b317006a3f docs/secure-coding-practices: Describe how to use 'null-co' block driver

29f2316761 docs: fix references to docs/devel/atomics.rst
Commit 15e8699f00 ("atomics: convert to reStructuredText") converted
docs/devel/atomics.txt to docs/devel/atomics.rst.

We still have several references to the old file, so let's fix them
with the following command:

  sed -i s/atomics.txt/atomics.rst/ $(git grep -l docs/devel/atomics.txt)

73e6aec652 sphinx: adopt kernel readthedoc theme
The default "alabaster" sphinx theme has a couple shortcomings:
- the navbar moves along the page
- the search bar is not always at the same place
- it lacks some contrast and colours

The "rtd" theme from readthedocs.org is a popular third party theme used
notably by the kernel, with a custom style sheet. I like it better,
perhaps others do too. It also simplifies the "Edit on Gitlab" links.

Tweak a bit the custom theme to match qemu.org style, use the
QEMU logo, and favicon etc.

c81cfb89bc docs: Add a QEMU Code of Conduct and Conflict Resolution Policy document
In an ideal world, we would all get along together very well, always be
polite and never end up in huge conflicts. And even if there are conflicts,
we would always handle each other fair and respectfully. Unfortunately,
this is not an ideal world and sometimes people forget how to interact with
each other in a professional and respectful way. Fortunately, this seldom
happens in the QEMU community, but for such rare cases it is preferrable
to have a basic code of conduct document available to show to people
who are misbehaving. In case that does not help yet, we should also have
a conflict resolution policy ready that can be applied in the worst case.

The Code of Conduct document tries to be short and to the point while
trying to remain friendly and welcoming; it is based on the Fedora Code
of Conduct[1] with extra detail added based on the Contributor Covenant
1.3.0[2]. Other proposals included the Contributor Covenant 1.3.0 itself
or the Django Code of Conduct[3] (which is also a derivative of Fedora's)
but, in any case, there was agreement on keeping the conflict resolution
policy separate from the CoC itself.

An important point is whether to apply the code of conduct to violations
that occur outside public spaces. The text herein restricts that to
individuals acting as a representative or a member of the project or
its community. This is intermediate between the Contributor Covenant
(which only mentions representatives of the community, for example using
an official project e-mail address or posting via an official social media
account), and the Django Code of Conduct, which says that violations of
this code outside these spaces "may" be considered but otherwise applies
no limit.

The conflict resolution policy is based on the Drupal Conflict Resolution
Policy[4] and its derivative, the Mozilla Consequence Ladder[5].

cbde7be900 migrate: remove QMP/HMP commands for speed, downtime and cache size
The generic 'migrate_set_parameters' command handle all types of param.

Only the QMP commands were documented in the deprecations page, but the
rationale for deprecating applies equally to HMP, and the replacements
exist. Furthermore the HMP commands are just shims to the QMP commands,
so removing the latter breaks the former unless they get re-implemented.

5ee0abed51 clock: Add ClockEvent parameter to callbacks
The Clock framework allows users to specify a callback which is
called after the clock's period has been updated. Some users need to
also have a callback which is called before the clock period is
updated.

As the first step in adding support for notifying Clock users on
pre-update events, add an argument to the ClockCallback to specify
what event is being notified, and add an argument to the various
functions for registering a callback to specify which events are
of interest to that callback.

Note that the documentation update renders correct the previously
incorrect claim in 'Adding a new clock' that callbacks "will be
explained in a following section".

a622d64eea plugins: new hwprofile plugin
This is a plugin intended to help with profiling access to various
bits of system hardware. It only really makes sense for system
emulation.

It takes advantage of the recently exposed helper API that allows us
to see the device name (memory region name) associated with a device.

You can specify arg=read or arg=write to limit the tracking to just
reads or writes (by default it does both).

