hmp: Name HMP command handler functions hmp_COMMAND()
Some are called do_COMMAND() (old ones, usually), some hmp_COMMAND(),
and sometimes COMMAND pointlessly differs in spelling.
Normalize to hmp_COMMAND(), where COMMAND is exactly the command name
with '-' replaced by '_'.
Exceptions:
* do_device_add() and client_migrate_info() *not* renamed to
hmp_device_add(), hmp_client_migrate_info(), because they're also
QMP handlers. They still need to be converted to QAPI.
* do_memory_dump(), do_physical_memory_dump(), do_ioport_read(),
do_ioport_write() renamed do hmp_* instead of hmp_x(), hmp_xp(),
hmp_i(), hmp_o(), because those names are too cryptic for my taste.
* do_info_help() renamed to hmp_info_help() instead of hmp_info(),
because it only covers help.

Commit changes to the disk images (if -snapshot is used) or backing files.
|
2014-01-24 15:02:37 +01:00
|
|
|
If the backing file is smaller than the snapshot, then the backing file will be
|
|
|
|
resized to be the same size as the snapshot. If the snapshot is smaller than
|
|
|
|
the backing file, the backing file will not be truncated. If you want the
|
|
|
|
backing file to match the size of the smaller snapshot, you can safely truncate
|
|
|
|
it yourself once the commit operation successfully completes.

qemu-char: Saner naming of memchar stuff & doc fixes
New device, has never been released, so we can still improve things
without worrying about compatibility.
Naming is a mess. The code calls the device driver CirMemCharDriver,
the public API calls it "memory", "memchardev", or "memchar", and the
special commands are named like "memchar-FOO". "memory" is a
particularly unfortunate choice, because there's another character
device driver called MemoryDriver. Moreover, the device's distinctive
property is that it's a ring buffer, not that's in memory. Therefore:
* Rename CirMemCharDriver to RingBufCharDriver, and call the thing a
"ringbuf" in the API.
* Rename QMP and HMP commands from memchar-FOO to ringbuf-FOO.
* Rename device parameter from maxcapacity to size (simple words are
good for you).
* Clearly mark the parameter as optional in documentation.
* Fix error reporting so that chardev-add reports to current monitor,
not stderr.
* Replace cirmem in C identifiers by ringbuf.
* Rework documentation. Document the impact of our crappy UTF-8
handling on reading.
* QMP examples that even work.
I could split this up into multiple commits, but they'd change the
same documentation lines multiple times. Not worth it.

hmp: Name HMP command handler functions hmp_COMMAND()
Some are called do_COMMAND() (old ones, usually), some hmp_COMMAND(),
and sometimes COMMAND pointlessly differs in spelling.
Normalize to hmp_COMMAND(), where COMMAND is exactly the command name
with '-' replaced by '_'.
Exceptions:
* do_device_add() and client_migrate_info() *not* renamed to
hmp_device_add(), hmp_client_migrate_info(), because they're also
QMP handlers. They still need to be converted to QAPI.
* do_memory_dump(), do_physical_memory_dump(), do_ioport_read(),
do_ioport_write() renamed do hmp_* instead of hmp_x(), hmp_xp(),
hmp_i(), hmp_o(), because those names are too cryptic for my taste.
* do_info_help() renamed to hmp_info_help() instead of hmp_info(),
because it only covers help.

hmp: Name HMP command handler functions hmp_COMMAND()
Some are called do_COMMAND() (old ones, usually), some hmp_COMMAND(),
and sometimes COMMAND pointlessly differs in spelling.
Normalize to hmp_COMMAND(), where COMMAND is exactly the command name
with '-' replaced by '_'.
Exceptions:
* do_device_add() and client_migrate_info() *not* renamed to
hmp_device_add(), hmp_client_migrate_info(), because they're also
QMP handlers. They still need to be converted to QAPI.
* do_memory_dump(), do_physical_memory_dump(), do_ioport_read(),
do_ioport_write() renamed do hmp_* instead of hmp_x(), hmp_xp(),
hmp_i(), hmp_o(), because those names are too cryptic for my taste.
* do_info_help() renamed to hmp_info_help() instead of hmp_info(),
because it only covers help.

Support for TPM command line options
This patch adds support for TPM command line options.
The command line options supported here are
./qemu-... -tpmdev passthrough,path=<path to TPM device>,id=<id>
-device tpm-tis,tpmdev=<id>,id=<other id>
and
./qemu-... -tpmdev help
where the latter works similar to -soundhw help and shows a list of
available TPM backends (for example 'passthrough').
Using the type parameter, the backend is chosen, i.e., 'passthrough' for the
passthrough driver. The interpretation of the other parameters along
with determining whether enough parameters were provided is pushed into
the backend driver, which needs to implement the interface function
'create' and return a TPMDriverOpts structure if the VM can be started or
'NULL' if not enough or bad parameters were provided.
Monitor support for 'info tpm' has been added. It for example prints the
following:
(qemu) info tpm
TPM devices:
tpm0: model=tpm-tis
\ tpm0: type=passthrough,path=/dev/tpm0,cancel-path=/sys/devices/pnp0/00:09/cancel
