Linus Torvalds 033d9959ed Merge branch 'for-3.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tj/wq
Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
 "This is workqueue updates for v3.7-rc1. A lot of activities this
  round including considerable API and behavior cleanups.

   * delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the
     timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing
     cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is
     updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as
     expected.

   * Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of
     mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded
     timer+work usages.  mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added.

     These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface
     and behave like timer which is executed with process context.

   * A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which
     is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and
     half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't
     exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check
     isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces
     across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario
     the overhead isn't too high.

     All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the
     distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and
     flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the
     latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished
     execution of any previous queueing on return.

   * In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU
     hotplug handling significantly.

   * Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU
     hotplug.

  There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from
  tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from
  wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them."

Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts
were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new
code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts.

Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more.

Eric W. Biederman 9a56c2db49 userns: Convert security/keys to the new userns infrastructure
- Replace key_user ->user_ns equality checks with kuid_has_mapping checks.
- Use from_kuid to generate key descriptions
- Use kuid_t and kgid_t and the associated helpers instead of uid_t and gid_t
- Avoid potential problems with file descriptor passing by displaying
  keys in the user namespace of the opener of key status proc files.

Oleg Nesterov b3f68f16db task_work: Revert "hold task_lock around checks in keyctl"
This reverts commit d35abdb288.

task_lock() was added to ensure exit_mm() and thus exit_task_work() is
not possible before task_work_add().

This is wrong, task_lock() must not be nested with write_lock(tasklist).
And this is no longer needed, task_work_add() now fails if it is called
after exit_task_work().

David Howells d4f65b5d24 KEYS: Add payload preparsing opportunity prior to key instantiate or update
Give the key type the opportunity to preparse the payload prior to the
instantiation and update routines being called. This is done with the
provision of two new key type operations:

	int (*preparse)(struct key_preparsed_payload *prep);
	void (*free_preparse)(struct key_preparsed_payload *prep);

If the first operation is present, then it is called before key creation (in
the add/update case) or before the key semaphore is taken (in the update and
instantiate cases). The second operation is called to clean up if the first
was called.

preparse() is given the opportunity to fill in the following structure:

	struct key_preparsed_payload {
		char		*description;
		void		*type_data[2];
		void		*payload;
		const void	*data;
		size_t		datalen;
		size_t		quotalen;
	};

Before the preparser is called, the first three fields will have been cleared,
the payload pointer and size will be stored in data and datalen and the default
quota size from the key_type struct will be stored into quotalen.

The preparser may parse the payload in any way it likes and may store data in
the type_data[] and payload fields for use by the instantiate() and update()
ops.

The preparser may also propose a description for the key by attaching it as a
string to the description field. This can be used by passing a NULL or ""
description to the add_key() system call or the key_create_or_update()
function. This cannot work with request_key() as that required the description
to tell the upcall about the key to be created.

This, for example permits keys that store PGP public keys to generate their own
name from the user ID and public key fingerprint in the key.

The instantiate() and update() operations are then modified to look like this:

	int (*instantiate)(struct key *key, struct key_preparsed_payload *prep);
	int (*update)(struct key *key, struct key_preparsed_payload *prep);

and the new payload data is passed in *prep, whether or not it was preparsed.

Move the tpm_get_random api from the trusted keys code into the TPM
device driver itself so that other callers can make use of it. Also,
change the api slightly so that the number of bytes read is returned in

Christopher Yeoh ac34ebb3a6 aio/vfs: cleanup of rw_copy_check_uvector() and compat_rw_copy_check_uvector()
A cleanup of rw_copy_check_uvector and compat_rw_copy_check_uvector after
changes made to support CMA in an earlier patch.

Rather than having an additional check_access parameter to these
functions, the first paramater type is overloaded to allow the caller to
specify CHECK_IOVEC_ONLY which means check that the contents of the iovec
are valid, but do not check the memory that they point to. This is used
by process_vm_readv/writev where we need to validate that a iovec passed
to the syscall is valid but do not want to check the memory that it points
to at this point because it refers to an address space in another process.

David Howells 423b978802 KEYS: Fix some sparse warnings
Fix some sparse warnings in the keyrings code:

 (1) compat_keyctl_instantiate_key_iov() should be static.

 (2) There were a couple of places where a pointer was being compared against
     integer 0 rather than NULL.

 (3) keyctl_instantiate_key_common() should not take a __user-labelled iovec
     pointer as the caller must have copied the iovec to kernel space.

 (4) __key_link_begin() takes and __key_link_end() releases
     keyring_serialise_link_sem under some circumstances and so this should be
     declared.

