David reported that current perf report refused to run on a data file
captured from a different machine because of objdump.
Since the objdump tools won't be used unless annotation was requested,
checking its presence at init time doesn't make sense.

Currently various hist browser functions receive 3 arguments for
refreshing histogram but only used from a few places. Also it's only
for perf top command so that it can be NULL for other (and probably
most) cases. Pack them into a struct in order to reduce number of those
unused arguments.
This is a mechanical change and does not intend a functional change.

Create a script browser, so that user can check all the available
scripts for current perf data file and run them inside the main perf
report or annotation browsers, for all perf samples or for samples
belong to one thread/symbol.
Please be noted: current script browser is only for report use, and
doesn't cover the record phase, IOW it must run against one existing
perf data file.
The work flow is, users can use function key to list all the available
scripts for current perf data file in system and chose one, which will
be executed with popen("perf script -s xxx.xx",) and all the output
lines are put into one ui browser, pressing 'q' or left arrow key will
make it return to previous browser.

Adding 'wdiff' as new computation way to compare hist entries.
If specified the 'Weighted diff' column is displayed with value 'd'
computed as:
d = B->period * WEIGHT-A - A->period * WEIGHT-B
- A/B being matching hist entry from first/second file specified
(or perf.data/perf.data.old) respectively.
- period being the hist entry period value
- WEIGHT-A/WEIGHT-B being user suplied weights in the the '-c' option
behind ':' separator like '-c wdiff:1,2'.

Adding -c option to select computation method with the current 'Delta'
computation as default. Current possible values are of this option are:
'delta' and 'ratio'.
Adding 'ratio' as new computation way to compare hist entries. If

The total_period is available in struct hists data via the 'struct
hist_entry::hists' pointer. There's no need to carry it through the
output code path.
Removing 'struct perf_hpp::total_period' pointer, because it's no longer

Adding perf_hpp__column_enable function to enable/disable hists column
and removing diff command specific stuff 'need_pair and
show_displacement' from hpp code.
The diff command now enables/disables columns separately according to
the user arguments. This will be helpful in future patches where more
columns are added into diff output.

Currently the overhead and baseline columns are handled within single
function and the distinction is made by 'baseline hists' pointer passed
by 'struct perf_hpp::ptr'.
Since hists pointer is now part of each hist_entry, it's possible to
locate paired hists pointer directly from the passed struct hist_entry
pointer.
Also separating those 2 columns makes the code more obvious.

Moving the position calculation into the diff command, so the position
as prepared inside struct hist_entry data and there's no need to compute
in the output display path.

For building perf without gtk+2, we can set NO_GTK2=1 as a argument of
make. It then defines NO_GTK2_SUPPORT macro for C code to do the
proper handling. However it usually used in a negative semantics -
e.g. #ifndef - so we saw double negations which can be misleading.
Convert it to a positive form to make it more readable.

perf defines both __used and __unused variables to use for marking
unused variables. The variable __used is defined to
__attribute__((__unused__)), which contradicts the kernel definition to
__attribute__((__used__)) for new gcc versions. On Android, __used is
also defined in system headers and this leads to warnings like: warning:
'__used__' attribute ignored
__unused is not defined in the kernel and is not a standard definition.
If __unused is included everywhere instead of __used, this leads to
conflicts with glibc headers, since glibc has a variables with this name
in its headers.
The best approach is to use __maybe_unused, the definition used in the
kernel for __attribute__((unused)). In this way there is only one
definition in perf sources (instead of 2 definitions that point to the
same thing: __used and __unused) and it works on both Linux and Android.
This patch simply replaces all instances of __used and __unused with
__maybe_unused.

Current hist print functions are messy because it has to consider many
of command line options and the code doing that is scattered around to
places. So when someone wants to add an option to manipulate the hist
output it'd very easy to miss to update all of them in sync. And things
getting worse as more options/features are added continuously.
So I'd like to refactor them using hpp formats and move common code to
ui/hist.c in order to make it easy to maintain and to add new features.

perf top -G has a race on callchain cursor between main thread and
display thread. Since the callchain cursors are used locally make them
thread-local data would solve the problem.

This patch adds a simple GTK2-based browser to 'perf report' that's
based on the TTY-based browser in builtin-report.c.
To launch "perf report" using the new GTK interface just type:
$ perf report --gtk
The interface is somewhat limited in features at the moment:
- No callgraph support
- No KVM guest profiling support
- No color coding for percentages
- No sorting from the UI
- ..and many, many more!
That said, I think this patch a reasonable start to build future features on.