The pattern option:

  -plugin ./tests/plugin/libhwprofile.so,arg=pattern

will allow you to see the access pattern to devices, eg:

  gic_cpu @ 0xffffffc010040000
    off:00000000, 8, 1, 8, 1
    off:00000000, 4, 1, 4, 1
    off:00000000, 2, 1, 2, 1
    off:00000000, 1, 1, 1, 1

The source option:

  -plugin ./tests/plugin/libhwprofile.so,arg=source

will track the virtual source address of the instruction making the
access:

  pl011 @ 0xffffffc010031000
    pc:ffffffc0104c785c, 1, 4, 0, 0
    pc:ffffffc0104c7898, 1, 4, 0, 0
    pc:ffffffc010512bcc, 2, 1867, 0, 0

You cannot mix source and pattern.

Finally the match option allow you to limit the tracking to just the
devices you care about.

d7dedf428f meson: accept either shared or static libraries if --disable-static
Meson's "static" argument to cc.find_library is a tri-state. By default
Meson *prefers* a shared library, which basically means using -l to
look for it; instead, "static: false" *requires* a shared library. Of
course, "static: true" requires a static library, which is all good
for --enable-static builds.

For --disable-static, "static: false" is rarely desirable; it does not
match what the configure script used to do and the test is more complex
(and harder to debug if it fails, which was reported by Peter Lieven
for librbd).

0dfb3ca73c trace: update docs with meson build information
The documentation still refers to the makefile and the old sub-directory
layout. Meson works differently: tracetool output is placed into the
builddir with mangled filenames like <builddir>/trace/trace-accel_kvm.h
for the accel/kvm/ trace.h definition.

This meson setup also requires a manually-created accel/kvm/trace.h file
that #includes the <builddir>/trace/trace-accel_kvm.h file. Document
this!

b25a948875 iotests: add findtests.py
Add python script with new logic of searching for tests:

Current ./check behavior:
 - tests are named [0-9][0-9][0-9]
 - tests must be registered in group file (even if test doesn't belong
   to any group, like 142)

Behavior of findtests.py:
 - group file is dropped
 - tests are all files in tests/ subdirectory (except for .out files),
so it's not needed more to "register the test", just create it with
appropriate name in tests/ subdirectory. Old names like
[0-9][0-9][0-9] (in root iotests directory) are supported too, but
   not recommended for new tests
 - groups are parsed from '# group: ' line inside test files
 - optional file group.local may be used to define some additional
   groups for downstreams
 - 'disabled' group is used to temporary disable tests. So instead of
commenting tests in old 'group' file you now can add them to
disabled group with help of 'group.local' file
 - selecting test ranges like 5-15 are not supported more
(to support restarting failed ./check command from the middle of the
process, new argument is added: --start-from)

Benefits:
 - no rebase conflicts in group file on patch porting from branch to
   branch
 - no conflicts in upstream, when different series want to occupy same
   test number
 - meaningful names for test files
For example, with digital number, when some person wants to add some
test about block-stream, he most probably will just create a new
test. But if there would be test-block-stream test already, he will
at first look at it and may be just add a test-case into it.
And anyway meaningful names are better.

This commit doesn't update check behavior (which will be done in
further commit), still, the documentation changed like new behavior is
already here. Let's live with this small inconsistency for the
following few commits, until final change.

b93f4fbdc4 docs: Build and install all the docs in a single manual
When we first converted our documentation to Sphinx, we split it into
multiple manuals (system, interop, tools, etc), which are all built
separately. The primary driver for this was wanting to be able to
avoid shipping the 'devel' manual to end-users. However, this is
working against the grain of the way Sphinx wants to be used and
causes some annoyances:
 * Cross-references between documents become much harder or
   possibly impossible
 * There is no single index to the whole documentation
 * Within one manual there's no links or table-of-contents info
that lets you easily navigate to the others
 * The devel manual doesn't get published on the QEMU website
(it would be nice to able to refer to it there)

Merely hiding our developer documentation from end users seems like
it's not enough benefit for these costs. Combine all the
documentation into a single manual (the same way that the readthedocs
site builds it) and install the whole thing. The previous manual
divisions remain as the new top level sections in the manual.

