This patches allows QMP monitors to be suspended/resumed.
One thing to mention is that for QMPs that are using IOThreads, we need
an explicit kick for the IOThread in case it is sleeping.
Meanwhile, we need to take special care on non-interactive HMPs.
Currently only gdbserver is using that. For these monitors, we still
don't allow suspend/resume operations.
Since at it, add traces for the operations.

There were no QMP capabilities defined. Define the first capability,
"oob", to allow out-of-band messages.
After this patch, we will allow QMP clients to enable QMP capabilities
when sending the first "qmp_capabilities" command. Originally we are
starting QMP session with no arguments like:
{ "execute": "qmp_capabilities" }
Now we can enable some QMP capabilities using (take OOB as example,
which is the only capability that we support):
{ "execute": "qmp_capabilities",
"arguments": { "enable": [ "oob" ] } }
When the "arguments" key is not provided, no capability is enabled.
For capability "oob", the monitor needs to be run on a dedicated IO
thread, otherwise the command will fail. For example, trying to enable
OOB on a MUXed typed QMP monitor will fail.
One thing to mention is that QMP capabilities are per-monitor, and also
when the connection is closed due to some reason, the capabilities will
be reset.
Also, touch up qmp-test.c to test the new bits.

For each Monitor, add one field "use_io_thr" to show whether it will be
using the dedicated monitor IO thread to handle input/output. When set,
monitor IO parsing work will be offloaded to the dedicated monitor IO
thread, rather than the original main loop thread.
This only works for QMP. HMP will always be run on the main loop
thread.
Currently we're still keeping use_io_thr off always. Will turn it on
later at some point.
One thing to mention is that we cannot set use_io_thr for every QMP
monitor. The problem is that MUXed typed chardevs may not work well
with it now. When MUX is used, frontend of chardev can be the monitor
plus something else. The only thing we know would be safe to be run
outside main thread so far is the monitor frontend. All the rest of the
frontends should still be run in main thread only.

There are many places where the monitor initializes its globals:
- monitor_init_qmp_commands() at the very beginning
- single function to init monitor_lock
- in the first entry of monitor_init() using "is_first_init"
Unify them a bit.
monitor_lock is not used before monitor_init() (as confirmed by code
analysis and gdb watchpoints); so we are safe delaying what was a
constructor-time initialization of the mutex into the later first call
to monitor_init().

In monitor_qmp_read(), we have the hack to temporarily replace the
cur_mon pointer. Now we move this hack deeper inside the QMP dispatcher
routine since the Monitor pointer can be actually obtained using
container_of() upon the parser object, just like most of the other JSON
parser users do.
This does not make much sense as a single patch. However, this will be
a big step for the next patch, when the QMP dispatcher routine will be
split from the QMP parser.

Changing the implementation of hmp_info_cpus() to call
qmp_query_cpus_fast() instead of qmp_query_cpus. This has the
following consequences:
o No further code change required for qmp_query_cpus deprecation
o HMP profits from the less disruptive cpu information retrieval
o HMP 'info cpus' won't display architecture specific data anymore,
which should be tolerable in the light of the deprecation of
query-cpus.
In order to allow 'info cpus' to be executed completely on the

If a CPU selected with the "cpu" command is hot-unplugged then "info cpus"
causes QEMU to exit:
(qemu) device_del cpu1
(qemu) info cpus
qemu:qemu_cpu_kick_thread: No such process
This happens because "cpu" stores the pointer to the selected CPU into
the monitor structure. When the CPU is hot-unplugged, we end up with a
dangling pointer. The "info cpus" command then does:
hmp_info_cpus()
monitor_get_cpu_index()
mon_get_cpu()
cpu_synchronize_state() <--- called with dangling pointer
This could cause a QEMU crash as well.
This patch switches the monitor to store the QOM path instead of a
pointer to the current CPU. The path is then resolved when needed.
If the resolution fails, we assume that the CPU was removed and the
path is resetted to the default (ie, path of first_cpu).

terminated by a NULL sentinel.
A future patch will generate enums with "holes". NULL-termination
will cease to work then.
To prepare for that, replace "have we reached the sentinel?"