     Note that adding __acquires() and __releases() for this doesn't help cure

Oleg Nesterov 413cd3d9ab keys: change keyctl_session_to_parent() to use task_work_add()
Change keyctl_session_to_parent() to use task_work_add() and move
key_replace_session_keyring() logic into task_work->func().

Note that we do task_work_cancel() before task_work_add() to ensure that
only one work can be pending at any time. This is important, we must not
allow user-space to abuse the parent's ->task_works list.

The callback, replace_session_keyring(), checks PF_EXITING. I guess this
is not really needed but looks better.

As a side effect, this fixes the (unlikely) race. The callers of
key_replace_session_keyring() and keyctl_session_to_parent() lack the
necessary barriers, the parent can miss the request.

Now we can remove task_struct->replacement_session_keyring and related
code.

Linus Torvalds 644473e9c6 Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace
Pull user namespace enhancements from Eric Biederman:
 "This is a course correction for the user namespace, so that we can
  reach an inexpensive, maintainable, and reasonably complete
  implementation.

  Highlights:
   - Config guards make it impossible to enable the user namespace and
     code that has not been converted to be user namespace safe.

   - Use of the new kuid_t type ensures the if you somehow get past the
     config guards the kernel will encounter type errors if you enable
     user namespaces and attempt to compile in code whose permission
     checks have not been updated to be user namespace safe.

   - All uids from child user namespaces are mapped into the initial
     user namespace before they are processed. Removing the need to add
     an additional check to see if the user namespace of the compared
     uids remains the same.

   - With the user namespaces compiled out the performance is as good or
     better than it is today.

   - For most operations absolutely nothing changes performance or
     operationally with the user namespace enabled.

   - The worst case performance I could come up with was timing 1
     billion cache cold stat operations with the user namespace code
     enabled. This went from 156s to 164s on my laptop (or 156ns to
     164ns per stat operation).

   - (uid_t)-1 and (gid_t)-1 are reserved as an internal error value.
     Most uid/gid setting system calls treat these value specially
     anyway so attempting to use -1 as a uid would likely cause
     entertaining failures in userspace.

   - If setuid is called with a uid that can not be mapped setuid fails.
     I have looked at sendmail, login, ssh and every other program I
     could think of that would call setuid and they all check for and
     handle the case where setuid fails.

   - If stat or a similar system call is called from a context in which
     we can not map a uid we lie and return overflowuid. The LFS
     experience suggests not lying and returning an error code might be
     better, but the historical precedent with uids is different and I
     can not think of anything that would break by lying about a uid we
     can't map.

   - Capabilities are localized to the current user namespace making it
     safe to give the initial user in a user namespace all capabilities.

  My git tree covers all of the modifications needed to convert the core
  kernel and enough changes to make a system bootable to runlevel 1."

David Howells fd75815f72 KEYS: Add invalidation support
Add support for invalidating a key - which renders it immediately invisible to
further searches and causes the garbage collector to immediately wake up,
remove it from keyrings and then destroy it when it's no longer referenced.

It's better not to do this with keyctl_revoke() as that marks the key to start
returning -EKEYREVOKED to searches when what is actually desired is to have the
key refetched.

To invalidate a key the caller must be granted SEARCH permission by the key.
This may be too strict. It may be better to also permit invalidation if the
caller has any of READ, WRITE or SETATTR permission.

The primary use for this is to evict keys that are cached in special keyrings,
such as the DNS resolver or an ID mapper.

David Howells 31d5a79d7f KEYS: Do LRU discard in full keyrings
Do an LRU discard in keyrings that are full rather than returning ENFILE. To
perform this, a time_t is added to the key struct and updated by the creation
of a link to a key and by a key being found as the result of a search. At the
completion of a successful search, the keyrings in the path between the root of
the search and the first found link to it also have their last-used times
updated.

Note that discarding a link to a key from a keyring does not necessarily
destroy the key as there may be references held by other places.

An alternate discard method that might suffice is to perform FIFO discard from
the keyring, using the spare 2-byte hole in the keylist header as the index of
the next link to be discarded.

This is useful when using a keyring as a cache for DNS results or foreign
filesystem IDs.

This can be tested by the following. As root do:

	echo 1000 >/proc/sys/kernel/keys/root_maxkeys

	kr=`keyctl newring foo @s`
	for ((i=0; i<2000; i++)); do keyctl add user a$i a $kr; done

Without this patch ENFILE should be reported when the keyring fills up. With
this patch, the keyring discards keys in an LRU fashion. Note that the stored
LRU time has a granularity of 1s.

After doing this, /proc/key-users can be observed and should show that most of
the 2000 keys have been discarded:

	[root@andromeda ~]# cat /proc/key-users
	    0:   517 516/516 513/1000 5249/20000

The "513/1000" here is the number of quota-accounted keys present for this user
out of the maximum permitted.

