Igor Mammedov 80e5db303d machine: Make possible_cpu_arch_ids() return const pointer
make sure that external callers won't try to modify

Marcelo Tosatti abc62c89f3 pc.h: move x-mach-use-reliable-get-clock compat entry to PC_COMPAT_2_8
As noticed by David Gilbert, commit 6053a86 'kvmclock: reduce kvmclock
differences on migration' added 'x-mach-use-reliable-get-clock' and a
compatibility entry that turns it off; however it got merged after 2.8.0
was released but the entry has gone into PC_COMPAT_2_7 where it should
have gone into PC_COMPAT_2_8.

Fix it by moving the entry to PC_COMPAT_2_8.

Marcelo Tosatti 6053a86fe7 kvmclock: reduce kvmclock difference on migration
Check for KVM_CAP_ADJUST_CLOCK capability KVM_CLOCK_TSC_STABLE, which
indicates that KVM_GET_CLOCK returns a value as seen by the guest at
that moment.

For new machine types, use this value rather than reading
from guest memory.

This reduces kvmclock difference on migration from 5s to 0.1s
(when max_downtime == 5s).

Legacy FW_CFG_NB_CPUS will be reused instead of 'etc/boot-cpus'

Wei Liu 021746c131 PCMachineState: introduce acpi_build_enabled field
Introduce this field to control whether ACPI build is enabled by a
particular machine or accelerator.

It defaults to true if the machine itself supports ACPI build. Xen
accelerator will disable it because Xen is in charge of building ACPI
tables for the guest.

Igor Mammedov 080ac219cc pc: Add 'etc/boot-cpus' fw_cfg file for machine with more than 255 CPUs
Currently firmware uses 1 byte at 0x5F offset in RTC CMOS
to get number of CPUs present at boot. However 1 byte is
not enough to handle more than 255 CPUs.  So add a new
fw_cfg file that would allow QEMU to tell it.
For compat reasons add file only for machine types that
support more than 255 CPUs.

Evgeny Yakovlev 339892d758 target-i386: Correct family/model/stepping for Opteron_G3
Current CPU definition for AMD Opteron third generation includes
features like SSE4a and LAHF_LM support in emulated CPUID. These
features are present in K8 rev.E or K10 CPUs and later. However,
current G3 family and model describe 2nd generation K8 cores instead.

This is incorrect but was considered harmless until our tests found a
problem with linux kernels >= 3.10 (and maybe earlier) which specifically
check for Opteron K8 model when parsing CPUID leaf 0x80000001:

This code will disable LAHF_LM feature in /proc/cpuinfo if model number
is inconsistent.

This change sets Opteron_G3 family/model/stepping to 16/2/3 which is
a proper Opteron 3rd generation 2350 CPU.

Eduardo Habkost c39c0edf9b target-i386: Automatically set level/xlevel/xlevel2 when needed
Instead of requiring users and management software to be aware of
required CPUID level/xlevel/xlevel2 values for each feature,
automatically increase those values when features need them.

This was already done for CPUID[7].EBX, and is now made generic
for all CPUID feature flags. Unit test included, to make sure we
don't break ABI on older machine-types and don't mess with the
CPUID level values if they are explicitly set by the user.

Igor Mammedov 152fcbecad target-i386: turn off CPU.l3-cache only for 2.7 and older machine types
commit (14c985cff target-i386: present virtual L3 cache info for vcpus)
misplaced compat property putting it in new 2.8 machine type
which would effectively to disable feature until 2.9 is released.
Intent of commit probably should be to disable feature for 2.7
and older while allowing not yet released 2.8 to have feature
enabled by default.

