This driver supports iLO, iLO2 and iLO3. However, comments and Kconfig
reference only iLO and iLO2. Let's just call it "iLO" to avoid having to
update strings for each iLO generation. This is similar to the change made
to hpwdt in commit 36e3ff44ce.

Packet hub driver of Topcliff PCH
Topcliff PCH is the platform controller hub that is going to be used in
Intel's upcoming general embedded platform. All IO peripherals in
Topcliff PCH are actually devices sitting on AMBA bus. Packet hub is
a special converter device in Topcliff PCH that translate AMBA transactions
to PCI Express transactions and vice versa. Thus packet hub helps present
all IO peripherals in Topcliff PCH as PCIE devices to IA system.
Topcliff PCH has MAC address and Option ROM data.
These data are in SROM which is connected to PCIE bus.
Packet hub driver of Topcliff PCH can access MAC address and Option ROM data in
SROM via sysfs interface.

In an effort to minimize customer confusion we want to unify naming
convention for VMware-provided kernel modules. This change renames the
balloon driver from vmware_ballon to vmw_balloon.
We expect to follow this naming convention (vmw_<module_name>) for all
modules that are part of mainline kernel and/or being distributed by
VMware, with the sole exception of vmxnet3 driver (since the name of
mainline driver happens to match with the name used in VMware Tools).

This driver adds support for the BMP085 digital pressure sensor from Bosch
Sensortec. It exposes a sysfs api to userspace where pressure and
temperature measurement results can be read from the pressure0_input and
temp0_input file. The chip is able to calculate the average of up to
eight samples to increase the accuracy. This feature can be controlled by
writing to the oversampling file.
The BMP085 digital pressure sensor can measure ambient air pressure and
temperature. Both values can be obtained from sysfs files. The pressure
is measured by reading from pressure0_input. Valid values range from
30000 to 110000 pascal with a resolution of 1 pascal (=0.01 millibar).
temp0_input holds the current temperature in degree celsius, multiplied by
10. This results in a resolution of a tenth degree celsius. Values range
from -400 to 850.
To increase the accuracy, this chip can calculate the average of 1, 2, 4
or 8 samples. This behavior is controlled through the oversampling sysfs
file. Two to the power of the value written to that file specifies how
many samples will be used. Valid values: 0..3.

Add support for ROHM BH1780GLI Ambient light sensor.
BH1780 supports I2C interface. Driver supports read/update of power state
and read of lux value (through SYSFS). Writing value 3 to power_state
enables the sensor and current lux value could be read.
Currently this driver follows the same sysfs convention as supported by
drivers/misc/isl29003.c.

This adds a driver for the character LCD found on the ARM Versatile
and RealView Platform Baseboards. It doesn't do very much more than
display the text "ARM Linux" on the first line and the linux banner
on the second line, but that's still useful.

This is a standalone version of VMware Balloon driver. Ballooning is a
technique that allows hypervisor dynamically limit the amount of memory
available to the guest (with guest cooperation). In the overcommit
scenario, when hypervisor set detects that it needs to shuffle some
memory, it instructs the driver to allocate certain number of pages, and
the underlying memory gets returned to the hypervisor. Later hypervisor
may return memory to the guest by reattaching memory to the pageframes and
instructing the driver to "deflate" balloon.
We are submitting a standalone driver because KVM maintainer (Avi Kivity)
expressed opinion (rightly) that our transport does not fit well into
virtqueue paradigm and thus it does not make much sense to integrate with
virtio.
There were also some concerns whether current ballooning technique is the
right thing. If there appears a better framework to achieve this we are
prepared to evaluate and switch to using it, but in the meantime we'd like
to get this driver upstream.
We want to get the driver accepted in distributions so that users do not
have to deal with an out-of-tree module and many distributions have
"upstream first" requirement.
The driver has been shipping for a number of years and users running on
VMware platform will have it installed as part of VMware Tools even if it
will not come from a distribution, thus there should not be additional
risk in pulling the driver into mainline. The driver will only activate
if host is VMware so everyone else should not be affected at all.

