Currently ptimer users are used to store copy of the limit value, because
ptimer doesn't provide facility to retrieve the limit. Let's provide it.

Delta value must be updated on period/freq change, otherwise running timer
would be restarted (counter reloaded with old delta). Only m68k/mcf520x
and arm/arm_timer devices are currently doing freq change correctly, i.e.
stopping the timer. Perform delta update to fix affected devices and
eliminate potential further mistakes.

ptimer_get_count() might be called while QEMU timer already been expired.
In that case ptimer would return counter = 0, which might be undesirable
in case of polled timer. Do counter wrap around for periodic timer to keep
it distributed. In order to achieve more accurate emulation behaviour of
certain hardware, don't perform wrap around when in icount mode and return
counter = 0 in that case (that doesn't affect polled counter distribution).

Multiple issues here related to the timer with a adjusted .limit value:
1) ptimer_get_count() returns incorrect counter value for the disabled
timer after loading the counter with a small value, because adjusted limit
value is used instead of the original.
For instance:
1) ptimer_stop(t)
2) ptimer_set_period(t, 1)
3) ptimer_set_limit(t, 0, 1)
4) ptimer_get_count(t) <-- would return 10000 instead of 0
2) ptimer_get_count() might return incorrect value for the timer running
with a adjusted limit value.
For instance:
1) ptimer_stop(t)
2) ptimer_set_period(t, 1)
3) ptimer_set_limit(t, 10, 1)
4) ptimer_run(t)
5) ptimer_get_count(t) <-- might return value > 10
3) Neither ptimer_set_period() nor ptimer_set_freq() are adjusting the
limit value, so it is still possible to make timer timeout value
arbitrary small.

2) ptimer_set_limit(t, 1, 0)
3) ptimer_set_period(t, 1) <-- bypass limit correction
Fix all of the above issues by adjusting timer period instead of the limit.
Perform the adjustment for periodic timer only. Use the delta value instead
of the limit to make decision whether adjustment is required, as limit could
be altered while timer is running, resulting in incorrect value returned by
ptimer_get_count.

Switch to adding compat properties incrementaly instead of
completly overwriting compat_props per machine type.
That removes data duplication which we have due to nested
[PC|SPAPR]_COMPAT_* macros.
It also allows to set default device properties from
default foo_machine_options() hook, which will be used
in following patch for putting VMGENID device as
a function if ISA bridge on pc/q35 machines.

All DisplayType values are just UI options that don't affect any
hardware emulation code, except for DT_NOGRAPHIC. Replace
DT_NOGRAPHIC with DT_NONE plus a new "-machine graphics=on|off"
option, so hardware emulation code don't need to use the
display_type variable.

pio_addr_t is almost unused, because these days I/O ports are simply
accessed through the address space. cpu_{in,out}[bwl] themselves are
almost unused; monitor.c and xen-hvm.c could use address_space_read/write
directly, since they have an integer size at hand. This leaves qtest as
the only user of those functions.
On the other hand even portio_* functions use this type; the only
interesting use of pio_addr_t thus is include/hw/sysbus.h. I guess I
could move it there, but I don't see much benefit in that either. Using
uint32_t is enough and avoids the need to include ioport.h everywhere.

Entries are inserted in filename order instead of being
appended to the end in case sorting is enabled.
This will avoid any future issues of moving the file creation
around, it doesn't matter what order they are created now,
the will always be in filename order.

Added machine type handling for compatibility. This was
a fairly complex change, this will preserve the order of fw_cfg
for older versions no matter what order the firmware files
actually come in. A list is kept of the correct legacy order
and the entries will be inserted based upon their order in
the list. Except that some entries are ordered (in a specific
area of the list) based upon what order they appear on the
command line. Special handling is added for those entries.

qemu-common.h should only be included by .c files. Its file comment
explains why: "No header file should depend on qemu-common.h, as this
would easily lead to circular header dependencies."
hw/pci/pci.h includes qemu-common.h, but its users only need pcibus_t
and PCIHostDeviceAddress from it. Move them to hw/pci/pci.h and drop
the ill-advised include. Include hw/pci/pci.h where the moved stuff
is now missing. Except we can't in target-i386/kvm_i386.h, because
that would break the i386-linux-user compile. Add
PCIHostDeviceAddress to qemu/typedefs.h instead.