The info registers command in the qemu monitor is used to dump register
values.
Currently this command uses the monitor cpu (which can be set by the
user) as the cpu for whose registers will be dumped. Sometimes it is
useful to see the registers for all cpus and currently this requires
setting the monitor cpu and the re-running the command for each cpu
in the system. I would be nice if there was an easier way to do this.
Add the "-a" option to the info registers command to dump the register
values for all cpus.

cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit
efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.
When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it

the flag go away soon.

qmp_check_input_obj() duplicates qmp_dispatch_check_obj(), except the
latter screws up an error message. handle_qmp_command() runs first
the former, then the latter via qmp_dispatch(), masking the screwup.
qemu-ga also masks the screwup, because it also duplicates checks,
just differently.
qmp_check_input_obj() exists because handle_qmp_command() needs to
examine the command before dispatching it. The previous commit got
rid of this need, except for a tracepoint, and a bit of "id" code that
relies on qdict not being null.
Fix up the error message in qmp_dispatch_check_obj(), drop
qmp_check_input_obj() and the tracepoint. Protect the "id" code with

To enforce capability negotiation before normal operation,
handle_qmp_command() inspects every command before it's handed off to
qmp_dispatch(). This is a bit of a layering violation, and results in
duplicated code.
Before capability negotiation (!cur_mon->in_command_mode), we fail
commands other than "qmp_capabilities". This is what enforces
capability negotiation.
Afterwards, we fail command "qmp_capabilities".
Clean this up as follows.
The obvious place to fail a command is the command itself, so move the
"afterwards" check to qmp_qmp_capabilities().
We do the "before" check in every other command, but that would be
bothersome. Instead, start with an alternate list of commands that
contains only "qmp_capabilities". Switch to the full list in
qmp_qmp_capabilities().
Additionally, replace the generic human-readable error message for
CommandNotFound by one that reminds the user to run qmp_capabilities.
Without that, we'd regress commit 2d5a834.

The way we get QMP commands registered is high tech:
* qapi-commands.py generates qmp_init_marshal() that does the actual work
* it also generates the magic to register it as a MODULE_INIT_QAPI
function, so it runs when someone calls
module_call_init(MODULE_INIT_QAPI)
* main() calls module_call_init()
QEMU needs to register a few non-qapified commands. Same high tech
works: monitor.c has its own qmp_init_marshal() along with the magic
to make it run in module_call_init(MODULE_INIT_QAPI).
QEMU also needs to unregister commands that are not wanted in this
build's configuration (commit 5032a16). Simple enough:
qmp_unregister_commands_hack(). The difficulty is to make it run
after the generated qmp_init_marshal(). We can't simply run it in
monitor.c's qmp_init_marshal(), because the order in which the
registered functions run is indeterminate. So qmp_init_marshal()
registers qmp_unregister_commands_hack() separately. Since
registering *appends* to the list of registered functions, this will
make it run after all the functions that have been registered already.
I suspect it takes a long and expensive computer science education to
not find this silly.
Dumb it down as follows:
* Drop MODULE_INIT_QAPI entirely
* Give the generated qmp_init_marshal() external linkage.
* Call it instead of module_call_init(MODULE_INIT_QAPI)
* Except in QEMU proper, call new monitor_init_qmp_commands() that in
turn calls the generated qmp_init_marshal(), registers the
additional commands and unregisters the unwanted ones.

This should meet all the requirements while being simple. In the
case of static expansion, it will use the new "base" CPU model,
and in the case of full expansion, it will keep the original CPU
model name+props, and append extra properties.
A future follow-up should improve the implementation of

Turn Chardev into Object.
qemu_chr_alloc() is replaced by the qemu_chardev_new() constructor. It
will call qemu_char_open() to open/intialize the chardev with the
ChardevCommon *backend settings.
The CharDriver::create() callback is turned into a ChardevClass::open()
which is called from the newly introduced qemu_chardev_open().
"chardev-gdb" and "chardev-hci" are internal chardev and aren't
creatable directly with -chardev. Use a new internal flag to disable
them. We may want to use TYPE_USER_CREATABLE interface instead, or
perhaps allow -chardev usage.
Although in general we keep typename and macros private, unless the type
is being used by some other file, in this patch, all types and common
helper macros for qemu-char.c are in char.h. This is to help transition
now (some types must be declared early, while some aren't shared) and
when splitting in several units. This is to be improved later.