This is based on the old code on arch/x86/kernel/mfgpt_32.c, except it's
not x86 specific, it's modular, and it makes use of a PCI BAR rather than
a random MSR. Currently module unloading is not supported; it's uncertain
whether or not it can be made work with the hardware.

This patch adds Intel Wireless MultiCom 3200 top driver.
IWMC3200 is 4Wireless Com CHIP (GPS/BT/WiFi/WiMAX).
Top driver is responsible for device initialization and firmware download.
Firmware handled by top is responsible for top itself and
as well as bluetooth and GPS coms. (Wifi and WiMax provide their own firmware)
In addition top driver is used to retrieve firmware logs
and supports other debugging features

The EP93xx features two PWMs (one on the EP9307) with the following
features:
* Configurable dual output
* Separate input clocks for each PWM output
* 16-bit resolution
* Programmable pulse width (duty cycle), interval (frequency), and
polarity
This adds the necessary core support as well as the driver. A sysfs
interface is provided to control the PWM outputs.

Some current configs turn on GRU for ia64. The GRU code does not
correctly load on boot on ia64 (GRU does continue to work for x86-64), so
changing the IA64 Kconfig to not select GRU on ia64 configs for now until
we have time to fix.

Add a driver for controlling Dell-specific backlight and rfkill interfaces.
This driver makes use of the dcdbas interface to the Dell firmware to
allow the backlight and rfkill interfaces on Dell systems to be driven
through the standardised sysfs interfaces.

Move x86 platform specific drivers from drivers/misc/
to a new home under drivers/platform/x86/.
The community has been maintaining x86 vendor-specific
platform specific drivers under /drivers/misc/ for a few years.
The oldest ones started life under drivers/acpi.
They moved out of drivers/acpi/ because they don't actually
implement the ACPI specification, but either simply
use ACPI, or implement vendor-specific ACPI extensions.
In the future we anticipate...
drivers/misc/ will go away.

C2port implements a two wire serial communication protocol (bit
banging) designed to enable in-system programming, debugging, and
boundary-scan testing on low pin-count Silicon Labs devices.
Currently this code supports only flash programming through sysfs
interface but extensions shoud be easy to add.

Remove CONFIG_ACPI_EC. It was always set the same as CONFIG_ACPI,
and it had no menu label, so there was no way to set it to anything
other than "y".
Per section 6.5.4 of the ACPI 3.0b specification,
OSPM must make Embedded Controller operation regions, accessed
via the Embedded Controllers described in ECDT, available before
executing any control method.
The ECDT table is optional, but if it is present, the above text
means that the EC it describes is a required part of the ACPI
subsystem, so CONFIG_ACPI_EC=n wouldn't make sense.

Only three of Atmel's AT91 processors (SAM9263, SAM9RL and CAP9) include a
PWM controller.
It should therefore only be possible to enable the misc/atmel_pwm.c driver
on those processors (and not all AT91 processors).

This patch implements rfkill support for the wireless and bluetooth devices
commonly found on Acer laptops.
For now, we will always poll these devices once a second to guarantee we
can catch state changes. On newer Acer laptops, it may be possible to rely
on WMI events to do this instead, and experimental support for this will be
added in a later patch.
3G has been deliberately left off for now, as we still have no way to
detect it, (nor, AFAIK, has any Linux user tried the code) and on laptops
that don't support 3G, trying to poll for the status will leave the logs
full of ACPI tracebacks.
The old sysfs interface for wireless and bluetooth will be removed in a
later patch.

This is a driver for ACPI extras such as hotkeys and backlight
brightness control on various Panasonic "Let's Note" series laptop
computers.
It exports the backlight via the backlight class device API,
and the hotkeys as input event device. Some more esoteric
items like number of installed batteries are exported via sysfs
device attributes.
Hotkey events also generate old-style ACPI enents through
/proc/acpi/event to interoperate with current versions of acpid.