In /proc/keys, the keyring shows the number of keys it has and the number of
slots it has allocated:

David Howells 233e4735f2 KEYS: Permit in-place link replacement in keyring list
Make use of the previous patch that makes the garbage collector perform RCU
synchronisation before destroying defunct keys. Key pointers can now be
replaced in-place without creating a new keyring payload and replacing the
whole thing as the discarded keys will not be destroyed until all currently
held RCU read locks are released.

If the keyring payload space needs to be expanded or contracted, then a
replacement will still need allocating, and the original will still have to be
freed by RCU.

David Howells 65d87fe68a KEYS: Perform RCU synchronisation on keys prior to key destruction
Make the keys garbage collector invoke synchronize_rcu() prior to destroying
keys with a zero usage count. This means that a key can be examined under the
RCU read lock in the safe knowledge that it won't get deallocated until after
the lock is released - even if its usage count becomes zero whilst we're
looking at it.

This is useful in keyring search vs key link. Consider a keyring containing a
link to a key. That link can be replaced in-place in the keyring without
requiring an RCU copy-and-replace on the keyring contents without breaking a
search underway on that keyring when the displaced key is released, provided
the key is actually destroyed only after the RCU read lock held by the search
algorithm is released.

This permits __key_link() to replace a key without having to reallocate the key
payload. A key gets replaced if a new key being linked into a keyring has the
same type and description.

David Howells 700920eb5b KEYS: Allow special keyrings to be cleared

resolver keyring :

2a93faf1 I-----     1 perm 1f030000     0     0 keyring   .dns_resolver: empty

It would occasionally be useful to allow the contents of such keyrings to be
flushed by root (cache invalidation).

Allow a flag to be set on a keyring to mark that someone possessing the
sysadmin capability can clear the keyring, even without normal write access to
the keyring.

Set this flag on the special keyrings created by the DNS resolver, the NFS
identity mapper and the CIFS identity mapper.

Jeff Layton 9f6ed2ca25 keys: add a "logon" key type
For CIFS, we want to be able to store NTLM credentials (aka username
and password) in the keyring. We do not, however want to allow users
to fetch those keys back out of the keyring since that would be a
security risk.

Unfortunately, due to the nuances of key permission bits, it's not
possible to do this. We need to grant search permissions so the kernel
can find these keys, but that also implies permissions to read the
payload.

Resolve this by adding a new key_type. This key type is essentially
the same as key_type_user, but does not define a .read op. This
prevents the payload from ever being visible from userspace. This
key type also vets the description to ensure that it's "qualified"
by checking to ensure that it has a ':' in it that is preceded by
other characters.

Christopher Yeoh fcf634098c Cross Memory Attach
The basic idea behind cross memory attach is to allow MPI programs doing
intra-node communication to do a single copy of the message rather than a
double copy of the message via shared memory.

The following patch attempts to achieve this by allowing a destination
process, given an address and size from a source process, to copy memory
directly from the source process into its own address space via a system
call. There is also a symmetrical ability to copy from the current
process's address space into a destination process's address space.

- Use of /proc/pid/mem has been considered, but there are issues with
  using it:
  - Does not allow for specifying iovecs for both src and dest, assuming
    preadv or pwritev was implemented either the area read from or
  written to would need to be contiguous.
  - Currently mem_read allows only processes who are currently
  ptrace'ing the target and are still able to ptrace the target to read
  from the target. This check could possibly be moved to the open call,
  but its not clear exactly what race this restriction is stopping
  (reason appears to have been lost)
  - Having to send the fd of /proc/self/mem via SCM_RIGHTS on unix
  domain socket is a bit ugly from a userspace point of view,
  especially when you may have hundreds if not (eventually) thousands
  of processes that all need to do this with each other
  - Doesn't allow for some future use of the interface we would like to
  consider adding in the future (see below)
  - Interestingly reading from /proc/pid/mem currently actually
  involves two copies! (But this could be fixed pretty easily)

As mentioned previously use of vmsplice instead was considered, but has
problems. Since you need the reader and writer working co-operatively if
the pipe is not drained then you block. Which requires some wrapping to
do non blocking on the send side or polling on the receive. In all to all
communication it requires ordering otherwise you can deadlock. And in the
example of many MPI tasks writing to one MPI task vmsplice serialises the
copying.

There are some cases of MPI collectives where even a single copy interface
does not get us the performance gain we could. For example in an
MPI_Reduce rather than copy the data from the source we would like to
instead use it directly in a mathops (say the reduce is doing a sum) as
this would save us doing a copy. We don't need to keep a copy of the data
from the source. I haven't implemented this, but I think this interface
could in the future do all this through the use of the flags - eg could
specify the math operation and type and the kernel rather than just
copying the data would apply the specified operation between the source
and destination and store it in the destination.

