408e5ace51 s390x/sclp: fix maxram calculation
We clamp down ram_size to match the sclp increment size. We do
not do the same for maxram_size, which means for large guests
with some sizes (e.g. -m 50000) maxram_size differs from ram_size.
This can break other code (e.g. CMMA migration) which uses maxram_size
to calculate the number of pages and then throws some errors.

17f4566657 s390x/storage attributes: fix CMMA_BLOCK_SIZE usage
The macro CMMA_BLOCK_SIZE was defined but not used, and a hardcoded
value was instead used in the code.

This patch fixes the value of CMMA_BLOCK_SIZE and uses it in the
appropriate place in the code, and fixes another case of hardcoded
value in the KVM backend, replacing it with the more appropriate
constant KVM_S390_CMMA_SIZE_MAX.

7de3b1cdc6 s390x/tcg: properly implement the TOD
Right now, each CPU has its own TOD. Especially, the TOD will differ
based on creation time of a CPU - e.g. when hotplugging a CPU the times
will differ quite a lot, resulting in stall warnings in the guest.

Let's use a single TOD by implementing our new TOD device. Prepare it
for TOD-clock epoch extension.

Most importantly, whenever we set the TOD, we have to update the CKC
timer.

Introduce "tcg_s390x.h" just like "kvm_s390x.h" for tcg specific
function declarations that should not go into cpu.h.

8727315111 s390x/cpumodel: default enable bpb and ppa15 for z196 and later
Most systems and host kernels provide the necessary building blocks for
bpb and ppa15. We can reverse the logic and default enable those
features, while still allowing to disable it via cpu model.

So let us add bpb and ppa15 to z196 and later default CPU model for the
qemu 3.0 machine. (like -cpu z13).  Older machine types (e.g.
s390-ccw-virtio-2.12) will retain the old value and not provide those
bits in the default model.

0f0f8b611e loader: Check access size when calling rom_ptr() to avoid crashes
The rom_ptr() function allows direct access to the ROM blobs that we
load during startup. However, there are currently no checks for the
size of the accesses, so it's currently possible to crash QEMU for
example with:

We need a possibility to check the size of the ROM area that we want
to access, thus let's add a size parameter to the rom_ptr() function
to avoid these problems.

76ed4b18de s390/ipl: fix ipl with -no-reboot
kexec/kdump as well as the bootloader use a subcode of diagnose 308
that is supposed to reset the I/O subsystem but not comprise a full
"reboot". With the latest refactoring this is now broken when
-no-reboot is used or when libvirt acts on a reboot QMP event, for
example a virt-install from iso images.

We need to mark these "subsystem resets" as special.

acd7ef837d s390x/ipl: Try to detect Linux vs non Linux for initial IPL PSW
Right now the IPL device always starts from address 0x10000 (the usual
Linux entry point). To run other guests (e.g. test programs) it is
useful to use the IPL PSW from address 0. We can use the Linux magic
at 0x10008 to decide.

ea2dd691e2 vfio-ccw: remove orb.c64 (64 bit data addresses) check
The vfio-ccw module does the check too, and there is actually no
technical obstacle for supporting fmt 1 idaws. Let us be ready for the
beautiful day when fmt 1 idaws become supported by the vfio-ccw kernel
module. QEMU does not have to do a thing for that, except not insisting
on this check.

9a51c9ee6c vfio-ccw: add force unlimited prefetch property
There is at least one guest (OS) such that although it does not rely on
the guarantees provided by ORB 1 word 9 bit (aka unlimited prefetch, aka
P bit) not being set, it fails to tell this to the machine.

Usually this ain't a big deal, as the original purpose of the P bit is to
allow for performance optimizations. vfio-ccw however can not provide the
guarantees required if the bit is not set.

It is not possible to implement support for the P bit not set without
transitioning to lower level protocols for vfio-ccw.  So let's give the
user the opportunity to force setting the P bit, if the user knows this
is safe.  For self modifying channel programs forcing the P bit is not
safe.  If the P bit is forced for a self modifying channel program things
are expected to break in strange ways.