 * The per-manual conf.py files are no longer needed
 * The man_pages[] specifications previously in each per-manual
conf.py move to the top level conf.py
 * docs/meson.build logic is simplified as we now only need to run
Sphinx once for the HTML and then once for the manpages5B
 * The old index.html.in that produced the top-level page with
links to each manual is no longer needed

Unfortunately this means that we now have to build the HTML
documentation into docs/manual in the build tree rather than directly
into docs/; otherwise it is too awkward to ensure we install only the
built manual and not also the dependency info, stamp file, etc. The
manual still ends up in the same place in the final installed
directory, but anybody who was consulting documentation from within
the build tree will have to adjust where they're looking.

554d523785 clock: Introduce clock_ticks_to_ns()
The clock_get_ns() API claims to return the period of a clock in
nanoseconds. Unfortunately since it returns an integer and a
clock's period is represented in units of 2^-32 nanoseconds,
the result is often an approximation, and calculating a clock
expiry deadline by multiplying clock_get_ns() by a number-of-ticks
is unacceptably inaccurate.

Introduce a new API clock_ticks_to_ns() which returns the number
of nanoseconds it takes the clock to make a given number of ticks.
This function can do the complete calculation internally and
will thus give a more accurate result.

54aa3de72e qapi: Use QAPI_LIST_PREPEND() where possible
Anywhere we create a list of just one item or by prepending items
(typically because order doesn't matter), we can use
QAPI_LIST_PREPEND(). But places where we must keep the list in order
by appending remain open-coded until later patches.

Note that as a side effect, this also performs a cleanup of two minor
issues in qga/commands-posix.c: the old code was performing
 new = g_malloc0(sizeof(*ret));
which 1) is confusing because you have to verify whether 'new' and
'ret' are variables with the same type, and 2) would conflict with C++
compilation (not an actual problem for this file, but makes
copy-and-paste harder).

09e93326e4 build: replace ninjatool with ninja
Now that the build is done entirely by Meson, there is no need
to keep the Makefile conversion. Instead, we can ask Ninja about
the targets it exposes and forward them.

The main advantages are, from smallest to largest:

- reducing the possible namespace pollution within the Makefile

- removal of a relatively large Python program

- faster build because parsing Makefile.ninja is slower than
parsing build.ninja; and faster build after Meson runs because
we do not have to generate Makefile.ninja.

- tracking of command lines, which provides more accurate rebuilds

In addition the change removes the requirement for GNU make 3.82, which
was annoying on Mac, and avoids bugs on Windows due to ninjatool not
knowing how to convert Windows escapes to POSIX escapes.

bb4b9ead95 hmp: Add support for coroutine command handlers
Often, QMP command handlers are not only called to handle QMP commands,
but also from a corresponding HMP command handler. In order to give them
a consistent environment, optionally run HMP command handlers in a

The implementation is a lot simpler than in QMP because for HMP, we

aaaa20b69b scripts: add block-coroutine-wrapper.py
We have a very frequent pattern of creating a coroutine from a function
with several arguments:

  - create a structure to pack parameters
  - create _entry function to call original function taking parameters
    from struct
  - do different magic to handle completion: set ret to NOT_DONE or
EINPROGRESS or use separate bool field
  - fill the struct and create coroutine from _entry function with this
    struct as a parameter
  - do coroutine enter and BDRV_POLL_WHILE loop

Let's reduce code duplication by generating coroutine wrappers.

This patch adds scripts/block-coroutine-wrapper.py together with some
friends, which will generate functions with declared prototypes marked
by the 'generated_co_wrapper' specifier.

The usage of new code generation is as follows:

    1. define the coroutine function somewhere

        int coroutine_fn bdrv_co_NAME(...) {...}

    2. declare in some header file

        int generated_co_wrapper bdrv_NAME(...);

with same list of parameters (generated_co_wrapper is
       defined in "include/block/block.h").

    3. Make sure the block_gen_c declaration in block/meson.build
mentions the file with your marker function.

Still, no function is now marked, this work is for the following
commit.