Although we don't have a "second user" of the interface (though I've had
some nibbles from people who may be interested in using it for intra
process messaging which is not MPI). This interface is something which
hardware vendors are already doing for their custom drivers to implement
fast local communication. And so in addition to this being useful for
OpenMPI it would mean the driver maintainers don't have to fix things up
when the mm changes.

There was some discussion about how much faster a true zero copy would
go. Here's a link back to the email with some testing I did on that:

http://marc.info/?l=linux-mm&m=130105930902915&w=2

There is a basic man page for the proposed interface here:

http://ozlabs.org/~cyeoh/cma/process_vm_readv.txt

This has been implemented for x86 and powerpc, other architecture should
mainly (I think) just need to add syscall numbers for the process_vm_readv
and process_vm_writev. There are 32 bit compatibility versions for
64-bit kernels.

For arch maintainers there are some simple tests to be able to quickly
verify that the syscalls are working correctly here:

David Howells 0c061b5707 KEYS: Correctly destroy key payloads when their keytype is removed
unregister_key_type() has code to mark a key as dead and make it unavailable in
one loop and then destroy all those unavailable key payloads in the next loop.
However, the loop to mark keys dead renders the key undetectable to the second
loop by changing the key type pointer also.

Fix this by the following means:

 (1) The key code has two garbage collectors: one deletes unreferenced keys and
     the other alters keyrings to delete links to old dead, revoked and expired
     keys. They can end up holding each other up as both want to scan the key
     serial tree under spinlock. Combine these into a single routine.

 (2) Move the dead key marking, dead link removal and dead key removal into the
     garbage collector as a three phase process running over the three cycles
     of the normal garbage collection procedure. This is tracked by the
     KEY_GC_REAPING_DEAD_1, _2 and _3 state flags.

     unregister_key_type() then just unlinks the key type from the list, wakes
     up the garbage collector and waits for the third phase to complete.

 (3) Downgrade the key types sem in unregister_key_type() once it has deleted
     the key type from the list so that it doesn't block the keyctl() syscall.

 (4) Dead keys that cannot be simply removed in the third phase have their
     payloads destroyed with the key's semaphore write-locked to prevent
     interference by the keyctl() syscall. There should be no in-kernel users
     of dead keys of that type by the point of unregistration, though keyctl()
     may be holding a reference.

 (5) Only perform timer recalculation in the GC if the timer actually expired.
     If it didn't, we'll get another cycle when it goes off - and if the key
     that actually triggered it has been removed, it's not a problem.

 (6) Only garbage collect link if the timer expired or if we're doing dead key
     clean up phase 2.

 (7) As only key_garbage_collector() is permitted to use rb_erase() on the key
     serial tree, it doesn't need to revalidate its cursor after dropping the
     spinlock as the node the cursor points to must still exist in the tree.

 (8) Drop the spinlock in the GC if there is contention on it or if we need to
     reschedule. After dealing with that, get the spinlock again and resume
     scanning.

This has been tested in the following ways:

 (1) Run the keyutils testsuite against it.

 (2) Using the AF_RXRPC and RxKAD modules to test keytype removal:

     Load the rxrpc_s key type:

	# insmod /tmp/af-rxrpc.ko
	# insmod /tmp/rxkad.ko

     Create a key (http://people.redhat.com/~dhowells/rxrpc/listen.c):

	# /tmp/listen &
	[1] 8173

     Find the key:

	# grep rxrpc_s /proc/keys
	091086e1 I--Q--     1 perm 39390000     0     0 rxrpc_s   52:2

     Link it to a session keyring, preferably one with a higher serial number:

	# keyctl link 0x20e36251 @s

     Kill the process (the key should remain as it's linked to another place):

	# fg
	/tmp/listen
	^C

     Remove the key type:

	rmmod rxkad
	rmmod af-rxrpc

     This can be made a more effective test by altering the following part of
     the patch:

	if (unlikely(gc_state & KEY_GC_REAPING_DEAD_2)) {
		/* Make sure everyone revalidates their keys if we marked a
		 * bunch as being dead and make sure all keyring ex-payloads
		 * are destroyed.
		 */
		kdebug("dead sync");
		synchronize_rcu();

     To call synchronize_rcu() in GC phase 1 instead. That causes that the
     keyring's old payload content to hang around longer until it's RCU
     destroyed - which usually happens after GC phase 3 is complete. This
     allows the destroy_dead_key branch to be tested.

David Howells 3ecf1b4f34 KEYS: keyctl_get_keyring_ID() should create a session keyring if create flag set
The keyctl call:

	keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 1)

should create a session keyring if the process doesn't have one of its own
because the create flag argument is set - rather than subscribing to and
returning the user-session keyring as:

	keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 0)

will do.