Longpeng(Mike) 14c985cffa target-i386: present virtual L3 cache info for vcpus
Some software algorithms are based on the hardware's cache info, for example,
for x86 linux kernel, when cpu1 want to wakeup a task on cpu2, cpu1 will trigger
a resched IPI and told cpu2 to do the wakeup if they don't share low level
cache. Oppositely, cpu1 will access cpu2's runqueue directly if they share llc.
The relevant linux-kernel code as bellow:

In real hardware, the cpus on the same socket share L3 cache, so one won't
trigger a resched IPIs when wakeup a task on others. But QEMU doesn't present a
virtual L3 cache info for VM, then the linux guest will trigger lots of RES IPIs
under some workloads even if the virtual cpus belongs to the same virtual socket.

For KVM, there will be lots of vmexit due to guest send IPIs.
The workload is a SAP HANA's testsuite, we run it one round(about 40 minuates)
and observe the (Suse11sp3)Guest's amounts of RES IPIs which triggering during
the period:

The VM's topology is "1*socket 8*cores 2*threads".
After present virtual L3 cache info for VM, the amounts of RES IPIs in guest
reduce 85%.

For KVM, vcpus send IPIs will cause vmexit which is expensive, so it can cause
severe performance degradation. We had tested the overall system performance if
vcpus actually run on sparate physical socket. With L3 cache, the performance
improves 7.2%~33.1%(avg:15.7%).

Marc-André Lureau 8ea753718b machine: use class base init generated name
machine_class_base_init() member name is allocated by
machine_class_base_init(), but not freed by
machine_class_finalize().  Simply freeing there doesn't work,
because DEFINE_PC_MACHINE() overwrites it with a literal string.

Fix DEFINE_PC_MACHINE() not to overwrite it, and add the missing
free to machine_class_finalize().

Igor Mammedov 7298d4fd51 apic: fix broken migration for kvm-apic
commit f6e98444 (apic: Use apic_id as apic's migration instance_id)
breaks migration when in kernel irqchip is used for 2.6 and older
machine types.

It applies compat property only for userspace 'apic' type
instead of applying it to all apic types inherited from
'apic-common' type as it was supposed to do.

Fix it by setting compat property 'legacy-instance-id' for
'apic-common' type which affects inherited types (i.e. not
only 'apic' but also 'kvm-apic' types)

Peter Xu cb135f59b8 q35: ioapic: add support for emulated IOAPIC IR
This patch translates all IOAPIC interrupts into MSI ones. One pseudo
ioapic address space is added to transfer the MSI message. By default,
it will be system memory address space. When IR is enabled, it will be
IOMMU address space.

Currently, only emulated IOAPIC is supported.

Igor Mammedov f6e984443f apic: Use apic_id as apic's migration instance_id
instance_id is generated by last_used_id + 1 for a given device type
so for QEMU with 3 CPUs instance_id for APICs is a seti of [0, 1, 2]
When CPU in the middle is hot-removed and migration started
APICs with instance_ids 0 and 2 are transferred in migration stream.
However target starts with 2 CPUs and APICs' instance_ids are
generated from scratch [0, 1] hence migration fails with error
  Unknown savevm section or instance 'apic' 2

Fix issue by manually registering APIC's vmsd with apic_id as
instance_id, in this case instance_id on target will always
match instance_id on source as apic_id is the same for a given
cpu instance.

Fill the bits between 51..number-of-physical-address-bits in the
MTRR_PHYSMASKn variable range mtrr masks so that they're consistent
in the migration stream irrespective of the physical address space

Markus Armbruster 01c9742d9d pc: Eliminate PcPciInfo
PcPciInfo has two (ill-named) members: Range w32 is the PCI hole, and
w64 is the PCI64 hole.

Three users:

* I440FXState and MCHPCIState have a member PcPciInfo pci_info, but
  only pci_info.w32 is actually used.  This is confusing.  Replace by
  Range pci_hole.

* acpi_build() uses auto PcPciInfo pci_info to forward both PCI holes
  from acpi_get_pci_info() to build_dsdt().  Replace by two variables
  Range pci_hole, pci_hole64.  Rename acpi_get_pci_info() to
  acpi_get_pci_holes().