55ec69f8b1 docs/devel/qapi-code-gen.txt: Update to new rST backend conventions
Update the documentation of QAPI document comment syntax to match
the new rST backend requirements. The principal changes are:
 * whitespace is now significant, and multiline definitions
must have their second and subsequent lines indented to
   match the first line
 * general rST format markup is permitted, not just the small
set of markup the old texinfo generator handled. For most
things (notably bulleted and itemized lists) the old format
was the same as rST is.
 * Specific things that might trip people up:
   - instead of *bold* and _italic_ rST has **bold** and *italic*
   - lists need a preceding and following blank line
   - a lone literal '*' will need to be backslash-escaped to
     avoid a rST syntax error
 * the old leading '|' for example (literal text) blocks is
replaced by the standard rST '::' literal block.
 * we support arbitrary levels of sub- and sub-sub-heading, not
just a main and sub-heading like the old texinfo generator
 * lists can now be nested

a69a6d4b4d scripts/qapi/parser.py: improve doc comment indent handling
Make the handling of indentation in doc comments more sophisticated,
so that when we see a section like:

Notes: some text
       some more text
          indented line 3

we save it for the doc-comment processing code as:

some text
some more text
   indented line 3

and when we see a section with the heading on its own line:

Notes:

some text
some more text
   indented text

we also accept that and save it in the same form.

If we detect that the comment document text is not indented as much
as we expect it to be, we throw a parse error. (We don't complain
about over-indented sections, because for rST this can be legitimate
markup.)

The golden reference for the doc comment text is updated to remove
the two 'wrong' indents; these now form a test case that we correctly
stripped leading whitespace from an indented multi-line argument
definition.

We update the documentation in docs/devel/qapi-code-gen.txt to
describe the new indentation rules.

d73415a315 qemu/atomic.h: rename atomic_ to qatomic_
clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type
pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a
compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file
that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file:

  $ CC=clang CXX=clang++ ./configure ... && make
../util/async.c:79:17: error: address argument to atomic operation must be a pointer to _Atomic type ('unsigned int *' invalid)

Avoid using atomic_*() names in QEMU's atomic.h since that namespace is
used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h
and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and
searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none.

This patch was generated using:

  $ git grep -h -o '\<atomic\(64\)\?_[a-z0-9_]\+' include/qemu/atomic.h | \
    sort -u >/tmp/changed_identifiers
$ for identifier in $(</tmp/changed_identifiers); do
        sed -i "s%\<$identifier\>%q$identifier%g" \
            $(git grep -I -l "\<$identifier\>")
    done

I manually fixed line-wrap issues and misaligned rST tables.

c17a386b6a plugins: move the more involved plugins to contrib
We have an exploding complexity problem in the testing so lets just
move the more involved plugins into contrib. tests/plugins still exist
for the basic plugins that exercise the API. We restore the old
pre-meson style Makefile for contrib as it also doubles as a guide for
out-of-tree plugin builds.

221db5daf6 qapi: enable use of g_autoptr with QAPI types
Currently QAPI generates a type and function for free'ing it:

  typedef struct QCryptoBlockCreateOptions QCryptoBlockCreateOptions;
  void qapi_free_QCryptoBlockCreateOptions(QCryptoBlockCreateOptions *obj);

This is used in the traditional manner:

  QCryptoBlockCreateOptions *opts = NULL;

  opts = g_new0(QCryptoBlockCreateOptions, 1);

  ....do stuff with opts...

  qapi_free_QCryptoBlockCreateOptions(opts);

Since bumping the min glib to 2.48, QEMU has incrementally adopted the
use of g_auto/g_autoptr. This allows the compiler to run a function to
free a variable when it goes out of scope, the benefit being the
compiler can guarantee it is freed in all possible code ptahs.

This benefit is applicable to QAPI types too, and given the seriously
long method names for some qapi_free_XXXX() functions, is much less
typing. This change thus makes the code generator emit:

 G_DEFINE_AUTOPTR_CLEANUP_FUNC(QCryptoBlockCreateOptions,
                              qapi_free_QCryptoBlockCreateOptions)

The above code example now becomes

  g_autoptr(QCryptoBlockCreateOptions) opts = NULL;

  opts = g_new0(QCryptoBlockCreateOptions, 1);

  ....do stuff with opts...