This can be tested by commenting out pam_keyinit in the /etc/pam.d files and
running the following program a couple of times in a row:

	#include <stdio.h>
	#include <stdlib.h>
	#include <keyutils.h>
	int main(int argc, char *argv[])
	{
		key_serial_t uk, usk, sk, nsk;
		uk  = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_USER_KEYRING, 0);
		usk = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_USER_SESSION_KEYRING, 0);
		sk  = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 0);
		nsk = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 1);
		printf("keys: %08x %08x %08x %08x\n", uk, usk, sk, nsk);
		return 0;
	}

Without this patch, I see:

	keys: 3975ddc7 119c0c66 119c0c66 119c0c66
	keys: 3975ddc7 119c0c66 119c0c66 119c0c66

	keys: 2cb4997b 34112878 34112878 39f3c73e

As can be seen, the session keyring starts off the same as the user-session
keyring each time, but with the patch a new session keyring is created when
the create flag is set.

David Howells 995995378f KEYS: If install_session_keyring() is given a keyring, it should install it
If install_session_keyring() is given a keyring, it should install it rather
than just creating a new one anyway. This was accidentally broken in:

	commit d84f4f992c
	Author: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com>
	Date:   Fri Nov 14 10:39:23 2008 +1100
	Subject: CRED: Inaugurate COW credentials

The impact of that commit is that pam_keyinit no longer works correctly if
'force' isn't specified against a login process. This is because:

	keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 0)

now always creates a new session keyring and thus the check whether the session
keyring and the user-session keyring are the same is always false. This leads
pam_keyinit to conclude that a session keyring is installed and it shouldn't be
revoked by pam_keyinit here if 'revoke' is specified.

Any system that specifies 'force' against pam_keyinit in the PAM configuration
files for login methods (login, ssh, su -l, kdm, etc.) is not affected since
that bypasses the broken check and forces the creation of a new session keyring
anyway (for which the revoke flag is not cleared) - and any subsequent call to
pam_keyinit really does have a session keyring already installed, and so the
check works correctly there.

Reverting to the previous behaviour will cause the kernel to subscribe the
process to the user-session keyring as its session keyring if it doesn't have a
session keyring of its own. pam_keyinit will detect this and install a new
session keyring anyway (and won't clear the revert flag).

This can be tested by commenting out pam_keyinit in the /etc/pam.d files and
running the following program a couple of times in a row:

	#include <stdio.h>
	#include <stdlib.h>
	#include <keyutils.h>
	int main(int argc, char *argv[])
	{
		key_serial_t uk, usk, sk;
		uk = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_USER_KEYRING, 0);
		usk = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_USER_SESSION_KEYRING, 0);
		sk = keyctl_get_keyring_ID(KEY_SPEC_SESSION_KEYRING, 0);
		printf("keys: %08x %08x %08x\n", uk, usk, sk);
		return 0;
	}

Without the patch, I see:

	keys: 3884e281 24c4dfcf 22825f8e
	keys: 3884e281 24c4dfcf 068772be

With the patch, I see:

	keys: 26be9c83 0e755ce0 0e755ce0
	keys: 26be9c83 0e755ce0 0e755ce0

As can be seen, with the patch, the session keyring is the same as the
user-session keyring each time; without the patch a new session keyring is
generated each time.

____call_usermodehelper() now erases any credentials set by the
subprocess_inf::init() function. The problem is that commit
17f60a7da1 ("capabilites: allow the application of capability limits
to usermode helpers") creates and commits new credentials with
prepare_kernel_cred() after the call to the init() function. This wipes
all keyrings after umh_keys_init() is called.

The best way to deal with this is to put the init() call just prior to
the commit_creds() call, and pass the cred pointer to init(). That
means that umh_keys_init() and suchlike can modify the credentials
_before_ they are published and potentially in use by the rest of the
system.

This prevents request_key() from working as it is prevented from passing
the session keyring it set up with the authorisation token to
/sbin/request-key, and so the latter can't assume the authority to
instantiate the key. This causes the in-kernel DNS resolver to fail
with ENOKEY unconditionally.

Make request_key() and co. return an error for a negative or rejected key. If
the key was simply negated, then return ENOKEY, otherwise return the error
with which it was rejected.

Without this patch, the following command returns a key number (with the latest
keyutils):

	[root@andromeda ~]# keyctl request2 user debug:foo rejected @s
	586569904

Trying to print the key merely gets you a permission denied error:

	[root@andromeda ~]# keyctl print 586569904
	keyctl_read_alloc: Permission denied

Doing another request_key() call does get you the error, as long as it hasn't
expired yet:

David Howells 78b7280cce KEYS: Improve /proc/keys
Improve /proc/keys by:

 (1) Don't attempt to summarise the payload of a negated key. It won't have
     one. To this end, a helper function - key_is_instantiated() has been
     added that allows the caller to find out whether the key is positively
     instantiated (as opposed to being uninstantiated or negatively
     instantiated).