This driver adds support for reading and configuring certain information
on modern HP laptops with WMI BIOS interfaces. It supports enabling and
disabling the ambient light sensor, querying attached displays and hard
drive temperature, sending events on docking and querying the state of the
dock and toggling the state of the wifi, bluetooth and wwan hardware via
rfkill. It also makes the little "(i)" button work on machines that send
that via WMI rather than via the keyboard controller.

A driver for the HP iLO/iLO2 management processor, which allows userspace
programs to query the management processor. Programs can open a channel
to the device (/dev/hpilo/dXccbN), and use this to send/receive queries.
The O_EXCL open flag is used to indicate that a particular channel cannot
be shared between processes. This driver will replace various packages
HP has shipped, including hprsm and hp-ilo.

Add a read/write rfkill interface to the bluetooth radio switch on the
bluetooth submodule, and one for the wireless wan radio switch to the wan
submodule.
Since rfkill does care for when a switch changes state, use WLSW
notifications to also check if the WWAN or Bluetooth switches did not
change state (due to them being slaves of WLSW in firmware/hardware, but
that reality not being always properly exported by the thinkpad firmware).

Add additional capabilities to the Fujitsu-laptop driver.
* Brightness hotkey actions are sent to userspace. This can be disabled
using a module parameter if it causes issues with models which handle
these keys transparently in the BIOS.
* Actions of additional hotkeys found on some Fujitsu models (eg: the
suspend key and the dedicated "power on passphrase" keys) are broadcast
to userspace.
* An alternative brightness control method used by some Fujitsu models
(for example, the S6410) is now supported, enabling software brightness
controls on models using this method.
* DMI-based module aliases are configured for the S6410 and S7020.
* The current LCD brightness after booting should now be reflected in the
standard backlight interface sysfs file (previously it was always set to
0). The platform brightness sysfs interface has always been fine.
Thanks go to Peter Gruber who provided a significant portion of this code
and tested various iterations of the patch on his S6410.

This is driver for Compal Laptop: FL90/IFL90, based on MSI driver.
This driver exports a few files in /sys/devices/platform/compal-laptop/:
lcd_level - screen brightness: contains a single integer in the range 0..7 (rw)
wlan - wlan subsystem state: contains 0 or 1 (rw)
bluetooth - bluetooth subsystem state: contains 0 or 1 (rw)
raw - raw value taken from embedded controller register (ro)
In addition to these platform device attributes the driver registers itself
in the Linux backlight control subsystem and is available to userspace under
/sys/class/backlight/compal-laptop/.

Add missing select for BACKLIGHT_LCD_SUPPORT, as select doesn't select the
dependencies of a symbol for us.
Also, "select INPUT" in Kconfig. We are not an Input device, nor are we
anywhere close to the input subsystem in the Kconfig tree, so using
"depends on INPUT" is not user-friendly at all.

Clocksource and clockevent device based on the Atmel TC blocks.
The clockevent device handles both periodic and oneshot modes, so this
enables NO_HZ and high res timers on some platforms that previously
couldn't use those mechanisms.
This works on both AVR32 and AT91 chips, given relevant patches for
tclib support (always) and clockevents (or else this will only look
like a higher precision clocksource). It's an updated and modularized
version of an AT91-only patch that has circulated for some time now.
Changes relative to the original patch:
* Update to use new tclib API
* Replace open-coded do-while loop using goto with a real do-while loop
* Minor irq handler optimization: Load register base address from
dev_id instead of a global variable.
* Aggressively turn off clocks when the clockevent isn't being used
* Include the clockevent code on AT91RM9200 as well. The rating is
lower than the System Timer, so the clock will usually stay off.
* Don't assume that the number of clocks is always equal to the
number of irqs.