Note, if the local pointer needs to live beyond the scope holding the
variable, then g_steal_pointer can be used. This is useful to return the
pointer to the caller in the success codepath, while letting it be freed
in all error codepaths.

  return g_steal_pointer(&opts);

The crypto/block.h header needs updating to avoid symbol clash now that
the g_autoptr support is a standard QAPI feature.

1a94933fcc meson: use pkg-config method to find dependencies
We do not need to ask cmake for the dependencies, so just use the
pkg-config mechanism. Keep "auto" for SDL so that it tries using
sdl-config too.

The documentation is adjusted to use SDL2_image as the example,
rather than SDL which does not use the "pkg-config" method.

a81df1b68b libqemuutil, qapi, trace: convert to meson
This shows how to do some "computations" in meson.build using its array
and dictionary data structures, and also a basic usage of the sourceset
module for conditional compilation.

Notice the new "if have_system" part of util/meson.build, which fixes
a bug in the old build system was buggy: util/dbus.c was built even for
non-softmmu builds, but the dependency on -lgio was lost when the linking
was done through libqemuutil.a. Because all of its users required gio
otherwise, the bug was hidden. Meson instead propagates libqemuutil's
dependencies down to its users, and shows the problem.

Some of the constraints on operand sizes have been relaxed, so adjust the

Deprecate atomic_mb_read and atomic_mb_set; it is not really possible to

Finally, extend the memory barrier pairing section to cover acquire and

013b4efc9b qapi: Add feature flags to remaining definitions
In v4.1.0, we added feature flags just to struct types (commit
6a8c0b5102^..f3ed93d545), to satisfy an immediate need (commit
c9d4070991 "file-posix: Add dynamic-auto-read-only QAPI feature"). In
v4.2.0, we added them to commands (commit 23394b4c39 "qapi: Add
feature flags to commands") to satisfy another immediate need (commit
d76744e65e "qapi: Allow introspecting fix for savevm's cooperation
with blockdev").

Add them to the remaining definitions: enumeration types, union types,
alternate types, and events.

6fe6d6c9a9 docs: Be consistent about capitalization of 'Arm'
The company 'Arm' went through a rebranding some years back
involving a recapitalization from 'ARM' to 'Arm'. As a result
our documentation is a bit inconsistent between the two forms.
It's not worth trying to update everywhere in QEMU, but it's
easy enough to make docs/ consistent.

Note that "ARMv8" and similar architecture names, and
older CPU names like "ARM926" still retain all-caps.

1e48931c0c tests/vm: Allow to set qemu-img path
By default VM build test use qemu-img from system's PATH to
create the image disk. Due the lack of qemu-img on the system

possible by reading the path to qemu-img from QEMU_IMG if set,
otherwise it fallback to default behavior.

Similarly to features for struct types introduce the feature flags also

RCU_READ_LOCK_GUARD() takes the rcu_read_lock and then uses glib's
g_auto infrastructure (and thus whatever the compiler's hooks are) to
release it on all exits of the block.

WITH_RCU_READ_LOCK_GUARD() is similar but is used as a wrapper for the
lock, i.e.:

   WITH_RCU_READ_LOCK_GUARD() {
       stuff under lock

9d55380b5a qapi: Remove null from schema language
We represent the parse tree as OrderedDict. We fetch optional dict
members with .get(). So far, so good.

We represent null literals as None. .get() returns None both for
"absent" and for "present, value is the null literal". Uh-oh.

Test features-if-invalid exposes this bug: "'if': null" is
misinterpreted as absent "if".

We added null to the schema language to "allow [...] an explicit
default value" (commit e53188ada5 "qapi: Allow true, false and null in
schema json", v2.4.0). Hasn't happened; null is still unused except
as generic invalid value in tests/.

To fix, we'd have to replace .get() by something more careful, or
represent null differently. Feasible, but we got more and bigger fish
to fry right now. Remove the null literal from the schema language.
Replace null in tests by another invalid value.

