Dan Magenheimer 10a7a07713 xen: tmem: enable Xen tmem shim to be built/loaded as a module
Allow Xen tmem shim to be built/loaded as a module.  Xen self-ballooning
and frontswap-selfshrinking are now also "lazily" initialized when the
Xen tmem shim is loaded as a module, unless explicitly disabled by
module parameters.

Note runtime dependency disallows loading if cleancache/frontswap lazy
initialization patches are not present.

If built-in (not built as a module), the original mechanism of enabling
via a kernel boot parameter is retained, but this should be considered
deprecated.

Note that module unload is explicitly not yet supported.

Ben Guthro 3fac10145b xen: Re-upload processor PM data to hypervisor after S3 resume (v2)
Upon resume, it was found that ACPI C-states were missing from non-boot CPUs.
This change registers a syscore_ops handler for this case, and re-uploads the
PM information to the hypervisor to properly reset the C-state on these
processors.

v2:
v1 did not go through the check_acpi_ids() code-path, and missed some cases when
xen was running with the dom0_max_vcpus= command line parameter.

We naively assume that the IRQ value passed in is correct.
If it is not, then any dereference operation for the 'info'
structure will result in crash - so might as well guard ourselves
and sprinkle copious amounts of WARN_ON.

Keir Fraser bee980d9e9 xen/events: Handle VIRQ_TIMER before any other hardirq in event loop.
This avoids any other hardirq handler seeing a very stale jiffies
value immediately after wakeup from a long idle period. The one
observable symptom of this was a USB keyboard, with software keyboard
repeat, which would always repeat a key immediately that it was
pressed. This is due to the key press waking the guest, the key
handler immediately runs, sees an old jiffies value, and then that
jiffies value significantly updated, before the key is unpressed.

David Vrabel c26377e62f xen/events: avoid race with raising an event in unmask_evtchn()
In unmask_evtchn(), when the mask bit is cleared after testing for
pending and the event becomes pending between the test and clear, then
the upcall will not become pending and the event may be lost or
delayed.

Avoid this by always clearing the mask bit before checking for
pending.  If a hypercall is needed, remask the event as
EVTCHNOP_unmask will only retrigger pending events if they were
masked.

This fixes a regression introduced in 3.7 by
b5e579232d (xen/events: fix
unmask_evtchn for PV on HVM guests) which reordered the clear mask and
check pending operations.

Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk 76fc253723 xen/acpi-stub: Disable it b/c the acpi_processor_add is no longer called.
With the Xen ACPI stub code (CONFIG_XEN_STUB=y) enabled, the power
C and P states are no longer uploaded to the hypervisor.

The reason is that the Xen CPU hotplug code: xen-acpi-cpuhotplug.c
and the xen-acpi-stub.c register themselves as the "processor" type object.

That means the generic processor (processor_driver.c) stops
working and it does not call (acpi_processor_add) which populates the

         per_cpu(processors, pr->id) = pr;

structure. The 'pr' is gathered from the acpi_processor_get_info function
which does the job of finding the C-states and figuring out PBLK address.

The 'processors->pr' is then later used by xen-acpi-processor.c (the one that
uploads C and P states to the hypervisor). Since it is NULL, we end
skip the gathering of _PSD, _PSS, _PCT, etc and never upload the power
management data.

The end result is that enabling the CONFIG_XEN_STUB in the build means that
xen-acpi-processor is not working anymore.

This temporary patch fixes it by marking the XEN_STUB driver as
BROKEN until this can be properly fixed.

Jan Beulich 909b3fdb0d xen-pciback: notify hypervisor about devices intended to be assigned to guests
For MSI-X capable devices the hypervisor wants to write protect the
MSI-X table and PBA, yet it can't assume that resources have been
assigned to their final values at device enumeration time. Thus have
pciback do that notification, as having the device controlled by it is
a prerequisite to assigning the device to guests anyway.

This is the kernel part of hypervisor side commit 4245d33 ("x86/MSI:
add mechanism to fully protect MSI-X table from PV guest accesses") on
the master branch of git://xenbits.xen.org/xen.git.

Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk 949dd8c14f xen/acpi-processor: Don't dereference struct acpi_processor on all CPUs.
With git commit c705c78c0d
"acpi: Export the acpi_processor_get_performance_info" we are now
using a different mechanism to access the P-states.

The acpi_processor per-cpu structure is set and filtered by the
core ACPI code which shrinks the per_cpu contents to only online CPUs.
In the past we would call acpi_processor_register_performance()
which would have not tried to dereference offline cpus.

With the new patch and the fact that the loop we take is for
for_all_possible_cpus we end up crashing on some machines.
We could modify the loop to be for online_cpus - but all the other
loops in the code use possible_cpus (for a good reason) - so lets
leave it as so and just check if per_cpu(processor) is NULL.

With this patch we will bypass the !online but possible CPUs.

Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk c705c78c0d acpi: Export the acpi_processor_get_performance_info
The git commit d5aaffa9dd
(cpufreq: handle cpufreq being disabled for all exported function)
tightens the cpufreq API by returning errors when disable_cpufreq()
had been called.

