d1b8eadbc4 migration: introduce SaveVMHandlers.resume_prepare
This is hook function to be called when a postcopy migration wants to
resume from a failure. For each module, it should provide its own
recovery logic before we switch to the postcopy-active state.

b35ebdf076 migration: add postcopy migration of dirty bitmaps
Postcopy migration of dirty bitmaps. Only named dirty bitmaps are migrated.

If destination qemu is already containing a dirty bitmap with the same name
as a migrated bitmap (for the same node), then, if their granularities are
the same the migration will be done, otherwise the error will be generated.

If destination qemu doesn't contain such bitmap it will be created.

9af2398977 Include less of the generated modular QAPI headers
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in
qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100
objects.

The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h,
qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards.
Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need.

To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now
recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will
improve it further.

9d6b9db19c pci/bus: let it has higher migration priority
In the past, we prioritized IOMMU migration so that we have such a
priority order:

    IOMMU > PCI Devices

When migrating a guest with both vIOMMU and a pcie-root-port, we'll
always migrate vIOMMU first, since pci buses will be seen to have the
same priority of general PCI devices.

That's problematic.

The thing is that PCI bus number information is stored in the root port,
and that is needed by vIOMMU during post_load(), e.g., to figure out
context entry for a device. If we don't have correct bus numbers for
devices, we won't be able to recover device state of the DMAR memory
regions, and things will be messed up.

So let's boost the PCIe root ports to be even with higher priority:

PCIe Root Port > IOMMU > PCI Devices

A smoke test shows that this patch fixes bug 1538953.

Also, apply this rule to all the PCI bus/bridge devices: ioh3420,
xio3130_downstream, xio3130_upstream, pcie_pci_bridge, pci-pci bridge,
i82801b11.

I noted that we set pcie_pci_bridge_dev_vmstate twice. Clean that up
together.

44b1ff319c migration: pre_save return int
Modify the pre_save method on VMStateDescription to return an int
rather than void so that it potentially can fail.

Changed zillions of devices to make them return 0; the only

had an error_report/return case.

Note: If you add an error exit in your pre_save you must emit

c646762736 migration: add has_postcopy savevm handler
Now postcopy-able states are recognized by not NULL
save_live_complete_postcopy handler. But when we have several different
postcopy-able states, it is not convenient. Ram postcopy may be
disabled, while some other postcopy enabled, in this case Ram state
should behave as it is not postcopy-able.

This patch add separate has_postcopy handler to specify behaviour of

In some cases a failing VMSTATE_*_EQUAL does not mean we detected a bug,

e5cb7e7677 migration: let MigrationState be a qdev
Let the old man "MigrationState" join the object family. Direct benefit
is that we can start to use all the property features derived from
current QDev, like: HW_COMPAT_* bits, command line setup for migration
parameters (so will never need to set them up each time using HMP/QMP,
this is really, really attractive for test writters), etc.

I see no reason to disallow this happen yet. So let's start from this
one, to see whether it would be anything good.

Now we init the MigrationState struct statically in main() to make sure
it's initialized after global properties are applied, since we'll use
them during creation of the object.

No functional change at all.

ed1701c6a5 block migration: Allow compile time disable
Many users now prefer to use drive_mirror over NBD as an
alternative to the older migrate -b option; drive_mirror is
more complex to setup but gives you more options (e.g. only
migrating some of the disks if some of them are shared).

Allow the large chunk of block migration code to be compiled
out for those who don't use it.

Based on a downstream-patch we've had for a while by Jeff Cody.

We have change in the previous patch to use migration capabilities for
it. Notice that we continue using the old command line flags from
migrate command from the time being. Remove the set_params method as
now it is empty.

For savevm, one can't do a:

savevm -b/-i foo

but now one can do:

migrate_set_capability block on
savevm foo

And we can't use block migration. We could disable block capability
unconditionally, but it would not be much better.

d3a5038c46 exec: ram_block_discard_range
Create ram_block_discard_range in exec.c to replace
postcopy_ram_discard_range and most of ram_discard_range.

Those two routines are a bit of a weird combination, and
ram_discard_range is about to get more complex for hugepages.
It's OS dependent code (so shouldn't be in migration/ram.c) but
it needs quite a bit of the innards of RAMBlock so doesn't belong in
the os*.c.

e8ca1db29b postcopy: Transmit ram size summary word
Replace the host page-size in the 'advise' command by a pagesize
summary bitmap; if the VM is just using normal RAM then
this will be exactly the same as before, however if they're using
huge pages they'll be different, and thus:
   a) Migration from/to old qemu's that don't understand huge pages
      will fail early.
   b) Migrations with different size RAMBlocks will also fail early.

This catches it very early; earlier than the detailed per-block
check in the next patch.

7562f90707 migrate: Introduce a 'dc->vmsd' check to avoid segfault for --only-migratable
Commit a3a3d8c7 introduced a segfault bug while checking for
'dc->vmsd->unmigratable' which caused QEMU to crash when trying to add
devices which do no set their 'dc->vmsd' yet while initialization.
Place a 'dc->vmsd' check prior to it so that we do not segfault for
such devices.

NOTE: This doesn't compromise the functioning of --only-migratable
option as all the unmigratable devices do set their 'dc->vmsd'.

Introduce a new function check_migratable() and move the
only_migratable check inside it, also use stubs to avoid user-mode qemu
build failures.

07d4e69147 migration/vmstate: fix array of ptr with nullptrs
Make VMS_ARRAY_OF_POINTER cope with null pointers. Previously the
reward for trying to migrate an array with some null pointers in it was
an illegal memory access, that is a swift and painless death of the
process. Let's make vmstate cope with this scenario.

The general approach is, when we encounter a null pointer (element),
instead of following the pointer to save/load the data behind it, we
save/load a placeholder. This way we can detect if we expected a null
pointer at the load side but not null data was saved instead.

bcf4513129 migration: Add VMSTATE_WITH_TMP
VMSTATE_WITH_TMP is for handling structures where some calculation
or rearrangement of the data needs to be performed before the data
hits the wire.
For example, where the value on the wire is an offset from a
non-migrated base, but the data in the structure is the actual pointer.

To use it, a temporary type is created and a vmsd used on that type.
The first element of the type must be 'parent' a pointer back to the
type of the main structure. VMSTATE_WITH_TMP takes care of allocating
and freeing the temporary before running the child vmsd.

The post_load/pre_save on the child vmsd can copy things from the parent
to the temporary using the parent pointer and do any other calculations
needed; it can then use normal VMSD entries to do the actual data
storage without having to fiddle around with qemu_get_*/qemu_put_*

59046ec29a migration: consolidate VMStateField.start
The member VMStateField.start is used for two things, partial data
migration for VBUFFER data (basically provide migration for a
sub-buffer) and for locating next in QTAILQ.

The implementation of the VBUFFER feature is broken when VMSTATE_ALLOC
is used. This however goes unnoticed because actually partial migration
for VBUFFER is not used at all.

Let's consolidate the usage of VMStateField.start by removing support
for partial migration for VBUFFER.