Test features-if-invalid now behaves as it should.

b6c37ebaaf docs/devel/qapi-code-gen: Improve QAPI schema language doc
We document the language by giving patterns of valid JSON objects.
The patterns contain placeholders we don't define anywhere; their
names have to speak for themselves. I guess they do, but I'd prefer a
bit more rigor. Provide a grammar instead, and rework the text
accordingly.

Documentation for QAPI schema conditionals (commit 967c885108,
6cc32b0e14, 87adbbffd4..3e270dcacc) and feature flags (commit
6a8c0b5102) was bolted on. The sections documenting types, commands
and events don't mention them. Section "Features" and "Configuring
the schema" then provide additional syntax for types, commands and
events. I hate that. Fix the sections documenting types, commands
and events to provide accurate syntax, and point to "Features" and
"Configuring the schema" for details.

We talk about "(top-level) expressions other than include and pragma".
Adopt more convenient terminology: a (top-level) expression is either
a directive (include or pragma) or a definition (anything else).

Avoid the terms "dictionary" and "key". Stick to JSON terminology
"object" and "member name" instead.

While there, make spacing more consistent.

f5821f5262 docs/devel/qapi-code-gen: Reorder sections for readability
Section "QMP/Guest agent schema" starts with a brief introduction,
then subsection "Comments", then subsection "Schema overview" (more
elaborate introduction), and only then talks about schema entities
like types, commands, and so forth.

Subsection "Comments" is long and tiring: almost 500 words, mostly
about doc comments. Move the doc comment part to its own subsection
"Documentation comments" at the very end of "QMP/Guest agent schema".

Subsection "Schema overview" explains naming rules at considerable
length: 250 words. Move this part to its own subsection "Naming rules
and reserved names" right after the subsections on schema entities.

Subsection "Enumeration types" is wedged between "Struct types" and
"Union types". Move it before "Struct types".

e24fe238e2 docs/devel/qapi-code-gen: Minor specification fixes
The specification claims "Each expression that isn't an include
directive may be preceded by a documentation block", but the code also
rejects them for pragma directives. The code is correct. Fix the
specification.

The specification reserves member names starting with 'has_', but the
code also reserves name 'u'. Fix the specification.

The specification claims "The string 'max' is not allowed as an enum
value". Untrue. Fix the specification. While there, delete the
naming advice, because it's redundant with the naming rules in section
"Schema overview"

The specification claims "No branch of the union can be named 'max',
as this would collide with the implicit enum". Untrue. Fix the
specification.

The specification claims "It is not allowed to name an event 'MAX',
since the generator also produces a C enumeration of all event names
with a generated _MAX value at the end." Untrue. Fix the
specification.

The specification claims "All branches of the union must be complex
types", but the code permits only struct types. The code is correct.
Fix the specification.

The specification claims a command's return type "must be the string
name of a complex or built-in type, a one-element array containing the
name of a complex or built-in type" unless the command is in pragma
'returns-whitelist'. The code does not permit built-in types. Fix
the specification.

b22e86585b qapi: Drop support for boxed alternate arguments
Commands and events can define their argument type inline (default) or
by referring to another type ('boxed': true, since commit c818408e44
"qapi: Implement boxed types for commands/events", v2.7.0). The
unboxed inline definition is an (anonymous) struct type. The boxed
type may be a struct, union, or alternate type.

The latter is problematic: docs/interop/qemu-spec.txt requires the
value of the 'data' key to be a json-object, but any non-degenerate
alternate type has at least one branch that isn't.

Fortunately, we haven't made use of alternates in this context outside
tests/. Drop support for them.

QAPISchemaAlternateType.is_empty() is now unused. Drop it, too.

f1b3ccfaa6 monitor: Move {hmp, qmp}.c to monitor/{hmp, qmp}-cmds.c
Now that we have a monitor/ subdirectory, let's move hmp.c and qmp.c
from the root directory there. As they contain implementations of
monitor commands, rename them to {hmp,qmp}-cmds.c, so that {hmp, qmp}.c
are free for the HMP and QMP infrastructure.

2f2c4e4731 Convert "translator internals" docs to RST, move to devel manual
Our user-facing manual currently has a section "translator internals"
which has some high-level information about the design of the
TCG translator. This should really be in our new devel/ manual.
Convert it to RST format and move it there.