Let's also avoid warning multiple about P bit not set in the ORB in case
P bit is not told to be forced, and designate the affected vfio-ccw
device.

cb1efcf462 iommu: Add IOMMU index argument to notifier APIs
Add support for multiple IOMMU indexes to the IOMMU notifier APIs.
When initializing a notifier with iommu_notifier_init(), the caller
must pass the IOMMU index that it is interested in. When a change
happens, the IOMMU implementation must pass
memory_region_notify_iommu() the IOMMU index that has changed and
that notifiers must be called for.

IOMMUs which support only a single index don't need to change.
Callers which only really support working with IOMMUs with a single
index can use the result of passing MEMTXATTRS_UNSPECIFIED to
memory_region_iommu_attrs_to_index().

6d7b9a6c3b Make memory_region_access_valid() take a MemTxAttrs argument
As part of plumbing MemTxAttrs down to the IOMMU translate method,
add MemTxAttrs as an argument to memory_region_access_valid().
Its callers either have an attrs value to hand, or don't care
and can use MEMTXATTRS_UNSPECIFIED.

The callsite in flatview_access_valid() is part of a recursive
loop flatview_access_valid() -> memory_region_access_valid() ->
 subpage_accepts() -> flatview_access_valid(); we make it pass
MEMTXATTRS_UNSPECIFIED for now, until the next several commits
have plumbed an attrs parameter through the rest of the loop
and we can add an attrs parameter to flatview_access_valid().

a30fb811cb s390x: refactor reset/reipl handling
Calling pause_all_vcpus()/resume_all_vcpus() from a VCPU thread might
not be the best idea. As pause_all_vcpus() temporarily drops the qemu
mutex, two parallel calls to pause_all_vcpus() can be active at a time,
resulting in a deadlock. (either by two VCPUs or by the main thread and a
VCPU)

Let's handle it via the main loop instead, as suggested by Paolo. If we
would have two parallel reset requests by two different VCPUs at the
same time, the last one would win.

We use the existing ipl device to handle it. The nice side effect is
that we can get rid of reipl_requested.

This change implies that all reset handling now goes via the common
path, so "no-reboot" handling is now active for all kinds of reboots.

Let's execute any CPU initialization code on the target CPU using
run_on_cpu.

Thomas reported that the subchannel for a  3270 device that ended up
in a broken state (status pending even though not enabled) did not
get out of that state even after a reboot (which involves a subsytem
reset). The reason for this is that the 3270 device did not define
a reset handler.

Let's fix this by introducing a base reset handler (set up for all
ccw devices) that resets the subchannel and have virtio-ccw call
its virtio-specific reset procedure in addition to that.

6e9c893ecd s390x/css: disabled subchannels cannot be status pending
The 3270 code will try to post an attention interrupt when the
3270 emulator (e.g. x3270) attaches. If the guest has not yet
enabled the subchannel for the 3270 device, we will present a spurious
cc 1 (status pending) when it uses msch on it later on, e.g. when
trying to enable the subchannel.

To fix this, just don't do anything in css_conditional_io_interrupt()
if the subchannel is not enabled. The 3270 code will work fine with
that, and the other user of this function (virtio-ccw) never
attempts to post an interrupt for a disabled device to begin with.

052888f043 hw/s390x: Allow to configure the consoles with the "-serial" parameter
The consoles ("sclpconsole" and "sclplmconsole") can only be configured
with "-device" and "-chardev" so far. Other machines use the convenience
option "-serial" to configure the default consoles, even for virtual
consoles like spapr-vty on the pseries machine. So let's support this
option on s390x, too. This way we can easily enable the serial console
here again with "-nodefaults", for example:

qemu-system-s390x -no-shutdown -nographic -nodefaults -serial mon:stdio

... which is way shorter than typing:

qemu-system-s390x -no-shutdown -nographic -nodefaults \
  -chardev stdio,id=c1,mux=on -device sclpconsole,chardev=c1 \
  -mon chardev=c1

The -serial parameter can also be used if you only want to see the QEMU
monitor on stdio without using -nodefaults, but not the console output.
That's something that is pretty impossible with the current code today:

qemu-system-s390x -no-shutdown -nographic -serial none

While we're at it, this patch also maps the second -serial option to the
"sclplmconsole", so that there is now an easy way to configure this second
console on s390x, too, for example:

qemu-system-s390x -no-shutdown -nographic -serial null -serial mon:stdio

Additionally, the new code is also smaller than the old one and we have
less s390x-specific code in vl.c :-)

I've also checked that migration still works as expected by migrating
a guest with console output back and forth between a qemu-system-s390x
that has this patch and an instance without this patch.