 (2) Do show keys that are negative, expired or revoked rather than hiding
     them. This requires an override flag (no_state_check) to be passed to
     search_my_process_keyrings() and keyring_search_aux() to suppress this
     check.

     Without this, keys that are possessed by the caller, but only grant
     permissions to the caller if possessed are skipped as the possession check
     fails.

     Keys that are visible due to user, group or other checks are visible with
     or without this patch.

David Howells ceb73c1204 KEYS: Fix __key_link_end() quota fixup on error
Fix __key_link_end()'s attempt to fix up the quota if an error occurs.

There are two erroneous cases: Firstly, we always decrease the quota if
the preallocated replacement keyring needs cleaning up, irrespective of
whether or not we should (we may have replaced a pointer rather than
adding another pointer).

Secondly, we never clean up the quota if we added a pointer without the
keyring storage being extended (we allocate multiple pointers at a time,
even if we're not going to use them all immediately).

We handle this by setting the bottom bit of the preallocation pointer in
__key_link_begin() to indicate that the quota needs fixing up, which is
then passed to __key_link() (which clears the whole thing) and
__key_link_end().

Mimi Zohar 7e70cb4978 keys: add new key-type encrypted
Define a new kernel key-type called 'encrypted'. Encrypted keys are kernel

Userspace only ever sees/stores encrypted blobs.

Changelog:

Mimi Zohar d00a1c72f7 keys: add new trusted key-type
Define a new kernel key-type called 'trusted'. Trusted keys are random
number symmetric keys, generated and RSA-sealed by the TPM. The TPM
only unseals the keys, if the boot PCRs and other criteria match.
Userspace can only ever see encrypted blobs.

Based on suggestions by Jason Gunthorpe, several new options have been
added to support additional usages.

The new options are:
migratable= designates that the key may/may not ever be updated
             (resealed under a new key, new pcrinfo or new auth.)

pcrlock=n extends the designated PCR 'n' with a random value,
             so that a key sealed to that PCR may not be unsealed
             again until after a reboot.

keyhandle= specifies the sealing/unsealing key handle.

keyauth= specifies the sealing/unsealing key auth.

blobauth= specifies the sealed data auth.

Implementation of a kernel reserved locality for trusted keys will be
investigated for a possible future extension.

Changelog:
- Updated and added examples to Documentation/keys-trusted-encrypted.txt
- Moved generic TPM constants to include/linux/tpm_command.h
  (David Howell's suggestion.)
- trusted_defined.c: replaced kzalloc with kmalloc, added pcrlock failure
  error handling, added const qualifiers where appropriate.
- moved to late_initcall
- updated from hash to shash (suggestion by David Howells)
- reduced worst stack usage (tpm_seal) from 530 to 312 bytes
- moved documentation to Documentation directory (suggestion by David Howells)
- all the other code cleanups suggested by David Howells
- Add pcrlock CAP_SYS_ADMIN dependency (based on comment by Jason Gunthorpe)
- New options: migratable, pcrlock, keyhandle, keyauth, blobauth (based on
  discussions with Jason Gunthorpe)
- Free payload on failure to create key(reported/fixed by Roberto Sassu)

if the parent process has no session keyring.

If the system is using pam_keyinit then it mostly protected against this as all
processes derived from a login will have inherited the session keyring created
by pam_keyinit during the log in procedure.

To test this, pam_keyinit calls need to be commented out in /etc/pam.d/.

Justin P. Mattock 5ad18a0d59 KEYS: Reinstate lost passing of process keyring ID in call_sbin_request_key()
In commit bb952bb98a there was the accidental
deletion of a statement from call_sbin_request_key() to render the process
keyring ID to a text string so that it can be passed to /sbin/request-key.

With gcc 4.6.0 this causes the following warning:

  CC      security/keys/request_key.o
security/keys/request_key.c: In function 'call_sbin_request_key':
security/keys/request_key.c:102:15: warning: variable 'prkey' set but not used

This patch reinstates that statement.

Without this statement, /sbin/request-key will get some random rubbish from the
stack as that parameter.

Note: since currently call_usermodehelper_keys() is never called with

David Howells 896903c2f5 KEYS: call_sbin_request_key() must write lock keyrings before modifying them
call_sbin_request_key() creates a keyring and then attempts to insert a link to
the authorisation key into that keyring, but does so without holding a write
lock on the keyring semaphore.

