To support definitions of s390 pci attributes in Qemu cmdline, we have
to make current S390PCIBusDevice struct inherit DeviceState and add
three properties for it. Currently we only support definitions of uid
and fid.
'uid' is optionally defined by users, identifies a zpci device and
must be defined with a 16-bit and non-zero unique value.
'fid' ranges from 0x0 to 0xFFFFFFFF. For fid property, we introduce a
new PropertyInfo by the name of s390_pci_fid_propinfo with our special
setter and getter. As 'fid' is optional, introduce 'fid_defined' to
track whether the user specified a fid.
'target' field is to direct qemu to find the corresponding generic PCI
device. It is equal to the 'id' value of one of generic pci devices.
If the user doesn't specify 'id' parameter for a generic pci device,
its 'id' value will be generated automatically and use this value as
'target' to create an associated zpci device.
If the user did not specify 'uid' or 'fid', values are generated
automatically. 'target' is required.
In addition, if a pci device has no associated zpci device, the code
will generate a zpci device automatically for it.

Currently each zpci device holds its own DMA address space and memory
region. At the same time, all instances of zpci device are stored in
S390pciState. So duirng the initialization of S390pciState, all zpci
devices are created and then all DMA address spaces are created. Thus,
when initializing pci devices, their corresponding DMA address spaces
could be found.
But zpci qdev will be introduced later. Zpci device may be initialized
and plugged afterwards generic pci device. So we should initialize all
DMA address spaces and memory regions before initializing zpci devices.
We introduce a new struct named S390PCIIOMMU. And a new field of
S390pciState, which is an array to store all instances of S390PCIIOMMU,
is added so that qemu pci code could find the corresponding DMA
address space when initializing a generic pci device. And this should
be done before the connection of a zpci device and a generic pci
device is built.

There are a number of places where the code needs to get the instance
of S390pciState. It calls object_resolve_path() every time. This
wastes a lot of time and leads to low performance. Thus we add
s390_get_phb() to improve it.
Because we always have a phb, we remove all return checkings in the
callers and add an assert in s390_get_phb() to make sure that phb is
getted successfully.

In commit d78c19b5cf, vfio code stores
the IOMMU's offset_within_address_space and adjusts the IOVA before
calling vfio_dma_map/vfio_dma_unmap. But s390_translate_iommu already
considers the base address of an IOMMU memory region.
Thus we use pal as the size and 0x0 as the base address to initialize
IOMMU memory subregion.

The previous patch moved virtual css bridge and bus out from
virtio-ccw, but kept the direct reference of virtio-ccw specific
unplug function inside css-bridge.c.
To make the virtual css bus and bridge useful for non-virtio devices,
this introduces a common unplug function pointer "unplug" to call
specific virtio-ccw unplug parts. Thus, the tight coupling to
virtio-ccw can be removed.
This unplug pointer is a member of CCWDeviceClass, which is introduced
as an abstract device layer called "ccw-device". This layer is between
DeviceState and specific devices which are plugged in virtual css bus,
like virtio-ccw device. The specific unplug handlers should be assigned
to "unplug" during initialization.

Currently, common base layers virtual css bridge and bus are
defined in hw/s390x/virtio-ccw.c(h). In order to support
multiple types of devices in the virtual channel subsystem,
especially non virtio-ccw, refactoring work needs to be done.
This work is just a pure code move without any functional change
except dropping an empty function virtual_css_bridge_init() and
virtio_ccw_busdev_unplug() changing. virtio_ccw_busdev_unplug()
is specific to virtio-ccw but gets referenced from the common
virtual css bridge code. To keep the functional changes to a
minimum we export this function from virtio-ccw.c and continue
to reference it inside virtual_css_bridge_class_init()
(now living in hw/s390x/css-bridge.c). A follow-up patch will
clean this up.

When migrating from a different QEMU version, the start_address and
bios_start_address may differ. During migration these values are migrated
and overwrite the values that were detected by QEMU itself.
On a reboot, QEMU will reload its own BIOS, but use the migrated start
addresses, which does not work if the values differ.
Fix this by not relying on the migrated values anymore, but still
provide them during migration, so existing QEMUs continue to work.

If bootindex is specified for a device, we need to IPL from
it. Currently it works for ccw devices, but not for SCSI. To be able to
IPL from the specific device, pc-bios needs to know its address.
For this reason we add special QEMU_SCSI IPL type into the IPLB
structure, that contains the scsi device address.
We enhance the ipl block with a currently qemu-only parameter block
that allows us to specify a concrete scsi device.

The sclp scp read info call fills in a buffer with information about the
system. With more than 248 CPUs we overflow the 4k buffer of the SCCB,
leading to random data corruption. Basically ALL guest operating systems
call scp read info, so let's limit the machines to 248 CPUs to make it
obvious that >=249 does not work.
As KVM also limits itself to 248 and TCG on s390 does not support
SMP, this should cause no regression for any user as no VMs with more
than 248 VCPUs were ever possible.