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

Some CPUs are of an opposite data-endianness to other components in the
system. Sometimes elfs have the data sections layed out with this CPU
data-endianness accounting for when loaded via the CPU, so byte swaps
(relative to other system components) will occur.
The leading example, is ARM's BE32 mode, which is is basically LE with
address manipulation on half-word and byte accesses to access the
hw/byte reversed address. This means that word data is invariant
across LE and BE32. This also means that instructions are still LE.
The expectation is that the elf will be loaded via the CPU in this
endianness scheme, which means the data in the elf is reversed at
compile time.
As QEMU loads via the system memory directly, rather than the CPU, we
need a mechanism to reverse elf data endianness to implement this
possibility.

buffer with the header contents, as well as a boolean for whether the
elf is 64b or not. Both arguments are optional.

Add a new function load_image_mr(), which behaves like
load_image_targphys() except that it loads the ROM image to
a specified MemoryRegion rather than to a specified physical
address. This is useful when a ROM blob needs to be loaded
to a particular flash or ROM device but the address of that
device in the machine's address space is not known. (For
instance, ROMs in devices, or ROMs which might exist in
a different address space to the system address space.)

Migration of pseries-2.3 doesn't have configuration section. Unfortunately,
QEMU 2.4/2.4.1/2.5 are buggy and always stream and expect the configuration
section, and break migration both ways.
This patch introduces a property which allows to enforce a configuration
section for machines who don't have one.
It can be set at startup:
-machine enforce-config-section=on
or later from the QEMU monitor:
qom-set /machine enforce-config-section on
It is up to the tooling to set or unset this property according to the
version of the QEMU at the other end of the pipe.

visit_start_struct() and visit_type_enum() had a 'kind' argument
that was usually set to either the stringized version of the
corresponding qapi type name, or to NULL (although some clients
didn't even get that right). But nothing ever used the argument.
It's even hard to argue that it would be useful in a debugger,
as a stack backtrace also tells which type is being visited.
Therefore, drop the 'kind' argument as dead.

Similar to the previous patch, it's nice to have all functions
in the tree that involve a visitor and a name for conversion to
or from QAPI to consistently stick the 'name' parameter next
to the Visitor parameter.
Done by manually changing include/qom/object.h and qom/object.c,
then running this Coccinelle script and touching up the fallout
(Coccinelle insisted on adding some trailing whitespace).

JSON uses "name":value, but many of our visitor interfaces were
called with visit_type_FOO(v, &value, name, errp). This can be
a bit confusing to have to mentally swap the parameter order to
match JSON order. It's particularly bad for visit_start_struct(),
where the 'name' parameter is smack in the middle of the
otherwise-related group of 'obj, kind, size' parameters! It's
time to do a global swap of the parameter ordering, so that the
'name' parameter is always immediately after the Visitor argument.
Additional reason in favor of the swap: the existing include/qjson.h
prefers listing 'name' first in json_prop_*(), and I have plans to
unify that file with the qapi visitors; listing 'name' first in
qapi will minimize churn to the (admittedly few) qjson.h clients.
Later patches will then fix docs, object.h, visitor-impl.h, and
those clients to match.
Done by first patching scripts/qapi*.py by hand to make generated
files do what I want, then by running the following Coccinelle
script to affect the rest of the code base:

I then had to apply some touchups (Coccinelle insisted on TAB
indentation in visitor.h, and botched the signature of
visit_type_enum() by rewriting 'const char *const strings[]' to

if any callers were missed.