It will normally get away with this because it hasn't told anyone that the
keyring exists yet. The new keyring, however, has had its serial number
published, which means it can be accessed directly by that handle.

This was found by a previous patch that adds RCU lockdep checks to the code
that reads the keyring payload pointer, which includes a check that the keyring
semaphore is actually locked.

Without this patch, the following command:

	keyctl request2 user b a @s

will provoke the following lockdep warning is displayed in dmesg:

This problem is that find_keyring_by_name does not confirm that the keyring is
valid before accepting it.

Skipping keyrings that have been reduced to a zero count seems the way to go.
To this end, use atomic_inc_not_zero() to increment the usage count and skip
the candidate keyring if that returns false.

The following script _may_ cause the bug to happen, but there's no guarantee
as the window of opportunity is small:

	#!/bin/sh
	LOOP=100000
	USER=dummy_user
	/bin/su -c "exit;" $USER || { /usr/sbin/adduser -m $USER; add=1; }
	for ((i=0; i<LOOP; i++))
	do
		/bin/su -c "echo '$i' > /dev/null" $USER
	done
	(( add == 1 )) && /usr/sbin/userdel -r $USER
	exit

Note that the nominated user must not be in use.

An alternative way of testing this may be:

	for ((i=0; i<100000; i++))
	do
		keyctl session foo /bin/true || break
	done >&/dev/null

as that uses a keyring named "foo" rather than relying on the user and
user-session named keyrings.

David Howells cf8304e8f3 KEYS: Fix RCU handling in key_gc_keyring()
key_gc_keyring() needs to either hold the RCU read lock or hold the keyring
semaphore if it's going to scan the keyring's list. Given that it only needs
to read the key list, and it's doing so under a spinlock, the RCU read lock is
the thing to use.

Furthermore, the RCU check added in e7b0a61b79 is
incorrect as holding the spinlock on key_serial_lock is not grounds for
assuming a keyring's pointer list can be read safely. Instead, a simple
rcu_dereference() inside of the previously mentioned RCU read lock is what we
want.

David Howells 03449cd9ea keys: the request_key() syscall should link an existing key to the dest keyring
The request_key() system call and request_key_and_link() should make a
link from an existing key to the destination keyring (if supplied), not
just from a new key to the destination keyring.

This can be tested by:

	ring=`keyctl newring fred @s`
	keyctl request2 user debug:a a
	keyctl request user debug:a $ring
	keyctl list $ring

If it says:

	keyring is empty

then it didn't work. If it shows something like:

	1 key in keyring:
	1070462727: --alswrv     0     0 user: debug:a

then it did.

request_key() system call is meant to recursively search all your keyrings for
the key you desire, and, optionally, if it doesn't exist, call out to userspace
to create one for you.

If request_key() finds or creates a key, it should, optionally, create a link
to that key from the destination keyring specified.

Therefore, if, after a successful call to request_key() with a desination
keyring specified, you see the destination keyring empty, the code didn't work
correctly.

If you see the found key in the keyring, then it did - which is what the patch
is required for.

Tejun Heo 5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

  http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
  only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
  gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
  blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
  to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
  core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
  alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
  doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
  because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
  an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
   over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
   and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
   some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
   embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
   from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
   APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
   editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
   files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
   inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
   wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
   slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
   were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
   distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
   more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
   build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
   a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

David Howells 21279cfa10 KEYS: get_instantiation_keyring() should inc the keyring refcount in all cases
The destination keyring specified to request_key() and co. is made available to
the process that instantiates the key (the slave process started by
/sbin/request-key typically). This is passed in the request_key_auth struct as
the dest_keyring member.

keyctl_instantiate_key and keyctl_negate_key() call get_instantiation_keyring()
to get the keyring to attach the newly constructed key to at the end of
instantiation. This may be given a specific keyring into which a link will be
made later, or it may be asked to find the keyring passed to request_key(). In
the former case, it returns a keyring with the refcount incremented by
lookup_user_key(); in the latter case, it returns the keyring from the
request_key_auth struct - and does _not_ increment the refcount.

The latter case will eventually result in an oops when the keyring prematurely
runs out of references and gets destroyed. The effect may take some time to
show up as the key is destroyed lazily.

To fix this, the keyring returned by get_instantiation_keyring() must always
have its refcount incremented, no matter where it comes from.

This can be tested by setting /etc/request-key.conf to:

#OP	TYPE	DESCRIPTION	CALLOUT INFO	PROGRAM ARG1 ARG2 ARG3 ...
#======	=======	===============	===============	===============================
create  *	test:*		*		|/bin/false %u %g %d %{user:_display}
negate	*	*		*		/bin/keyctl negate %k 10 @u

and then doing:

	keyctl add user _display aaaaaaaa @u
        while keyctl request2 user test:x test:x @u &&
        keyctl list @u;
        do
                keyctl request2 user test:x test:x @u;
                sleep 31;
                keyctl list @u;
        done

which will oops eventually. Changing the negate line to have @u rather than
%S at the end is important as that forces the latter case by passing a special
keyring ID rather than an actual keyring ID.

