07c13a7172 hw/block/pflash_cfi: fix off-by-one error
ASAN reported:

hw/block/pflash_cfi02.c:245:33: runtime error: index 82 out of bounds for type 'uint8_t [82]'

Since the 'cfi_len' member is not used, remove it to keep the code safer.

bc6abcff7c vhost-user-blk: set config ops before vhost-user init
As soon as vhost-user init is done, the backend may send
VHOST_USER_SLAVE_CONFIG_CHANGE_MSG, so let's set the
notification callback before it.

Also, it will be used to know whether the device supports
the config feature to advertize it or not.

b3da551389 fdc: Exit if ISA controller does not support DMA
A "powernv" machine type defines an ISA bus but it does not add any DMA
controller to it so it is possible to hit assert(fdctrl->dma) by
adding "-machine powernv -device isa-fdc".

This replaces assert() with an error message.

1010cadf62 virtio-blk: fix race between .ioeventfd_stop() and vq handler
If the main loop thread invokes .ioeventfd_stop() just as the vq handler
function begins in the IOThread then the handler may lose the race for
the AioContext lock. By the time the vq handler is able to acquire the
AioContext lock the ioeventfd has already been removed and the handler
isn't supposed to run anymore!

Use the new aio_wait_bh_oneshot() function to perform ioeventfd removal
from within the IOThread. This way no races with the vq handler are
possible.

12c1c7d7ce virtio-blk: dataplane: Don't batch notifications if EVENT_IDX is present
Commit 5b2ffbe4d9 ("virtio-blk: dataplane:
notify guest as a batch") deferred guest notification to a BH in order
batch notifications, with purpose of avoiding flooding the guest with
interruptions.

This optimization came with a cost. The average latency perceived in the
guest is increased by a few microseconds, but also when multiple IO
operations finish at the same time, the guest won't be notified until
all completions from each operation has been run. On the contrary,
virtio-scsi issues the notification at the end of each completion.

On the other hand, nowadays we have the EVENT_IDX feature that allows a
better coordination between QEMU and the Guest OS to avoid sending
unnecessary interruptions.

With this change, virtio-blk/dataplane only batches notifications if the
EVENT_IDX feature is not present.

9af2398977 Include less of the generated modular QAPI headers
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in
qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100
objects.

The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h,
qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards.
Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need.

To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now
recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will
improve it further.

7f1d87ab0f trace: avoid SystemTap "char const" warnings
SystemTap's dtrace(1) produces the following warning when it encounters
"char const" instead of "const char":

  Warning: /usr/bin/dtrace:trace-dtrace-root.dtrace:66: syntax error near:
  probe flatview_destroy_rcu

Warning: Proceeding as if --no-pyparsing was given.

This is a limitation in current SystemTap releases. I have sent a patch
upstream to accept "char const" since it is valid C:

  https://sourceware.org/ml/systemtap/2018-q1/msg00017.html

In QEMU we still wish to avoid warnings in the current SystemTap
release. It's simple enough to replace "char const" with "const char".

I'm not changing the documentation or implementing checks to prevent
this from occurring again in the future. The next release of SystemTap
will hopefully resolve this issue.

d61a363d3e pci: removed the is_express field since a uniform interface was inserted
according to Eduardo Habkost's commit fd3b02c889 all PCIEs now implement
INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE so we don't need is_express field anymore.

Devices that implements only INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE (is_express == 1)
or
devices that implements only INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE (is_express == 0)
where not affected by the change.

The only devices that were affected are those that are hybrid and also
had (is_express == 1) - therefor only:
  - hw/vfio/pci.c
  - hw/usb/hcd-xhci.c
  - hw/xen/xen_pt.c

76143618a5 virtio: remove event notifier cleanup call on de-assign
The virtio_bus_set_host_notifier function no longer calls
event_notifier_cleanup when a event notifier is removed.

The commit updates the code to match the new behavior and calls
virtio_bus_cleanup_host_notifier after the notifier was de-assign
and no longer in use.

This change is a preparation to allow executing the

00343e4b54 vhost-user-blk: introduce a new vhost-user-blk host device
This commit introduces a new vhost-user device for block, it uses a
chardev to connect with the backend, same with Qemu virito-blk device,
Guest OS still uses the virtio-blk frontend driver.

To use it, start QEMU with command line like this:

qemu-system-x86_64 \
    -chardev socket,id=char0,path=/path/vhost.socket \
    -device vhost-user-blk-pci,chardev=char0,num-queues=2, \
            bootindex=2... \

Users can use different parameters for `num-queues` and `bootindex`.