Now that all front end use qemu_chr_fe_init(), we can move chardev
claiming in init(), and add a function deinit() to release the chardev
and cleanup handlers.
The qemu_chr_fe_claim_no_fail() for property are gone, since the
property will raise an error instead. In other cases, where there is
already an error path, an error is raised instead. Finally, other cases
are handled by &error_abort in qemu_chr_fe_init().

Instead of requiring clients to actually call the query-cpu-*
commands to find out if they are implemented, remove them from
the output of "query-commands", so clients know they are not

This is implemented by extending the existing hack at

more #ifdefs to that code, but that's the solution we have today.

Now that we allow CPU hot unplug on a few platforms, we can end up in a
situation where we don't have a CPU with index 0. Or at least we could,
if we didn't have code to explicitly prohibit unplug of CPU 0.
Longer term we want to allow CPU 0 unplug, this patch is an early step in
allowing this, by removing an assumption in the monitor code that CPU 0

We currently define QMP commands in two places: the QAPI schema and
qmp-commands.hx. The latter is preprocessed, the former is not. We
use the preprocessor to suppress configuration-specific commands. For
instance, query-spice is only available #ifdef CONFIG_SPICE.
QMP command dispatch and query-commands use the qmp-commands.hx
definition, and thus obey the #ifdeffery there. Good, because it lets
QMP clients probe for available features more easily.
query-qmp-schema uses the QAPI schema, and thus lists the
configuration-specific commands even when they're unavailable. Not so
good.
We're about to flip command dispatch and query-commands to the
non-middle-mode command registry, which uses the QAPI schema, so we
can ditch qmp-commands.hx. To avoid regressing query-commands,
arrange for commands that are suppressed with the preprocessor now to
be unregistered with that registry. This will keep them unavailable
and out of query-commands when we flip command dispatch and
query-commands to that registry, exactly as before.
This is a hack. The proper solution is to support
configuration-specific commands in the QAPI schema. Mark it FIXME.

This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat
union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the
former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are
now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated
from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no
change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and
will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP
command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but
it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with
the new types.
While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type
remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options,
and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper
around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named
'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions'
in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to
Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack
only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since
the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit
that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union.

This patch add "query-gic-capabilities" but does not implement it. The
command is ARM-only. The command will return a list of GICCapability
structs that describes all GIC versions that current QEMU and system
support.
Libvirt is possibly the first consumer of this new command.
Before this patch, a libvirt user can successfully configure all kinds
of GIC devices for ARM guests, no matter whether current QEMU/kernel
supports them. If the specified GIC version/type is not supported, the
user will get an ambiguous "QEMU boot failure" error when trying to start
the VM. This is not user-friendly.
With this patch, libvirt should be able to query which type (and which
version) of GIC device is supported. Using this information, libvirt
can warn the user during configuration of guests when specified GIC
device type is not supported. Or better, we can just list those versions
that we support, and filter out the unsupported ones.
For example, if we got the query result:
{"return": [{"emulated": false, "version": 3, "kernel": true},
{"emulated": true, "version": 2, "kernel": false}]}
then it means that we support emulated GIC version 2 using:
qemu-system-aarch64 -M virt,accel=tcg,gic-version=2 ...
or KVM-accelerated GIC version 3 using:
qemu-system-aarch64 -M virt,accel=kvm,gic-version=3 ...
If we specify other explicit GIC versions rather than the above, QEMU
will not be able to boot.
The community is working on a more generic way to query these kinds of
information about valid values of machine properties. However, due to
the importance of supporting this specific use case, weecided to first
implement this ad-hoc one; then when the generic method is ready, we
can move on to that one smoothly.