Create <linux/atmel_tc.h> based on <asm-arm/arch-at91/at91-tc.h> and the
at91sam9263 and at32ap7000 datasheets. Most AT91 and AT32 SOCs have one
or two of these TC blocks, which include three 16-bit timers that can be
interconnected in various ways.
These TC blocks can be used for external interfacing (such as PWM and
measurement), or used as somewhat quirky sixteen-bit timers.
Changes relative to the original version:
* Drop unneeded inclusion of <linux/mutex.h>
* Support an arbitrary number of TC blocks
* Return a struct with information about a TC block from
atmel_tc_alloc() instead of using a combination of return values
and "out" parameters.
* ioremap() the I/O registers on allocation
* Look up clocks and irqs for all channels
* Add "name" parameter to atmel_tc_alloc() and use this when
requesting the iomem resource.
* Check if the platform provided the necessary resources at probe()
time instead of when the TCB is allocated.

The video output port control feature is not very useful on many ThinkPads
(especially when a X server is running), and lately userspace is getting
better and better at it, so it makes sense to allow users to stripe out the
thinkpad-acpi video feature from their kernels and save at least 2KB.

It is safe for these Kconfig entries to use select because
they select ACPI_WMI, which already has its dependencies
satisfied. This makes Kconfig more user friendly, since
the user selects the driver they want and the dependency
is met for them. Otherwise, the user would have to find
and enable ACPI_WMI to make enabling these drivers possible.

Older ThinkPad models do not export some of the hot keys over the
event-based ACPI hot key interface. For these models, one has to poll
the CMOS NVRAM to check the key state at a rate faster than the expected
rate at which the user might repeatedly press the same hot key.
This patch implements this functionality for many of the hotkeys in a
transparent way: hot keys will now Just Work, and the driver knows the
best approach (events or NVRAM polling) to employ, based on the
HKEY.MHKA ACPI method.
Also, the driver can turn off the polling when there are no users for
the hot keys that need such polling.
The NVRAM-based hot keys of the A3x series that have never been
implemented by later models are not supported, to avoid changes in the
keymap of the input devices that could cause headaches in the future.
There is a Kconfig option to avoid compiling the NVRAM polling code, as
it is not very small, and unlikely to be useful on any ThinkPad newer
than a T40, X31 or R52.
This feature is based on a previous effort by Richard Hughes.

Fix up conflicts in drivers/misc/thinkpad_acpi.[ch] manually
The Synchronous Serial Controller (SSC) on Atmel microprocessors are
capable of tranceiving many frame based protocols, like I2S. Tested on the
AT32AP7000/ATSTK1000.
This driver is used in the ALSA sound driver for the AT73C213 external DAC
on the ATSTK1000 development board for AVR32. This sound driver will be
submitted soon.

Revert new 2.6.23 CONFIG_THINKPAD_ACPI_INPUT_ENABLED Kconfig option because
it would create a legacy we don't want to support.
CONFIG_THINKPAD_ACPI_INPUT_ENABLED was added to try to fix an issue that is
now moot with the addition of the netlink ACPI event report interface to
the ACPI core.
Now that ACPI core can send events over netlink, we can use a different
strategy to keep backwards compatibility with older userspace, without the
need for the CONFIG_THINKPAD_ACPI_INPUT_ENABLED games. And it arrived
before CONFIG_THINKPAD_ACPI_INPUT_ENABLED made it to a stable mainline
kernel, even, which is Good.
This patch is in sync with some changes to thinkpad-acpi backports, that
will keep things sane for userspace across different combinations of kernel
versions, thinkpad-acpi backports (or the lack thereof), and userspace
capabilities:
Unless a module parameter is used, thinkpad-acpi will now behave in such a
way that it will work well (by default) with userspace that still uses only
the old ACPI procfs event interface and doesn't care for thinkpad-acpi
input devices.
It will also always work well with userspace that has been updated to use
both the thinkpad-acpi input devices, and ACPI core netlink event
interface, regardless of any module parameter.
The module parameter was added to allow thinkpad-acpi to work with
userspace that has been partially updated to use thinkpad-acpi input
devices, but not the new ACPI core netlink event interface. To use this
mode of hot key reporting, one has to specify the hotkey_report_mode=2
module parameter.
The thinkpad-acpi driver exports the value of hotkey_report_mode through
sysfs, as well. thinkpad-acpi backports to older kernels, that do not
support the new ACPI core netlink interface, have code to allow userspace
to switch hotkey_report_mode at runtime through sysfs. This capability
will not be provided in mainline thinkpad-acpi as it is not needed there.

