Markus Armbruster 1677f4c66c monitor: Clean up around monitor_handle_fd_param()
monitor_handle_fd_param() is a wrapper around
monitor_handle_fd_param2() that feeds errors to qerror_report_err()
instead of returning them. qerror_report_err() is inappropriate in
many contexts. monitor_handle_fd_param() looks simpler than
monitor_handle_fd_param2(), which tempts use. Remove the temptation:
drop the wrapper and open-code the (trivial) error handling instead.

Replace the open-coded qerror_report_err() by error_report_err() in
places that already use error_report(). Turns out that's everywhere.

While there, rename monitor_handle_fd_param2() to monitor_fd_param().

Markus Armbruster a6c90cbccd qmp: Eliminate silly QERR_COMMAND_NOT_FOUND macro
The QERR_ macros are leftovers from the days of "rich" error objects.
They're used with error_set() and qerror_report(), and expand into the

Peter Maydell 24e60305c5 monitor.c: Use ld*_p() instead of ld*_raw()
The monitor code for doing a memory_dump() was using ld*_raw() to do
target-CPU accesses out of a local buf[] array. The correct functions
for this purpose are ld*_p(), which take a host pointer, rather than
ld*_raw(), which take an integer representing a guest address and
are somewhat meaningless in softmmu configurations. Nobody noticed
because for softmmu the _raw functions are the same as ldl_p but
with some extra casts thrown in. Switch to using the correct functions
instead.

Marcel Apfelbaum 4cae4d5aca hmp: fix regression of HMP device_del auto-completion
The commits:
 - 6a1fa9f5 (monitor: add del completion for peripheral device)
 - 66e56b13 (qdev: add qdev_build_hotpluggable_device_list helper)

cause a QEMU crash when trying to use HMP device_del auto-completion.
It can be easily reproduced by:
    <qemu-bin> -enable-kvm  ~/images/fedora.qcow2 -monitor stdio -device virtio-net-pci,id=vnet

    (qemu) device_del
    /home/mapfelba/git/upstream/qemu/hw/core/qdev.c:941:qdev_build_hotpluggable_device_list: Object 0x7f6ce04e4fe0 is not an instance of type device
    Aborted (core dumped)

The root cause is qdev_build_hotpluggable_device_list going recursively over
all peripherals and their children assuming all are devices. It doesn't work
since PCI devices have at least on child which is a memory region (bus master).

Solved by observing that all devices appear as direct children of
/machine/peripheral container. No need of going recursively
over all the children.

Markus Armbruster 7797a73947 hmp: Remove "info pcmcia"
This command lists PCMCIA sockets and cards. Only a few ARM boards
have sockets (akita, borzoi, connex, mainstone, spitz, terrier, tosa,
verdex, z2), the only card is the DSCM-1xxxx Hitachi Microdrive (qdev
"microdrive"), and it is only inserted during machine init, if ever.
So this command doesn't really tell anybody anything new so far.

Moreover, pcmcia_socket_unregister() has a use-after-free bug, flagged
by Coverity. Has never been used, because there has never been code
to eject a PCMCIA card.

Not worth fixing & converting to QMP. Remove it.

Stratos Psomadakis e5554e2015 monitor: Reset HMP mon->rs in CHR_EVENT_OPEN
Commit cdaa86a54 ("Add G_IO_HUP handler for socket chardev") exposed a bug in
the way the HMP monitor handles its command buffer. When a client closes the
connection to the monitor, tcp_chr_read() will detect the G_IO_HUP condition
and call tcp_chr_disconnect() to close the server-side connection too. Due to
the fact that monitor reads 1 byte at a time (for each tcp_chr_read()), the
monitor readline state / buffers might contain junk (i.e. a half-finished
command). Thus, without calling readline_restart() on mon->rs in
CHR_EVENT_OPEN, future HMP commands will fail.

Roger Pau Monne e02bc6de30 serial: poll the serial console with G_IO_HUP
On FreeBSD polling a master pty while the other end is not connected
with G_IO_OUT only results in an endless wait. This is different from
the Linux behaviour, that returns immediately. In order to demonstrate
this, I have the following example code:

http://xenbits.xen.org/people/royger/test_poll.c

When executed on Linux:

$ ./test_poll
In callback

On FreeBSD instead, the callback never gets called:

$ ./test_poll

So, in order to workaround this, poll the source with G_IO_HUP (which
makes the code behave the same way on both Linux and FreeBSD).

Wenchao Xia 43a14cfc0f monitor: add an implemention of qapi event emit method
The monitor is now hooked on the new event mechanism, so that later
patches can convert event callers one by one. Most code are copied from
old monitor_protocol_* functions with some modification.

Note that two build time warnings will be raised after this patch. One is
caused by no caller of monitor_qapi_event_throttle(), the other one is
caused by QAPI_EVENT_MAX = 0. They will be fixed automatically after
full event conversion later.

Tom Musta 1c38f84373 monitor: QEMU Monitor Instruction Disassembly Incorrect for PowerPC LE Mode
The monitor support for disassembling instructions does not honor the MSR[LE]
bit for PowerPC processors.

This change enhances the monitor_disas() routine by supporting a flag bit
for Little Endian mode. Bit 16 is used since that bit was used in the
analagous guest disassembly routine target_disas().

Also, to be consistent with target_disas(), the disassembler bfd_mach field
can be passed in the flags argument.