The perf sample processing code relies on a valid machine object. Make
sure that this path is only entered when such a object exists.
A counter for samples where no machine object exits is also introduced
to give the user a message about these samples.

The new --uid command line option will show only the tasks for a given
user, using the proc interface to figure out the existing tasks.
Kernel work is needed to close races at startup, but this should already
be useful in many use cases.

Recently we made perf_evsel__init call hists__init, which broke the perf
python binding:

Just like the old perf top --tui and the --stdio version.
But because we have the initial menu to choose which event to show in a
session with multiple events we can see how many chunks were lost in
each of the event types, clarifying which events are being affected the
most.

We can't have color correctly set there because in libslang (and in a future
GUI) the colors must be set on a separate function call, so move that part to a
separate function and make the stdio fprintf function call it.

We were removing only when using a --sort order that needs collapsing,
while we also use it in the threaded case, causing memory corruption
because we were scribbling freed hist entries, oops.

This patch, relative to tip/master, makes perf compile when
NO_NEWT_SUPPORT is set. It also fixes the line formatting to fit 80
columns.

I.e. when in the annotate TUI window, if Enter is pressed over an
assembly line with a 'callq' it will try to open another TUI window with
that symbol.
This is just a proof of concept and works only on x86_64, more work is
needed to support kernel modules, userland, other arches, etc, but
should already be useful as-is.

This actually fixes several problems we had in the old 'perf top':
1. Unresolved symbols not show, limitation that came from the old
"KernelTop" codebase, to solve it we would need to do changes
that would make sym_entry have most of the hist_entry fields.
2. It was using the number of samples, not the sum of sample->period.
And brings the --sort code that allows us to have all the views in
'perf report', for instance:

All the filter lists can be used as well: --dsos, --comms, --symbols,
etc.
The 'perf report' TUI is also reused, being possible to apply all the
zoom operations, do annotation, etc.
This change will allow multiple simplifications in the symbol system as

This allows passing a timer to be run periodically, which will update
the hists tree that then gers refreshed on the screen, just like the
Live mode (symbol entries, annotation) we already have in 'perf top
--tui'.
Will be used by the new hist_entry/hists based 'top' tool.

By using a mutex just for inserting and rotating two hist_entry rb
trees, so that when sorting we can get the last batch of entries created
from the ring buffer, merge it with whatever we have processed so far
and show the output while new entries are being added.
The 'report' tool continues, for now, to do it without threading, but
will use this in the future to allow visualization of results in long
perf.data sessions while the entries are being processed.
The new 'top' tool will be the first user.

Resolving the sample->id to an evsel since the most advanced tools,
report and annotate, and the others will too when they evolve to
properly support multi-event perf.data files.
Good also because it does an extra validation, checking that the ID is
valid when present. When that is not the case, the overhead is just a
branch + function call (perf_evlist__id2evsel).

When multiple events were used in 'perf record', allow the user to
choose which one is wanted before showing the per event histograms.
Annotations will be performed on the chosen event.
Allow going back and forth from event to event quickly using just the
arrow keys and enter.

By creating an perf_evlist out of the attributes in the perf.data file
header, so that we can use evlists and evsels when reading recorded
sessions in addition to when we record sessions.
More work is needed to allow tools to allow the user to select which
events are wanted when browsing sessions, be it just one or a subset of
them, aggregated or showed at the same time but with different
indications on the UI to allow seeing workloads thru different views at
the same time.
But the overall goal/trend is to more uniformly use evsels and evlists.

Since we'll need it when implementing the live annotate TUI browser.
This also simplifies things a bit by having the list head for the source
code to be in the dynamicly allocated part of struct annotation, that
way we don't have to pass it around, it can be found from the struct
symbol that is passed everywhere.

They will be used by perf top, so that we have just one set of routines
to do annotation.
Rename "struct sym_priv" to "struct annotation", etc, to clarify this
code a bit.
Rename "struct sym_ext" to "struct source_line", to give it a meaningful
name, that clarifies that it is a the result of an addr2line call, that
is sorted by percentage one particular source code line appeared in the
annotation.
And since we're moving things around also rename 'sym_hist->ip' to
'sym_hist->addr' as we want to do data structure annotation at some
point.
