Cornelia Huck 02501fc393 compat: disable edid on correct virtio-gpu device
Commit bb15791166 ("compat: disable edid on virtio-gpu base
device") tried to disable 'edid' on the virtio-gpu base device.
However, that device is not 'virtio-gpu', but 'virtio-gpu-device'.
Fix it.

Richard Henderson e43917cce5 target/rx: Dump bytes for each insn during disassembly
There are so many different forms of each RX instruction
that it will be very useful to be able to look at the bytes

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy 2d00cbd8e2 block/qcow2-bitmap: use bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy dacbb6eb8a nbd/server: use bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty_area
Use bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty_area for bitmap_to_extents. Since
bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty_area is very accurate in its interface,
we'll never exceed requested region with last chunk. So, we don't need
dont_fragment, and bitmap_to_extents() interface becomes clean enough
to not require any comment.

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy 299ea9ff01 block/dirty-bitmap: improve _next_dirty_area API
Firstly, _next_dirty_area is for scenarios when we may contiguously
search for next dirty area inside some limited region, so it is more
comfortable to specify "end" which should not be recalculated on each
iteration.

Secondly, let's add a possibility to limit resulting area size, not
limiting searching area. This will be used in NBD code in further
commit. (Note that now bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty_area is unused)

We have bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_zero, let's add corresponding

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy 642700fda0 block/dirty-bitmap: switch _next_dirty_area and _next_zero to int64_t
We are going to introduce bdrv_dirty_bitmap_next_dirty so that same
variable may be used to store its return value and to be its parameter,
so it would int64_t.

Similarly, we are going to refactor hbitmap_next_dirty_area to use
hbitmap_next_dirty together with hbitmap_next_zero, therefore we want
hbitmap_next_zero parameter type to be int64_t too.

So, for convenience update all parameters of *_next_zero and
*_next_dirty_area to be int64_t.

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy 6a150995d4 hbitmap: assert that we don't create bitmap larger than INT64_MAX
We have APIs which returns signed int64_t, to be able to return error.
Therefore we can't handle bitmaps with absolute size larger than

safer.

Note, that bitmaps are used to represent disk images, which can't

This example may be used as a template for custom benchmark.
It illustrates three things to prepare:
 - define bench_func
 - define test environments (columns)
 - define test cases (rows)
And final call of simplebench API.

Peter Maydell 781c67ca55 cpu: Use DeviceClass reset instead of a special CPUClass reset
The CPUClass has a 'reset' method. This is a legacy from when
TYPE_CPU used not to inherit from TYPE_DEVICE. We don't need it any
more, as we can simply use the TYPE_DEVICE reset. The 'cpu_reset()'
function is kept as the API which most places use to reset a CPU; it
is now a wrapper which calls device_cold_reset() and then the
tracepoint function.

This change should not cause CPU objects to be reset more often
than they are at the moment, because:
 * nobody is directly calling device_cold_reset() or
   qdev_reset_all() on CPU objects
 * no CPU object is on a qbus, so they will not be reset either
   by somebody calling qbus_reset_all()/bus_cold_reset(), or
by the main "reset sysbus and everything in the qbus tree"
reset that most devices are reset by

Note that this does not change the need for each machine or whatever
to use qemu_register_reset() to arrange to call cpu_reset() -- that
is necessary because CPU objects are not on any qbus, so they don't
get reset when the qbus tree rooted at the sysbus bus is reset, and
this isn't being changed here.

All the changes to the files under target/ were made using the
included Coccinelle script, except:

(1) the deletion of the now-inaccurate and not terribly useful
"CPUClass::reset" comments was done with a perl one-liner afterwards:
  perl -n -i -e '/ CPUClass::reset/ or print' target/*/*.c

(2) this bit of the s390 change was done by hand, because the
Coccinelle script is not sophisticated enough to handle the
parent_reset call being inside another function:

Dr. David Alan Gilbert 4ba59be1d6 machine/memory encryption: Disable mem merge
When a host is running with memory encryption, the memory isn't visible
to the host kernel; attempts to merge that memory are futile because
what it's really comparing is encrypted memory, usually encrypted
with different keys.

Automatically turn mem-merge off when memory encryption is specified.