PcPciInfo is now unused; drop it.

Igor Mammedov 1f3aba377d pc: acpi: drop intermediate PCMachineState.node_cpu
PCMachineState.node_cpu was used for mapping APIC ID
to numa node id as CPU entries in SRAT used to be
built on sparse APIC ID bitmap (up to apic_id_limit).
However since commit
  5803fce pc: acpi: SRAT: create only valid processor lapic entries
CPU entries in SRAT aren't build using apic bitmap
but using 0..maxcpus index instead which is also used
for creating numa_info[x].node_cpu map.
So instead of doing useless intermediate conversion from
  1. node by cpu index -> node by apic id
       i.e. numa_info[x].node_cpu -> PCMachineState.node_cpu
  2. apic id -> srat entry PMX
       PCMachineState.node_cpu[apic id] -> PMX value
use numa_info[x].node_cpu map directly like ARM does and do
  1. numa_info[x].node_cpu -> PMX value using index
     in range 0..maxcpus
and drop not necessary PCMachineState.node_cpu and related
code.

That also removes the last (not counting legacy hotplug)
dependency of ACPI code on apic_id_limit and need to allocate
huge sparse PCMachineState.node_cpu array in case of 32-bit
APIC IDs.

Igor Mammedov 679dd1a957 pc: use new CPU hotplug interface since 2.7 machine type
For compatibility reasons PC/Q35 will start with legacy
CPU hotplug interface by default but with new CPU hotplug
AML code since 2.7 machine type. That way legacy firmware
that doesn't use QEMU generated ACPI tables will be
able to continue using legacy CPU hotplug interface.

While new machine type, with firmware supporting QEMU
provided ACPI tables, will generate new CPU hotplug AML,
which will switch to new CPU hotplug interface when
guest OS executes its _INI method on ACPI tables
loading.

Radim Krčmář 5232d00a04 target-i386: Implement CPUID[0xB] (Extended Topology Enumeration)
I looked at a dozen Intel CPU that have this CPUID and all of them
always had Core offset as 1 (a wasted bit when hyperthreading is
disabled) and Package offset at least 4 (wasted bits at <= 4 cores).

QEMU uses more compact IDs and it doesn't make much sense to change it
now.  I keep the SMT and Core sub-leaves even if there is just one
thread/core;  it makes the code simpler and there should be no harm.

Igor Mammedov bacc344c54 machine: add properties to compat_props incrementaly
Switch to adding compat properties incrementaly instead of
completly overwriting compat_props per machine type.
That removes data duplication which we have due to nested
[PC|SPAPR]_COMPAT_* macros.

It also allows to set default device properties from
default foo_machine_options() hook, which will be used
in following patch for putting VMGENID device as
a function if ISA bridge on pc/q35 machines.

Igor Mammedov 3811ef14f5 machine: introduce MachineClass.possible_cpu_arch_ids() hook
on x86 currently range 0..max_cpus is used to generate
architecture-dependent CPU ID (APIC Id) for each present
and possible CPUs. However architecture-dependent CPU IDs
list could be sparse and code that needs to enumerate
all IDs (ACPI) ended up doing guess work enumerating all
possible and impossible IDs up to
  apic_id_limit = x86_cpu_apic_id_from_index(max_cpus).

That leads to creation of MADT entries and Processor
objects in ACPI tables for not possible CPUs.
Fix it by allowing board specify a concrete list of
CPU IDs accourding its own rules (which for x86 depends
on topology). So that code that needs this list could
request it from board instead of trying to guess
what IDs are correct on its own.

This interface will also allow to help making AML
part of CPU hotplug target independent so it could
be reused for ARM target.

This change was made with

find include hw fpu target-* -name '*.[ch]' | xargs sed -i -e 's/\buint32\b/uint32_t/g'

together with manual removal of the typedef definition,
manual undoing of various mis-hits, and another couple of
fixes found via test compilation.