David Howells c08ef808ef KEYS: Fix garbage collector
Fix a number of problems with the new key garbage collector:

 (1) A rogue semicolon in keyring_gc() was causing the initial count of dead
     keys to be miscalculated.

 (2) A missing return in keyring_gc() meant that under certain circumstances,
     the keyring semaphore would be unlocked twice.

 (3) The key serial tree iterator (key_garbage_collector()) part of the garbage
     collector has been modified to:

     (a) Complete each scan of the keyrings before setting the new timer.

     (b) Only set the new timer for keys that have yet to expire. This means
         that the new timer is now calculated correctly, and the gc doesn't
         get into a loop continually scanning for keys that have expired, and
         preventing other things from happening, like RCU cleaning up the old
         keyring contents.

     (c) Perform an extra scan if any keys were garbage collected in this one
     	 as a key might become garbage during a scan, and (b) could mean we
     	 don't set the timer again.

 (4) Made key_schedule_gc() take the time at which to do a collection run,

David Howells ee18d64c1f KEYS: Add a keyctl to install a process's session keyring on its parent [try #6]
Add a keyctl to install a process's session keyring onto its parent. This
replaces the parent's session keyring. Because the COW credential code does
not permit one process to change another process's credentials directly, the
change is deferred until userspace next starts executing again. Normally this
will be after a wait*() syscall.

To support this, three new security hooks have been provided:
cred_alloc_blank() to allocate unset security creds, cred_transfer() to fill in
the blank security creds and key_session_to_parent() - which asks the LSM if
the process may replace its parent's session keyring.

The replacement may only happen if the process has the same ownership details
as its parent, and the process has LINK permission on the session keyring, and
the session keyring is owned by the process, and the LSM permits it.

Note that this requires alteration to each architecture's notify_resume path.
This has been done for all arches barring blackfin, m68k* and xtensa, all of
which need assembly alteration to support TIF_NOTIFY_RESUME. This allows the
replacement to be performed at the point the parent process resumes userspace
execution.

This allows the userspace AFS pioctl emulation to fully emulate newpag() and
the VIOCSETTOK and VIOCSETTOK2 pioctls, all of which require the ability to
alter the parent process's PAG membership. However, since kAFS doesn't use
PAGs per se, but rather dumps the keys into the session keyring, the session
keyring of the parent must be replaced if, for example, VIOCSETTOK is passed
the newpag flag.

This can be tested with the following program:

	#include <stdio.h>
	#include <stdlib.h>
	#include <keyutils.h>

	#define KEYCTL_SESSION_TO_PARENT	18

	#define OSERROR(X, S) do { if ((long)(X) == -1) { perror(S); exit(1); } } while(0)

	int main(int argc, char **argv)
	{
		key_serial_t keyring, key;
		long ret;

		keyring = keyctl_join_session_keyring(argv[1]);
		OSERROR(keyring, "keyctl_join_session_keyring");

		key = add_key("user", "a", "b", 1, keyring);
		OSERROR(key, "add_key");

		ret = keyctl(KEYCTL_SESSION_TO_PARENT);
		OSERROR(ret, "KEYCTL_SESSION_TO_PARENT");

		return 0;
	}

Compiled and linked with -lkeyutils, you should see something like:

	[dhowells@andromeda ~]$ keyctl show
	Session Keyring
	       -3 --alswrv   4043  4043  keyring: _ses
	355907932 --alswrv   4043    -1   \_ keyring: _uid.4043
	[dhowells@andromeda ~]$ /tmp/newpag
	[dhowells@andromeda ~]$ keyctl show
	Session Keyring
	       -3 --alswrv   4043  4043  keyring: _ses
	1055658746 --alswrv   4043  4043   \_ user: a
	[dhowells@andromeda ~]$ /tmp/newpag hello
	[dhowells@andromeda ~]$ keyctl show
	Session Keyring
	       -3 --alswrv   4043  4043  keyring: hello
	340417692 --alswrv   4043  4043   \_ user: a

Where the test program creates a new session keyring, sticks a user key named
'a' into it and then installs it on its parent.

Serge E. Hallyn ad73a717e0 KEYS: Make /proc/keys use keyid not numread as file position [try #6]
Make the file position maintained by /proc/keys represent the ID of the key
just read rather than the number of keys read. This should make it faster to
perform a lookup as we don't have to scan the key ID tree from the beginning to
find the current position.
