Peter Maydell 1324f06384 uuid: Make qemu_uuid_bswap() take and return a QemuUUID
Currently qemu_uuid_bswap() takes a pointer to the QemuUUID to
be byte-swapped. This means it can't be used when the UUID
to be swapped is in a packed member of a struct. It's also
out of line with the general bswap*() functions we provide
in bswap.h, which take the value to be swapped and return it.

Make qemu_uuid_bswap() take a QemuUUID and return the swapped version.

This fixes some clang warnings about taking the address of
a packed struct member in block/vdi.c.

Igor Mammedov acee774b3d tests: acpi: reuse fetch_table() in vmgenid-test
Move fetch_table() into acpi-utils.c renaming it to acpi_fetch_table()
and reuse it in vmgenid-test that reads RSDT and then tables it references,
to find and parse VMGNEID SSDT.
While at it wrap RSDT referenced tables enumeration into FOREACH macro
(similar to what we do with QLIST_FOREACH & co) to reuse it with bios and
vmgenid tests.

Samuel Ortiz d6caf3631c hw: acpi: Remove AcpiRsdpDescriptor and fix tests

Thomas Huth ac16ab753a tests/vmgenid: Make test independent of global_qtest
The biggest part has already been done in the previous patch, we now
only have to replace some few qmp() and readb() calls with the
corresponding qtest_*() functions to get there.

Eric Blake 273e3d92cf tests/acpi-utils: Drop dependence on global_qtest
As a general rule, we prefer avoiding implicit global state
because it makes code harder to safely copy and paste without
thinking about the global state. Adjust the helper code to
use explicit state instead, and update all callers.

bios-tables-test no longer depends on global_qtest, now that it
passes explicit state through the testsuite data; an assert
proves this fact (although we will get rid of it later, once
global_qtest is gone).

Markus Armbruster 88b988c895 libqtest: Replace qtest_startf() by qtest_initf()
qtest_init() creates a new QTestState, and leaves @global_qtest alone.
qtest_start() additionally assigns it to @global_qtest, but
qtest_startf() additionally assigns NULL to @global_qtest. This makes
no sense. Replace it by qtest_initf() that works like qtest_init(),
i.e. leaves @global_qtest alone.

Marc-André Lureau cb3e7f08ae qobject: Replace qobject_incref/QINCREF qobject_decref/QDECREF
Now that we can safely call QOBJECT() on QObject * as well as its
subtypes, we can have macros qobject_ref() / qobject_unref() that work
everywhere instead of having to use QINCREF() / QDECREF() for QObject
and qobject_incref() / qobject_decref() for its subtypes.

The replacement is mechanical, except I broke a long line, and added a
cast in monitor_qmp_cleanup_req_queue_locked().  Unlike
qobject_decref(), qobject_unref() doesn't accept void *.

Note that the new macros evaluate their argument exactly once, thus no
need to shout them.

Thomas Huth 3831c07b89 tests/bios-tables-test: Fix endianess problems when passing data to iasl
The bios-tables-test was writing out files that we pass to iasl in
with the wrong endianness in the header when running on a big endian
host. So instead of storing mixed endian information in our structures,
let's keep everything in little endian and byte-swap it only when we
need a value in the code.

Eric Blake 78b27bade1 libqtest: Add qtest_[v]startf()
We have several callers that were formatting the argument strings
themselves; consolidate this effort by adding new convenience
functions directly in libqtest, and update some call-sites that
can benefit from it.

Note that the new functions qtest_startf() and qtest_vstartf()
behave more like qtest_init() (the caller must assign global_qtest
after the fact, rather than getting it implicitly set). This helps
us prepare for future patches that get rid of the global variable,
by explicitly highlighting which tests still depend on it now.

Michael S. Tsirkin 4871b51b92 vmgenid-test: use boot-sector infrastructure
There's no requirement for RSDP to be installed last
by the firmware, so in rare cases vmgen id test hits
a race: RSDP is there but VM GEN ID isn't.

Ben Warren 83f3c70919 tests: Add unit tests for the VM Generation ID feature
The following tests are implemented:
* test that a GUID passed in by command line is propagated to the guest.
Read the GUID from guest memory
* test that the "auto" argument to the GUID generates a valid GUID, as
  seen by the guest.
* test that a GUID passed in can be queried from the monitor

This patch is loosely based on a previous patch from:
Gal Hammer <ghammer@redhat.com> and Igor Mammedov <imammedo@redhat.com>