Both error_report_err() and monitor_printf() print to the same
destination when monitor_printf() is used correctly, i.e. within an
HMP monitor. Elsewhere, monitor_printf() does nothing, while
error_report_err() reports to stderr.
Most changed functions are HMP command handlers. These should only
run within an HMP monitor. The one exception is bdrv_password_cb(),
which should also only run within an HMP monitor.
Four command handlers prefix the error message with the command name:
balloon, migrate_set_capability, migrate_set_parameter, migrate.
Pointless, drop.
Unlike monitor_printf(), error_report_err() uses the error whole
instead of just its message obtained with error_get_pretty(). This
avoids suppressing its hint (see commit 50b7b00). Example:

When munging enum values, the fact that we were passing the entire
prefix + value through camel_to_upper() meant that enum values
spelled with CamelCase could be turned into CAMEL_CASE. However,
this provides a potential collision (both OneTwo and One-Two would
munge into ONE_TWO) for enum types, when the same two names are
valid side-by-side as QAPI member names. By changing the generation
of enum constants to always be prefix + '_' + c_name(value,
False).upper(), and ensuring that there are no case collisions (in
the next patches), we no longer have to worry about names that
would be distinct as QAPI members but collide as variant tag names,
without having to think about what munging the heuristics in
camel_to_upper() will actually perform on an enum value.
Making the change will affect enums that did not follow coding
conventions, using 'CamelCase' rather than desired 'lower-case'.
Thankfully, there are only two culprits: InputButton and ErrorClass.
We already tweaked ErrorClass to make it an alias of QapiErrorClass,
where only the alias needs changing rather than the whole tree. So
the bulk of this change is modifying INPUT_BUTTON_WHEEL_UP to the
new INPUT_BUTTON_WHEELUP (and likewise for WHEELDOWN). That part
of this commit may later need reverting if we rename the enum
constants from 'WheelUp' to 'wheel-up' as part of moving
x-input-send-event to a stable interface; but at least we have
documentation bread crumbs in place to remind us (commit 513e7cd),
and it matches the fact that SDL constants are also spelled
SDL_BUTTON_WHEELUP.

The qapi enum ErrorClass is unusual that it uses 'CamelCase' names,
contrary to our documented convention of preferring 'lower-case'.
However, this enum is entrenched in the API; we cannot change
what strings QMP outputs. Meanwhile, we want to simplify how
c_enum_const() is used to generate enum constants, by moving away
from the heuristics of camel_to_upper() to a more straightforward
c_name(N).upper() - but doing so will rename all of the ErrorClass
constants and cause churn to all client files, where the new names
are aesthetically less pleasing (ERROR_CLASS_DEVICENOTFOUND looks
like we can't make up our minds on whether to break between words).
So as always in computer science, solve the problem by some more
indirection: rename the qapi type to QapiErrorClass, and add a
new enum ErrorClass in error.h whose members are aliases of the
qapi type, but with the spelling expected elsewhere in the tree.
Then, when c_enum_const() changes the munging, we only have to
adjust the one alias spot.

Even though we still have the "streamer" concept, the tokens can now
be deleted as they are read. While doing so convert from QList to
GQueue, since the next step will make tokens not a QObject and we
will have to do the conversion anyway.

At the moment get_monitor_def() returns only registers from statically
defined monitor_defs array. However there is a lot of BOOK3S SPRs
which are not in the list and cannot be printed from the monitor.
This adds a new target platform hook - target_get_monitor_def().
The hook is called if a register was not found in the static
array returned by the target_monitor_defs() hook.
The hook is only defined for POWERPC, it returns registered
SPRs and fails on unregistered ones providing the user with information
on what is actually supported on the running CPU. The register value is
saved as uint64_t as it is the biggest supported register size;
target_ulong cannot be used because of the stub - it is in a "common"
code and cannot include "cpu.h", etc; this is also why the hook prototype
is redefined in the stub instead of being included from some header.
This replaces static descriptors for GPRs, FPRs, SRs with a helper which
looks for a value in a corresponding array in the CPUPPCState.
The immediate effect is that all 32 SRs can be printed now (instead of 16);
later this can be reused for VSX or TM registers.
This replaces callbacks for MSR and XER with static descriptors in
monitor_defs as they are stored in CPUPPCState.
While we are here, this adds "cr" as a synonym of "ccr".

VSERPORT_CHANGE is emitted when the guest opens or closes a
virtio-serial port. The event's member "id" identifies the port.
When several events arrive quickly, throttling drops all but the last
of them. Because of that, a QMP client must assume that *any* port
may have changed state when it receives a VSERPORT_CHANGE event and
throttling may have happened.
Make the event more useful by throttling it for each port separately.
