it does not exported into userspace directly, it only reduces total_vm showed in proc. Thus VM_RESERVED can be replaced with VM_IO or pair VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP. remap_pfn_range() and io_remap_pfn_range() set VM_IO|VM_DONTEXPAND|VM_DONTDUMP. remap_vmalloc_range() set VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP. llseek: automatically add .llseek fop All file_operations should get a .llseek operation so we can make nonseekable_open the default for future file operations without a .llseek pointer. The three cases that we can automatically detect are no_llseek, seq_lseek and default_llseek. For cases where we can we can automatically prove that the file offset is always ignored, we use noop_llseek, which maintains the current behavior of not returning an error from a seek. New drivers should normally not use noop_llseek but instead use no_llseek and call nonseekable_open at open time. Existing drivers can be converted to do the same when the maintainer knows for certain that no user code relies on calling seek on the device file. The generated code is often incorrectly indented and right now contains comments that clarify for each added line why a specific variant was chosen. In the version that gets submitted upstream, the comments will be gone and I will manually fix the indentation, because there does not seem to be a way to do that using coccinelle. Some amount of new code is currently sitting in linux-next that should get the same modifications, which I will do at the end of the merge window. Many thanks to Julia Lawall for helping me learn to write a semantic patch that does all this. ===== begin semantic patch ===== // This adds an llseek= method to all file operations, // as a preparation for making no_llseek the default. // // The rules are // - use no_llseek explicitly if we do nonseekable_open // - use seq_lseek for sequential files // - use default_llseek if we know we access f_pos // - use noop_llseek if we know we don't access f_pos, // but we still want to allow users to call lseek // @ open1 exists @ identifier nested_open; @@ nested_open(...) { <+... nonseekable_open(...) ...+> } @ open exists@ identifier open_f; identifier i, f; identifier open1.nested_open; @@ int open_f(struct inode *i, struct file *f) { <+... udlfb: remove sysfs framebuffer device with USB .disconnect() The USB graphics card driver delays the unregistering of the framebuffer device to a workqueue, which breaks the userspace visible remove uevent sequence. Recent userspace tools started to support USB graphics card hotplug out-of-the-box and rely on proper events sent by the kernel. The framebuffer device is a direct child of the USB interface which is removed immediately after the USB .disconnect() callback. But the fb device in /sys stays around until its final cleanup, at a time where all the parent devices have been removed already. To work around that, we remove the sysfs fb device directly in the USB .disconnect() callback and leave only the cleanup of the internal fb data to the delayed work.