Different with exist Qemu virtio-blk host device, it makes more easy
for users to implement their own I/O processing logic, such as all
user space I/O stack against hardware block device. It uses the new
vhost messages(VHOST_USER_GET_CONFIG) to get block virtio config
information from backend process.

2562755ee7 maint: Fix macros with broken 'do/while(0); ' usage
The point of writing a macro embedded in a 'do { ... } while (0)'
loop (particularly if the macro has multiple statements or would
otherwise end with an 'if' statement) is so that the macro can be
used as a drop-in statement with the caller supplying the
trailing ';'. Although our coding style frowns on brace-less 'if':
  if (cond)
    statement;
  else
    something else;
that is the classic case where failure to use do/while(0) wrapping
would cause the 'else' to pair with any embedded 'if' in the macro
rather than the intended outer 'if'. But conversely, if the macro
includes an embedded ';', then the same brace-less coding style
would now have two statements, making the 'else' a syntax error
rather than pairing with the outer 'if'. Thus, even though our
coding style with required braces is not impacted, ending a macro
with ';' makes our code harder to port to projects that use
brace-less styles.

The change should have no semantic impact. I was not able to
fully compile-test all of the changes (as some of them are
examples of the ugly bit-rotting debug print statements that are
completely elided by default, and I didn't want to recompile
with the necessary -D witnesses - cleaning those up is left as a
bite-sized task for another day); I did, however, audit that for
all files touched, all callers of the changed macros DID supply
a trailing ';' at the callsite, and did not appear to be used
as part of a brace-less conditional.

Found mechanically via: $ git grep -B1 'while (0);' | grep -A1 \\\\

0a75b60cdb virtio-blk: reject configs with logical block size > physical block size
virtio-blk logical block size should never be larger than physical block
size because it doesn't make sense to have such configurations. QEMU doesn't
have a way to effectively express this condition; the best it can do is
report the physical block exponent as 0 - indicating the logical block size
equals the physical block size.

This is identical to commit 3da023b582

9d3b155186 hw/block: Fix the return type
When the function no success value to transmit, it usually make the
function return void. It has turned out not to be a success, because
it means that the extra local_err variable and error_propagate() will
be needed. It leads to cumbersome code, therefore, transmit success/
failure in the return value is worth.

So fix the return type of blkconf_apply_backend_options(),
blkconf_geometry() and virtio_blk_data_plane_create() to avoid it.

e38c3e86df xen: dont try setting max grants multiple times
Trying to call xengnttab_set_max_grants() with the same file handle
might fail on some kernels, as this operation is allowed only once.

This is a problem for the qdisk backend as blk_connect() can be
called multiple times for a domain, e.g. in case grub-xen is being
used to boot it.

So instead of letting the generic backend code open the gnttab device
do it in blk_connect() and close it again in blk_disconnect.

b5e397a79e xen: add a global indicator for grant copy being available
The Xen qdisk backend needs to test whether grant copy operations is
available in the kernel. Unfortunately this collides with using
xengnttab_set_max_grants() on some kernels as this operation has to
be the first one after opening the gnttab device.

In order to solve this problem test for the availability of grant copy
in xen_be_init() opening the gnttab device just for that purpose and
closing it again afterwards. Advertise the availability via a global
flag and use that flag in the qdisk backend.

cdd346371e nvme: Fix get/set number of queues feature, again
The number of queues that should be return by the admin command should:

  1) Only mention the number of non-admin queues.
  2) It is zero-based, meaning that '0 == one non-admin queue',
'1 == two non-admin queues', and so forth.

Because our `num_queues` means the number of queues _plus_ the admin
queue, then the right calculation for the number returned from the admin
command is `num_queues - 2`, combining the two requirements mentioned.

The issue was discovered by reducing num_queues from 64 to 8 and running
a Linux VM with an SMP parameter larger than that (e.g. 22). It tries to
utilize all queues, and therefore fails with an invalid queue number
when trying to queue I/Os on the last queue.

This patch adds vdev so it's clear which device a request is associated

d2164ad35c vmstate: error hint for failed equal checks
In some cases a failing VMSTATE_*_EQUAL does not mean we detected a bug,
but it's actually the best we can do. Especially in these cases a verbose
error message is required.

Let's introduce infrastructure for specifying a error hint to be used if
equal check fails. Let's do this by adding a parameter to the _EQUAL
macros called _err_hint. Also change all current users to pass NULL as
last parameter so nothing changes for them.
