Linus Torvalds 37cb8e1f8e DeviceTree for 4.15:
- kbuild cleanups and improvements for dtbs

 - Code clean-up of overlay code and fixing for some long standing memory
leak and race condition in applying overlays

 - Improvements to DT memory usage making sysfs/kobjects optional and
skipping unflattening of disabled nodes. This is part of kernel

 - Final piece of removing storing the full path for every DT node. The

Sakari Ailus 75f9f7279e dt: bindings: as3645a: Use LED number to refer to LEDs
Use integers (reg property) to tell the number of the LED to the driver
instead of the node name. While both of these approaches are currently
used by the LED bindings, using integers will require less driver changes
for ACPI support. Additionally, it will make possible LED naming using
chip and LED node names, effectively making the label property most useful
for human-readable names only.

Andrew Jeffery 0f34f95876 dt-bindings: leds: gpio: Add optional retain-state-shutdown property
On Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) systems it's sometimes
necessary for a LED to retain its state across a BMC reset (which is
independent of the host system state). Add a devicetree property to
describe this behaviour. The property would typically be used in
conjunction with 'default-state = "keep"'.

Rafał Miłecki 80dc6e1cd8 dt-bindings: leds: document new trigger-sources property
Some LEDs can be related to a specific device(s) described in the DT.
This property allows specifying such relations. E.g. USB LED should
usually be used to indicate some USB port(s) state.

Please note this binding is designed to be generic and not influenced by
any operating system design. Linux developers may find "trigger" part a
bit confusing since in Linux triggers are separated drivers. It
shouldn't define the binding though (we shouldn't add an extra level of
indirection).

Brian Norris 6025530738 backlight: lp855x: Add enable regulator
The LP8556 datasheet describes an EN/VDDIO input, which serves "both as
a chip enable and as a power supply reference for PWM, SDA, and SCL
inputs." The LP8556 that I'm testing doesn't respond properly if I try
to talk I2C to it too quickly after enabling VDDIO, and the LP8555
datasheet mentions a t_RESPONSE delay of up to 1 millisecond.

Support this EN/VDDIO by adding a regulator property to the binding;
enabling this regulator at probe time; and sleeping for 1 to 2ms, if the
EN/VDDIO regulator was provided.

Vincent Donnefort f7fafd083c leds: leds-ns2: move LED modes mapping outside of the driver
On the board n090401 (Seagate NAS 4-Bay), the LED mode mapping (GPIO
values to LED mode) is different from the one used on other boards
supported by the leds-ns2 driver.

With this patch the hardcoded mapping is removed from leds-ns2. Now,
it must be defined either in the platform data (if an old-fashion board
setup file is used) or in the DT node. In order to allow the later, this
patch also introduces a modes-map property for the leds-ns2 DT binding.

Vasant Hegde 84ad6e5cd3 leds/powernv: Add driver for PowerNV platform
This patch implements LED driver for PowerNV platform using the existing
generic LED class framework.

PowerNV platform has below type of LEDs:
  - System attention
Indicates there is a problem with the system that needs attention.
  - Identify
Helps the user locate/identify a particular FRU or resource in the
      system.
  - Fault
Indicates there is a problem with the FRU or resource at the
location with which the indicator is associated.

We register classdev structures for all individual LEDs detected on the
system through LED specific device tree nodes. Device tree nodes specify
what all kind of LEDs present on the same location code. It registers
LED classdev structure for each of them.

All the system LEDs can be found in the same regular path /sys/class/leds/.
We don't use LED colors. We use LED node and led-types property to form
LED classdev. Our LEDs have names in this format.

        <location_code>:<attention|identify|fault>

Any positive brightness value would turn on the LED and a zero value would
turn off the LED. The driver will return LED_FULL (255) for any turned on
LED and LED_OFF (0) for any turned off LED.

The platform level implementation of LED get and set state has been
achieved through OPAL calls. These calls are made available for the
driver by exporting from architecture specific codes.

Mark A. Greer 8465b01827 leds: pca9633: Add hardware blink support
Add hardware blinking support to the pca9633 driver.

NOTE: Hardware blinking violates the leds infrastructure
driver interface since the hardware only supports
blinking all LEDs with the same delay_on/delay_off
rates. That is, only the LEDs that are set to blink
will actually blink but all LEDs that are set to blink
will blink in identical fashion. The delay_on/delay_off
values of the last LED that is set to blink will be used
for all of the blinking LEDs. If the hardware doesn't
support the requested blinking pattern, a default of
500ms on and off will be used.

Hardware blinking is disabled by default but can be enabled
by setting the 'blink_type' member in the platform_data
struct to 'PCA9633_HW_BLINK' or by adding the 'nxp,hw-blink'
property to the DTS.

LP8501 is one of LP55xx family device, so LP55xx common code are used.
Chip specific data is defined in the structure, 'lp55xx_device_config'.

Differences between LP8501 and LP5523
Different register layout for LED output control and others.
LP8501 specific feature for separate output power selection.
LP8501 doesn't support external clock detection.
 Different programming engine data.

LP8501 specific feature - output power selection
Output channels are selected by power selection - Vout or Vdd.
Separate power for VDD1-6 and VDD7-9 are available.

Linus Walleij 7542a04b15 leds: lp55xx: add support for Device Tree bindings
This patch allows the lp5521 driver to be successfully probed and
initialised when Device Tree support is enabled.

Based on a patch by Gabriel Fernandez, rewritten in accordance
with review feedback.

Grant Likely 12514aa0e6 devicetree: Move NS2 LEDs binding into LEDs directory
leds-ns2.txt is a binding for LEDs, not GPIOs. Move the documentation in
with the rest of the LEDs bindings.

Peter Ujfalusi 08541cbcc7 leds: leds-pwm: Add device tree bindings
The DT binding for the pwm-leds devices are similar to the gpio-leds type.
LEDs are represented as sub-nodes of the pwm-leds device.
The code for handling the DT boot is based on the code found in the
leds-gpio driver and adapted to use PWMs instead of GPIOs.
To avoid having custom cleanup code in case of DT boot the newly created
devm_of_pwm_get() API is used to get the correct PWM instance.

For usage see:

Grant Likely f67605394f devicetree/bindings: Move gpio-leds binding into leds directory
Merely reorganizing documentation. No functional changes. It makes more
sense for the gpio-leds binding to be grouped with other led bindings
than with gpio drivers.

Marek Belisko 07c121149c Documentation: Move common leds properties description to separate file.
There are several drivers that use LEDs and depend on exactly the same
device tree binding. However, the binding documentation has simply been
cut-and-paste into each of the binding documents. Rather than continue
to duplicate it, this patch adds a common led binding document that all
can reference.