Currently, QEMU chooses a drive type automatically based on the inserted
media. If there is no disk inserted, it chooses a 1.44MB drive type.
Change this behavior to be configurable, but leave it defaulted to 1.44.
This is not earnestly intended to be used by a user or a management
library, but rather exists so that pre-2.6 board types can configure it
to be a legacy value.

qbus_realize() adds busses as a QOM child of the device in addition to
adding it to the qdev bus list. Change get_child_bus() to use the QOM
child if it is available. This takes priority over the bus-list, but
the child object is checked for type correctness.
This prepares support for aliasing of buses. The use case is SoCs,
where a SoC container needs to present buses to the board level, but
the buses are implemented by controller IP we already model as self
contained qbus-containing devices.

Otherwise there is a race where the DEVICE_DELETED event has been sent but
attempts to reuse the ID will fail.
Note that similar races exist for other QemuOpts, which this patch
does not attempt to fix.
For example, if the device is a block device, then unplugging it also
deletes its backend. However, this backend's get deleted in
drive_info_del(), which is only called when properties are
destroyed. Just like device_finalize(), drive_info_del() is called
some time after DEVICE_DELETED is sent. A separate patch series has
been sent to plug this other bug. Character devices also have yet to
be fixed.

message without enclosing it in parenthesis or quotes, like we do

platform_bus_map_irq() and platform_bus_map_mmio() use hw_error() to
fail. They run in machine_init_done_notifiers, via
platform_bus_init_notify() and link_sysbus_device(). Printing CPU
registers is not helpful there.
Replace hw_error() by error_report(); exit(1). If these are
programming errors, it should be replaced by an assertion instead.
While there, observe that both functions always return 0, and
link_sysbus_device() ignores the return value. Change them to void.

This patch adds the initial plumbing for split IRQ chip mode via
KVM_CAP_SPLIT_IRQCHIP. In addition to option processing, a number of
kvm_*_in_kernel macros are defined to help clarify which component is
where.

For TYPE_DEVICE, the dc->reset() function is not called on system resets
yet. Until that is changed, we have to manually register a reset handler.
Let's provide qdev_reset_all_fn(), that can directly be used - just like
the reset handler that is already available for qbus.

This patch adds deterministic replay for hardware periodic countdown timers.
ptimer uses bottom halves layer to execute such an asynchronous callback.
We put this callback into the replay queue instead of bottom halves one.
When checkpoint is met by main loop thread, the replay queue is processed
and callback is executed. Binding callback moment to one of the checkpoints
makes it deterministic.

Now all TYPE_MACHINE subclasses use MACHINE_TYPE_NAME to generate the
class name. So instead of requiring each subclass to set
MachineClass::name manually, we can now set it automatically at the
TYPE_MACHINE class_base_init() function.

Expansion of [*] suffix is very slow because index expansion is done using
trial and error strategy, starting every time from zero and retrying with
the next index until insertion succeeds. With large number of already added
properties this process takes huge amount of time (O(n^2) complexity).
Some architectures (like ARM) use very large amount of IRQ pins in interrupt
controller models. This flaw makes machine startup extremely slow
(~20 seconds for ARM64 with 32 CPUs). This patch decreases this time down to
~10 seconds.
Also in qdev_init_gpio_out_named() memset() is now called only once for the
whole array instead of per-cell cleaning

Commit ef701d7 screwed up handling of out-of-memory conditions.
Before the commit, we report the error and exit(1), in one place. The
commit lifts the error handling up the call chain some, to three
places. Fine. Except it uses &error_abort in these places, changing
the behavior from exit(1) to abort(), and thus undoing the work of
commit 3922825 "exec: Don't abort when we can't allocate guest
memory".
The previous commit fixed up uses of memory_region_init_ram(). One of
them was replaced by memory_region_init_resizeable_ram() [sic!] in
commit a166614, so Coccinelle missed it. Fix it up.

The free() and g_free() functions both happily accept
NULL on any platform QEMU builds on. As such putting a
conditional 'if (foo)' check before calls to 'free(foo)'
merely serves to bloat the lines of code.