All the uses in hw/ were using the wrong type by mistake.

This patch enables migrating vcpu's TSC rate. If KVM on the
destination machine supports TSC scaling, guest programs will
observe a consistent TSC rate across the migration.

If TSC scaling is not supported on the destination machine, the
migration will not be aborted and QEMU on the destination will
not set vcpu's TSC rate to the migrated value.

If vcpu's TSC rate specified by CPU option 'tsc-freq' on the
destination machine is inconsistent with the migrated TSC rate,
the migration will be aborted.

For backwards compatibility, the migration of vcpu's TSC rate is
disabled on pc-*-2.5 and older machine types.

David Gibson 877f8931b9 Move SET_MACHINE_COMPAT macro to boards.h
pc.h defines a SET_MACHINE_COMPAT macro to make setting up compat_props
for the various PC machine versions less verbose.  There's nothing
inherently PC specific about it, though, so move it to boards.h where other
versioned machine types (like pseries-*) can use it.

While we're doing that, change it's indentation to be a bit more regular.

Xiao Guangrong 87252e1b61 nvdimm acpi: build ACPI NFIT table
NFIT is defined in ACPI 6.0: 5.2.25 NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT)

Currently, we only support PMEM mode. Each device has 3 structures:
- SPA structure, defines the PMEM region info

- MEM DEV structure, it has the @handle which is used to associate specified
  ACPI NVDIMM  device we will introduce in later patch.
  Also we can happily ignored the memory device's interleave, the real
  nvdimm hardware access is hidden behind host

- DCR structure, it defines vendor ID used to associate specified vendor
  nvdimm driver. Since we only implement PMEM mode this time, Command
  window and Data window are not needed

The NVDIMM functionality is controlled by the parameter, 'nvdimm', which
is introduced for the machine, there is a example to enable it:
-machine pc,nvdimm -m 8G,maxmem=100G,slots=100  -object \
memory-backend-file,id=mem1,share,mem-path=/tmp/nvdimm1,size=10G -device \
nvdimm,memdev=mem1,id=nv1

It is disabled on default

Paolo Bonzini 15eafc2e60 kvm: x86: add support for KVM_CAP_SPLIT_IRQCHIP
This patch adds support for split IRQ chip mode. When
KVM_CAP_SPLIT_IRQCHIP is enabled:

    1.) The PIC, PIT, and IOAPIC are implemented in userspace while
    the LAPIC is implemented by KVM.

    2.) The software IOAPIC delivers interrupts to the KVM LAPIC via
    kvm_set_irq. Interrupt delivery is configured via the MSI routing
    table, for which routes are reserved in target-i386/kvm.c then
    configured in hw/intc/ioapic.c

    3.) KVM delivers IOAPIC EOIs via a new exit KVM_EXIT_IOAPIC_EOI,
    which is handled in target-i386/kvm.c and relayed to the software
    IOAPIC via ioapic_eoi_broadcast.

KVM can't virtualize rdtscp on AMD CPUs yet, so there's no point
in enabling it by default on AMD CPU models, as all we are
getting are confused users because of the "host doesn't support
requested feature" warnings.

Disable rdtscp on Opteron_G* models, but keep compatibility on
pc-*-2.4 and older (just in case there are people are doing funny
stuff using AMD CPU models on Intel hosts).

Eduardo Habkost 3e68482224 target-i386: Set "check=off" by default on pc-*-2.4 and older
The default CPU model (qemu64) have some issues today: it enables some
features (ABM and SSE4a) that are not present in many host CPUs. That
means many hosts (but not all of them) had those features silently
disabled in the default configuration in QEMU 2.4 and older.