The current kconfig help text was misleading users. Also, the default for
an input-layer-optimized support caused way too many problems without
up-to-date userspace in place.
So, rework the help text, and change the default to N. Note that
distributions are supposed to enable this option as soon as they update HAL
to a version that handles the thinkpad-acpi new input layer interface.

It appears that Lenovo decided to break the EC brightness control interface
in a weird way in their latest BIOSes. Fortunately, the old CMOS NVRAM
interface works just fine in such BIOSes.
Add a module parameter that allows the user to select which strategy to use
for brightness control: EC, NVRAM, or both. By default, do both (which is
the way thinkpad-acpi used to work until now) on IBM ThinkPads, and use
NVRAM only on Lenovo ThinkPads.

Make the input layer the default way to deal with thinkpad-acpi hot keys,
but add a kernel config option to retain the old way of doing things.
This means we map a lot more keys to useful stuff by default, and also that
we enable hot key handling by default on driver load (like Windows does).
The documentation for proper use of this resource is also updated.

Make a "menuconfig" out of the Kconfig objects "menu, ..., endmenu",
so that the user can disable all the options in that menu at once

Yeah, we could have just disabled it, but there's work on a new one that
isn't as fundamentally broken, so there really doesn't seem to be any
point in keeping it around.
The recent timer cleanup broke the only valid use, and when I say
"valid", I obviously mean "totally broken". So it's not like it works,
or really even can work in the current format that uses the unsafe
"panic" LED blinking routines..

Adds backlight support using backlight class. We now
change the brightness *and toggle the backlight !* via
/sys/class/backlight/asus-laptop/.
If the user switchs the backlight using the keyboard,
asus_hotk_notify looks for ATKD_LCD_OFF and ATKD_LCD_ON events,
and stores the right state into hotk->status and bd->props->power .

Add led support, using generic led class. Thomas Tuttle's patch
<http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/7/6/247> was very usefull. We use
hotk->status to store led status because it's very hard to find
acpi method to get the right status... To reduce the code,
I use a lot of macro (ASUS_LED, ASUS_LED_REGISTER, etc ...),
because the code is the same for all leds ...

Adds the new driver and make ASUS_LAPTOP and ACPI_ASUS
incompatible. It may be strange to use ASUS_CREATE_DEVICE_ATTR
and ASUS_SET_DEVICE_ATTR now, but these macro will be very
usefull in next patchs. ASUS_HANDLE and ASUS_HANDLE_INIT comes
from IBM_HANDLE and IBM_HANDLE_INIT, with some modification,
and will also be used in next patchs.

The SGI PCI-RT card, based on the SGI IOC4 chip, will be made available on
Altix XE (x86_64) platforms in the near future. As such it is now a
misnomer for the IOC4 base device driver to live under drivers/sn, and
would complicate builds for non-SN2.
This patch moves the IOC4 base driver code from drivers/sn to drivers/misc,
and updates the associated Makefiles and Kconfig files to allow building on
non-SN2 configs. Due to the resulting change in link order, it is now
necessary to use late_initcall() for IOC4 subdriver initialization.

Create a driver to support the platform-specific features
of MSI S270 laptops (and maybe other MSI laptops).
This driver implements a backlight device for controlling LCD brightness
(/sys/class/backlight/msi-laptop-bl/).
In addition it allows access to the WLAN and Bluetooth states
through a platform driver (/sys/devices/platform/msi-laptop-pf/).

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
