The m25p80 driver is actually a generic wrapper around the spi-mem layer. Not only the driver name is misleading, but we'd expect such a common logic to be directly available in the core. Another reason for moving this code is that SPI NOR controller drivers should progressively be replaced by SPI controller drivers implementing the spi_mem_ops interface, and when the conversion is done, we should have a single spi-nor driver directly interfacing with the spi-mem layer. While moving the code we also fix a longstanding issue when non-DMA-able buffers are passed by the MTD layer. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