With the new "check=on" default, this causes warnings to be printed in
the default configuration, because of the lack of SSE4A on all Intel
hosts, and the lack of ABM on Sandy Bridge and older hosts:

  $ qemu-system-x86_64 -machine pc,accel=kvm
  warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.80000001H:ECX.abm [bit 5]
  warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.80000001H:ECX.sse4a [bit 6]

Those issues will be fixed in pc-*-2.5 and newer. But as we can't change
the guest ABI in pc-*-2.4, disable "check" mode by default in pc-*-2.4
and older so we don't print spurious warnings.

Paolo Bonzini becb66673e target-i386: add ABM to Haswell* and Broadwell* CPU models
ABM is only implemented as a single instruction set by AMD; all AMD
processors support both instructions or neither. Intel considers POPCNT
as part of SSE4.2, and LZCNT as part of BMI1, but Intel also uses AMD's
ABM flag to indicate support for both POPCNT and LZCNT.  It has to be
added to Haswell and Broadwell because Haswell, by adding LZCNT, has
completed the ABM.

Tested with "qemu-kvm -cpu Haswell-noTSX,enforce" (and also with older
machine types) on an Haswell-EP machine.

Tiejun Chen bd8107d730 igd gfx passthrough: create a isa bridge
Currently IGD drivers always need to access PCH by 1f.0. But we
don't want to poke that directly to get ID, and although in real
world different GPU should have different PCH. But actually the
different PCH DIDs likely map to different PCH SKUs. We do the
same thing for the GPU. For PCH, the different SKUs are going to
be all the same silicon design and implementation, just different
features turn on and off with fuses. The SW interfaces should be
consistent across all SKUs in a given family (eg LPT). But just
same features may not be supported.

Most of these different PCH features probably don't matter to the
Gfx driver, but obviously any difference in display port connections
will so it should be fine with any PCH in case of passthrough.

So currently use one PCH version, 0x8c4e, to cover all HSW(Haswell)
scenarios, 0x9cc3 for BDW(Broadwell).

Radim Krčmář 3046bb5deb target-i386: emulate CPUID level of real hardware
W10 insider has a bug where it ignores CPUID level and interprets
CPUID.(EAX=07H, ECX=0H) incorrectly, because CPUID in fact returned
CPUID.(EAX=04H, ECX=0H);  this resulted in execution of unsupported
instructions.

While it's a Windows bug, there is no reason to emulate incorrect level.

I used http://instlatx64.atw.hu/ as a source of CPUID and checked that
it matches Penryn Xeon X5472, Westmere Xeon W3520, SandyBridge i5-2540M,
and Haswell i5-4670T.

kvm64 and qemu64 were bumped to 0xD to allow all available features for
them (and to avoid the same Windows bug).

ARAT signals that the APIC timer does not stop in power saving states.
As our APICs are emulated, it's fine to expose this feature to guests,
at least when asking for KVM host features or with CPU types that
include the flag. The exact model number that introduced the feature is
not known, but reports can be found that it's at least available since
Sandy Bridge.

Paulo Alcantara 920557971b ich9: add TCO interface emulation
This interface provides some registers within a 32-byte range and can be
acessed through PCI-to-LPC bridge interface (PMBASE + 0x60).

It's commonly used as a watchdog timer to detect system lockups through
SMIs that are generated -- if TCO_EN bit is set -- on every timeout. If
NO_REBOOT bit is not set in GCS (General Control and Status register),
the system will be resetted upon second timeout if TCO_RLD register
wasn't previously written to prevent timeout.

This patch adds support to TCO watchdog logic and few other features
like mapping NMIs to SMIs (NMI2SMI_EN bit), system intruder detection,
etc. are not implemented yet.

Paolo Bonzini f809c60512 target-i386: use memory API to implement SMRAM
Remove cpu_smm_register and cpu_smm_update.  Instead, each CPU
address space gets an extra region which is an alias of
/machine/smram.  This extra region is enabled or disabled
as the CPU enters/exits SMM.