Let's introduce a CssDevId to handle device ids of the xx.x.xxxx
type used for channel devices. This has some benefits:
- We can use them in virtio-ccw and split the validity checks for
a channel device id in general from the constraint checking
within the virtio-ccw scope.
- We can reuse the device id type for future non-virtio channel
devices.
While we're at it, improve the validity checks and disallow e.g.
trailing characters.

According to the Principles of Operation (more precisely the subsection
'Channel-Report Word'), a subchannel put into the installed parameters
initialized state is in the same state as after an I/O system reset (just
parameters possibly changed). This implies that any I/O interrupts for that
subchannel are no longer pending (as I/O system resets clear I/O
interrupts). Therefore, we need an interface to clear pending I/O
interrupts. Make css_generate_sch_crws clear the pending IO interrupts for
the subchannel.

The s390 skeys monitor command needs to write out a plain text
file. Currently it is using the QEMUFile class for this, but
work is ongoing to refactor QEMUFile and eliminate much code
related to it. The only feature qemu_fopen() gives over fopen()
is support for QEMU FD passing, but this can be achieved with
qemu_open() + fdopen() too. Switching to regular stdio FILE
APIs avoids the need to sprintf via an intermedia buffer which
slightly simplifies the code.

Switch to adding compat properties incrementaly instead of
completly overwriting compat_props per machine type.
That removes data duplication which we have due to nested
[PC|SPAPR]_COMPAT_* macros.
It also allows to set default device properties from
default foo_machine_options() hook, which will be used
in following patch for putting VMGENID device as
a function if ISA bridge on pc/q35 machines.

We introduce iommu_enabled field for S390PCIBusDevice struct to
track whether the iommu has been enabled for the device. This allows
us to stop temporarily changing ->configured while en/disabling the

We don't need to pass device address for pc-bios using gr7 anymore as
the pcbios completely relies on diag308 now, so we can remove it from
qemu. devno, ssid and cssid are migrated but the value was never reused,
so we can safely ignore these fields and migrate 0.

We can check for valid type and lengths of the IplParameterBlock fields
when receiving the struct from the guest.
Length of the IplParameterBlock can be less than 4K. To play safe we can
read and write only required amount of data.

The IplParameterBlock struct currently has only 200 bytes filled, but it
can be up to 4K.
This patch converts the struct to union with a fully populated struct
inside it and second struct with old values.
For compatibility reasons we disable migration of the extended iplb
field for pre-2.7 machines. Also a guest still can read/write only the
first 200 bytes of IPLB for now.

Introduce run-time-instrumentation support when running under kvm for
virtio-ccw 2.7 machine and make sure older machines can not enable it.
The new ri_allowed field in the s390MachineClass serves as an indicator
whether the feature can be used by the machine and should therefore be
activated if available.
riccb_needed() is used to check whether riccb is needed or not in live
migration.

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include

qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

As we now have the new machine definitions, that let us disable/enable
machine options more easily, we need a way to save them and make them
publicly available.
The new s390-virtio-ccw.h header exports the s390 ccw machine state
and class, so they can be easily used in other C files.

Most of the machine definition code looks the same between different
machine versions. The new DEFINE_CCW_MACHINE macro makes defining a
new machine easier by inserting standard machine version
definitions. This also makes it possible to propagate values between
machine versions.
The patch is inspired by code from hw/ppc/spapr.c

Ensure a valid cpu_model is set upfront by setting the

Some CPUs are of an opposite data-endianness to other components in the
system. Sometimes elfs have the data sections layed out with this CPU
data-endianness accounting for when loaded via the CPU, so byte swaps
(relative to other system components) will occur.
The leading example, is ARM's BE32 mode, which is is basically LE with
address manipulation on half-word and byte accesses to access the
hw/byte reversed address. This means that word data is invariant
across LE and BE32. This also means that instructions are still LE.
The expectation is that the elf will be loaded via the CPU in this
endianness scheme, which means the data in the elf is reversed at
compile time.
As QEMU loads via the system memory directly, rather than the CPU, we
need a mechanism to reverse elf data endianness to implement this
possibility.

Currently, virtio-ccw uses its own interfaces to keep indicators mapped
just once even if the same address has been registered multiple times.
These interfaces fit the PCI use case as well. Therefore, move them to
css and make them generic interfaces.

This is an s390 boot rom which was used in s390-virtio machine.
but since commit 3538fb6f89
"s390x: remove s390-virtio machine", this file isn't used.
The only place it is referenced in the code is an unused
define ZIPL_FILENAME. There's also comment in hw/s390/ipl.c
which I'm modifying too, to refer to s390-ccw.img instead.