6a8c0b5102 qapi: Add feature flags to struct types
Sometimes, the behaviour of QEMU changes without a change in the QMP
syntax (usually by allowing values or operations that previously
resulted in an error). QMP clients may still need to know whether
they can rely on the changed behavior.

Let's add feature flags to the QAPI schema language, so that we can make
such changes visible with schema introspection.

An example for a schema definition using feature flags looks like this:

    { 'struct': 'TestType',
      'data': { 'number': 'int' },
      'features': [ 'allow-negative-numbers' ] }

Introspection information then looks like this:

    { "name": "TestType", "meta-type": "object",
      "members": [
          { "name": "number", "type": "int" } ],
      "features": [ "allow-negative-numbers" ] }

This patch implements feature flags only for struct types. We'll
implement them more widely as needed.

42a65f02f9 block: Remove bdrv_set_aio_context()
All callers of bdrv_set_aio_context() are eliminated now, they have
moved to bdrv_try_set_aio_context() and related safe functions. Remove
bdrv_set_aio_context().

With this, we can now know that the .set_aio_ctx callback must be
present in bdrv_set_aio_context_ignore() because
bdrv_can_set_aio_context() would have returned false previously, so
instead of checking the condition, we can assert it.

bb768f71eb Makefile: Fix inclusion of the config-devices.mak.d Kconfig dependencies
The Makefile tries to include device Kconfig dependencies via

 -include $(SUBDIR_DEVICES_MAK_DEP)

and thus expects files that match *-softmmu/config-devices.mak.d ...
however, the minikconf script currently generates files a la
"*-softmmu-config.devices.mak.d" instead, so the dependency files
simply got ignored so far. For example, after a "touch hw/arm/Kconfig",
the arm-softmmu/config-devices.mak file is currently not re-generated.
Fix it by putting the dependency files in the *-softmmu folders now.

e9d95d0163 docs: add Secure Coding Practices to developer docs
At KVM Forum 2018 I gave a presentation on security in QEMU:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAdRf_hwxU8 (video)
https://vmsplice.net/~stefan/stefanha-kvm-forum-2018.pdf (slides)

This patch adds a guide to secure coding practices. This document
covers things that developers should know about security in QEMU. It is
just a starting point that we can expand on later. I hope it will be
useful as a resource for new contributors and will save code reviewers
from explaining the same concepts many times.

b910545fbf tests/acceptance: look for target architecture in test tags first
A test can, optionally, be tagged for one or many architectures. If a
test has been tagged for a single architecture, there's a high chance
that the test won't run on other architectures. This changes the
default order of choosing a default target architecture to use based
on the 'arch' tag value first.

The precedence order is for choosing a QEMU binary to use for a test
is now:

 * qemu_bin parameter
 * arch parameter
 * arch tag value (for example, x86_64 if "🥑 tags=arch:x86_64
   is used)

This means that if one runs:

 $ avocado run -p qemu_bin=/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 test.py

No arch parameter or tag will influence the selection of the QEMU
target binary. If one runs:

 $ avocado run -p arch=ppc64 test.py

The target binary selection mechanism will attempt to find a binary
such as "ppc64-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc64". And finally, if one runs
a test that is tagged (in its docstring) with "arch:aarch64":

 $ avocado run aarch64.py

The target binary selection mechanism will attempt to find a binary
such as "aarch64-softmmu/qemu-system-aarch64".

At this time, no provision is made to cancel the execution of tests if
the arch parameter given (manually) does not match the test "arch"
tag, but it may be a useful default behavior to be added in the
future.

2c44d68f2b tests/acceptance: introduce arch parameter and attribute
It's useful to define the architecture that should be used in
situations such as:
 * the intended target of the QEMU binary to be used on tests
 * the architecture of code to be run within the QEMU binary, such
as a kernel image or a full blown guest OS image

This commit introduces both a test parameter and a test instance
attribute, that will contain such a value.

Now, when the "arch" test parameter is given, it will influence the
selection of the default QEMU binary, if one is not given explicitly
by means of the "qemu_img" parameter.