Laszlo Ersek 6e7d82497d hw/acpi: piix4_pm_init(): take fw_cfg object no more
This PIIX4 init function has no more reason to receive a pointer to the
FwCfg object. Remove the parameter from the prototype, and update callers.

As a result, the pc_init1() function no longer needs to save the return
value of pc_memory_init() and xen_load_linux(), which makes it more
similar to pc_q35_init().

The return type & value of pc_memory_init() and xen_load_linux() are not
changed themselves; maybe we'll need their return values sometime later.

Laszlo Ersek fd53c87cf6 i386/pc: pc_basic_device_init(): delegate FDC creation request
This patch introduces no observable change, but it allows the callers of
pc_basic_device_init(), ie. pc_init1() and pc_q35_init(), to request (or
not request) the creation of the FDC explicitly.

At the moment both callers pass constant create_fdctrl=true (hence no
observable change).

Assuming a board passes create_fdctrl=false, "floppy" will be NULL on
output, and (beyond the FDC not being created) that NULL will be passed on
to pc_cmos_init(). Luckily, pc_cmos_init() already handles that case.

Igor Mammedov 91aa70ab2a pc: align DIMM's address/size by backend's alignment value
Performance wise it's better to align GVA by the backend's
page size.

Also do not allow to create DIMM device with suboptimal
size (i.e. not aligned to backends page size) to aviod
memory loss.

Do above only for 2.2 and newer machine types to avoid
breaking working configs with 2.1 machine type.

migration for the case when guests use the device before setting DRIVER_OK.

Rip out this code, and replace it:
-   Modern QEMU doesn't need VIRTIO_PCI_FLAG_BUS_MASTER_BUG
    so just drop it for latest machine type.
-   For compat machine types, set PCI_COMMAND if DRIVER_OK
    is set.

As this is needed for 2.1 for both pc and ppc, move PC_COMPAT macros from pc.h
to a new common header.

Add a qemu extented register range to the standard vga mmio bar.
Right nowe there are two registers:  One readonly register returning the
size of the region (so we can easily add more registers there if needed)
and one endian control register, so guests (especially ppc) can flip
the framebuffer endianness as they need it.

Add back the PCIe config capabilities on XHCI cards in non-PCIe slots,
but only for machine types before 2.1.

This fixes a migration incompatibility in the XHCI PCI devices
caused by:
   058fdcf52c - xhci: add endpoint cap on express bus only

Note that in fixing it for compatibility with older QEMUs, it breaks
compatibility with existing QEMU 2.1's on older machine types.

The status before this patch was (if it used an XHCI adapter):
   machine type | source qemu
     any           pre-2.1     - FAIL
     any           2.1...      - PASS

With this patch:
   machine type | source qemu
     any           pre-2.1    - PASS
     pre-2.1       2.1...     - FAIL
     2.1           2.1...     - PASS

A test to trigger it is to add '-device nec-usb-xhci,id=xhci,addr=0x12'
to the command line.

Michael S. Tsirkin 927766c7d3 pc: reserve more memory for ACPI for new machine types
commit 868270f23d
    acpi-build: tweak acpi migration limits
broke kernel loading with -kernel/-initrd: it doubled
the size of ACPI tables but did not reserve
enough memory.

As a result, issues on boot and halt are observed.

Fix this up by doubling reserved memory for new machine types.

Markus Armbruster 260cb1c409 pc: Get rid of pci-info leftovers
pc_fw_cfg_guest_info() never does anything, because has_pci_info is
always false.

Introduced in commit f8c457b "pc: pass PCI hole ranges to Guests",
disabled in commit 9604f70 "pc: disable pci-info for 1.6", and hasn't
been enabled since.  Obviously a dead end.  Get of it.

Jan Kiszka d209c7440a hw/audio/intel-hda: Fix MSI capability address
According to ICH9 spec, the MSI capability is located at 0x60. This is
important for guest drivers that do not parse the capability chain and
use absolute addresses instead.