Only one channel report word (crw) may be pending if there is
event-information pending.
This patch introduces a bool-type field 'sei_pending' for the
channel subsystem, which indicates whether there are pending events.
It is set when event information is made pending and the crw
generated, and cleared after the guest has collected all pending
event information. A crw is not generated if this flag had already
been set.

The init of a device should have no side effects. Therefore move
registering of the event facility into the realize function, so
multiple instances of the SCLP device can be created e.g. for
introspection.
Add some more detail as to why we have to add it to the sysbus
at all.

Both error_report_err() and monitor_printf() print to the same
destination when monitor_printf() is used correctly, i.e. within an
HMP monitor. Elsewhere, monitor_printf() does nothing, while
error_report_err() reports to stderr.
Most changed functions are HMP command handlers. These should only
run within an HMP monitor. The one exception is bdrv_password_cb(),
which should also only run within an HMP monitor.
Four command handlers prefix the error message with the command name:
balloon, migrate_set_capability, migrate_set_parameter, migrate.
Pointless, drop.
Unlike monitor_printf(), error_report_err() uses the error whole
instead of just its message obtained with error_get_pretty(). This
avoids suppressing its hint (see commit 50b7b00). Example:

According to the s390 architecture, any mpcifc, pcilg, pcistg,
pcistb and rpcit instructions issued to disabled PCI functions
are rejected, and the instruction completes by setting condition
code 3. In addition, any DMA and MSIX interruption operations
are ignored.

The s390-virtio machine has been removed; remove the associated devices
as well.
hw/s390x/s390-virtio-bus.c and hw/s390x/s390-virtio-bus.h
have been deleted and removed from hw/s390x/Makefile.objs
virtio-size has no more meaning for the modern machine
and has been removed from helper.c and cpu.h
virtio-serial-s390 belonging to the old machine is
being removed from vl.c

If you run a qemu advertising VERSION_1 with an old kernel where
vhost did not yet support VERSION_1, you'll end up with a device
that is {modern pci|ccw revision 1} but does not advertise VERSION_1.
This is not a sensible configuration and is rejected by the Linux
guest drivers.
To fix this, add a ->post_plugged() callback invoked after features
have been queried that can handle the VERSION_1 bit being withdrawn
and change ccw to fall back to revision 0 if VERSION_1 is gone.
Note that pci is _not_ fixed; we'll need to rethink the approach
for the next release but at least for pci it's not a regression.

Present code uses @size==UINT64_MAX to initialize IOMMU. It infers that it
can map any 64-bit IOVA whatsoever. But in fact, the largest DMA range for
each PCI Device on s390x is from ZPCI_SDMA_ADDR to ZPCI_EDMA_ADDR. The largest
value is returned from hardware, which is to indicate the largest range
hardware can support. But the real IOMMU size for specific PCI Device is
obtained once qemu intercepts mpcifc instruction that guest is requesting a
DMA range for that PCI Device. Therefore, before intercepting mpcifc instruction,
qemu cannot be aware of the size of IOMMU region that guest will use.
Moreover, iommu replay during device initialization for the whole region in
4k steps takes a very long time.
In conclusion, this patch intializes IOMMU region for each PCI Device when
intercept mpcifc instruction which is to register DMA range for the PCI Device.
And then, destroy IOMMU region when guest wants to deregister IOAT.

The non-ccw machine for s390 (s390-virtio) is not very well maintained
and caused several issues in the past:
- aliases like virtio-blk did not work for s390
- virtio refactoring failed due to long standing bugs (e.g.see
commit cb927b8a "s390-virtio: Accommodate guests using virtqueues too early")
- some features like memory hotplug will cause trouble due to virtio storage
being above guest memory
- the boot loader bios no longer seems to work. the source code of that
loader is also no longer maintained
2.4 changed the default to the ccw machine, let's deprecate the old
machine for 2.5.

By replacing memory_region_init_ram with memory_region_allocate_system_memory
we gain goodies like mem-path backends. This will allow us to use hugetlbfs
once the kernel supports it.

On s390x, each pci device has its own iommu, which is only properly
setup in qemu once the mpcifc instruction used to register the
translation table has been intercepted. Therefore, for a pci device that
is not configured or has not been initialized, proper translation is
neither required nor possible. Moreover, we may not have a host bridge
device ready yet.
This was exposed by a recent vfio change that triggers iommu translation
during the initialization of the vfio pci device. Let's do an early exit
in that case.

We keep the device's sense data in a byte array (following the
architecture), but the ecws are an array of 32 bit values. If we
just blindly copy the values, the sense data will change from
de-facto BE data to de-facto cpu-endian data, which means we end
up doing an incorrect conversion on LE hosts.
Let's just explicitly convert to cpu-endianness while assembling
the irb.