The problem we are hitting is that the module xen-acpi-processor which
uses the ACPI's functions: acpi_processor_register_performance,
acpi_processor_preregister_performance, and acpi_processor_notify_smm
fails at acpi_processor_register_performance with -22.

Note that earlier during bootup in arch/x86/xen/setup.c there is also
an call to cpufreq's API: disable_cpufreq().

This is b/c we want the Linux kernel to parse the ACPI data, but leave
the cpufreq decisions to the hypervisor.

In v3.9 all the checks that d5aaffa9dd
added are now hit and the calls to cpufreq_register_notifier will now
fail. This means that acpi_processor_ppc_init ends up printing:

"Warning: Processor Platform Limit not supported"

and the acpi_processor_ppc_status is not set.

The repercussions of that is that the call to
acpi_processor_register_performance fails right away at:

	if (!(acpi_processor_ppc_status & PPC_REGISTERED))

and we don't progress any further on parsing and extracting the _P*
objects.

The only reason the Xen code called that function was b/c it was
exported and the only way to gather the P-states. But we can also
just make acpi_processor_get_performance_info be exported and not
use acpi_processor_register_performance. This patch does so.

Eric W. Biederman 7f78e03513 fs: Limit sys_mount to only request filesystem modules.
Modify the request_module to prefix the file system type with "fs-"
and add aliases to all of the filesystems that can be built as modules
to match.

A common practice is to build all of the kernel code and leave code
that is not commonly needed as modules, with the result that many
users are exposed to any bug anywhere in the kernel.

Looking for filesystems with a fs- prefix limits the pool of possible
modules that can be loaded by mount to just filesystems trivially
making things safer with no real cost.

Using aliases means user space can control the policy of which
filesystem modules are auto-loaded by editing /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf
with blacklist and alias directives.  Allowing simple, safe,
well understood work-arounds to known problematic software.

This also addresses a rare but unfortunate problem where the filesystem
name is not the same as it's module name and module auto-loading
would not work.  While writing this patch I saw a handful of such
cases.  The most significant being autofs that lives in the module
autofs4.

This is relevant to user namespaces because we can reach the request
module in get_fs_type() without having any special permissions, and
people get uncomfortable when a user specified string (in this case
the filesystem type) goes all of the way to request_module.

After having looked at this issue I don't think there is any
particular reason to perform any filtering or permission checks beyond
making it clear in the module request that we want a filesystem
module.  The common pattern in the kernel is to call request_module()
without regards to the users permissions.  In general all a filesystem
module does once loaded is call register_filesystem() and go to sleep.
Which means there is not much attack surface exposed by loading a
filesytem module unless the filesystem is mounted.  In a user
namespace filesystems are not mounted unless .fs_flags = FS_USERNS_MOUNT,
which most filesystems do not set today.

Stefano Stabellini 3216dceb31 xen: introduce xen_remap, use it instead of ioremap
ioremap can't be used to map ring pages on ARM because it uses device
memory caching attributes (MT_DEVICE*).

Introduce a Xen specific abstraction to map ring pages, called
xen_remap, that is defined as ioremap on x86 (no behavioral changes).
On ARM it explicitly calls __arm_ioremap with the right caching
attributes: MT_MEMORY.

Liu Jinsong 39adc483d3 xen/acpi: ACPI cpu hotplug
This patch implement real Xen ACPI cpu hotplug driver as module.
When loaded, it replaces Xen stub driver.

For booting existed cpus, the driver enumerates them.
For hotadded cpus, which added at runtime and notify OS via
device or container event, the driver is invoked to add them,
parsing cpu information, hypercalling to Xen hypervisor to add
them, and finally setting up new /sys interface for them.

This patch create a file (xen-stub.c) for Xen stub drivers.
Xen stub drivers are used to reserve space for Xen drivers, i.e.
memory hotplug and cpu hotplug, and to block native drivers loaded,
so that real Xen drivers can be modular and loaded on demand.

This patch is specific for Xen memory hotplug (other Xen logic
can add stub drivers on their own). The xen stub driver will
occupied earlier via subsys_initcall (than native memory hotplug
driver via module_init and so blocking native). Later real Xen
memory hotplug logic will unregister the stub driver and register
itself to take effect on demand.

and furthermore can be concurrently active on multiple VCPUs. Support this
interrupt delivery model by setting up a separate IDT entry for Hyper-V vmbus.

Yinghai Lu ac2cbab21f x86: Don't panic if can not alloc buffer for swiotlb
Normal boot path on system with iommu support:
swiotlb buffer will be allocated early at first and then try to initialize
iommu, if iommu for intel or AMD could setup properly, swiotlb buffer
will be freed.

The early allocating is with bootmem, and could panic when we try to use
kdump with buffer above 4G only, or with memmap to limit mem under 4G.
for example: memmap=4095M$1M to remove memory under 4G.

According to Eric, add _nopanic version and no_iotlb_memory to fail
map single later if swiotlb is still needed.

-v2: don't pass nopanic, and use -ENOMEM return value according to Eric.
     panic early instead of using swiotlb_full to panic...according to Eric/Konrad.
-v3: make swiotlb_init to be notpanic, but will affect:
     arm64, ia64, powerpc, tile, unicore32, x86.
-v4: cleanup swiotlb_init by removing swiotlb_init_with_default_size.