789b5a401b s390: Ensure IPL from SCSI works as expected
Operating systems may request an IPL from a virtio-scsi device
by specifying an IPL parameter type of CCW. In this case QEMU
won't set up the IPLB correctly. The BIOS will still detect
it's a SCSI device to boot from, but it will now have to search
for the first LUN and attempt to boot from there.
However this may not be the original boot LUN if there's more than
one SCSI disk attached to the HBA.

With this change QEMU will detect that the request is for a
SCSI device and will rebuild the initial IPL parameter info
if it's the SCSI device used for the first boot. In consequence
the BIOS can use the boot LUN from the IPL information block.

In case a different SCSI device has been set, the BIOS will find
and use the first available LUN.

bc61c8c626 s390x/sclp: proper support of larger send and receive masks
Until 67915de9f0 ("s390x/event-facility: variable-length event masks")
we only supported sclp event masks with a size of exactly 4 bytes, even
though the architecture allows the guests to set up sclp event masks
from 1 to 1021 bytes in length.
After that patch, the behaviour was almost compliant, but some issues
were still remaining, in particular regarding the handling of selective
reads and migration.

When setting the sclp event mask, a mask size is also specified. Until
now we only considered the size in order to decide which bits to save
in the internal state. On the other hand, when a guest performs a
selective read, it sends a mask, but it does not specify a size; the
implied size is the size of the last mask that has been set.

Specifying bits in the mask of selective read that are not available in
the internal mask should return an error, and bits past the end of the
mask should obviously be ignored. This can only be achieved by keeping
track of the lenght of the mask.

The mask length is thus now part of the internal state that needs to be
migrated.

This patch fixes the handling of selective reads, whose size will now
match the length of the event mask, as per architecture.

While the default behaviour is to be compliant with the architecture,
when using older machine models the old broken behaviour is selected
(allowing only masks of size exactly 4), in order to be able to migrate
toward older versions.

Right now it is possible to crash QEMU for s390x by providing e.g.
    -numa node,nodeid=0,cpus=0-1

Problem is, that numa.c uses mc->cpu_index_to_instance_props as an
indicator whether NUMA is supported by a machine type. We don't
implement NUMA for s390x ("topology") yet. However we need
mc->cpu_index_to_instance_props for query-cpus.

So let's fix this case by also checking for mc->get_default_cpu_node_id,
which will be needed by machine_set_cpu_numa_node().

qemu-system-s390x: -numa node,nodeid=0,cpus=0-1: NUMA is not supported by
                   this machine-type

While at it, make s390_cpu_index_to_props() look like on other
architectures.

3c4e9baacf hw/s390x: Add the possibility to specify the netboot image on the command line
The file name of the netboot binary is currently hard-coded to
"s390-netboot.img", without a possibility for the user to select
an alternative firmware image here. That's unfortunate, especially
since the basics are already there: The filename is a property of
the s390-ipl device. So we just have to add a check whether the user
already provided the property and only set the default if the string
is still empty. Now it is possible to select a different firmware
image with "-global s390-ipl.netboot_fw=/path/to/s390-netboot.img".

It is possible that certain QEMU configurations may not
create an IPLB (such as when -kernel is provided). In
this case, a misleading error message will be printed
stating that the "boot menu is not supported for this
device type".

To amend this, only print this message iff boot menu=on
was provided on the commandline. Otherwise, return silently.

While we're at it, remove trailing periods from error
messages.

c575fa678b hw/s390x/ipl: Bail out if the network bootloader can not be found
If QEMU fails to load 's390-netboot.img', the guest firmware currently
loops forever and just floods the console with "Network boot device
detected" messages. The code in ipl.c apparently already tried to stop
the VM with vm_stop() in this case, but this is in vain since the run
state is later reset due to a call to vm_start() from vl.c again.
To avoid the ugly firmware loop, let's simply exit QEMU directly instead
since it just does not make sense to continue if the required firmware
image can not be loaded. While we're at it, also add the file name of
the netboot binary to the error message, so that the user has a better
hint about what is missing.

The previous commit improved compile time by including less of the
generated QAPI headers.  This is impossible for stuff defined directly
in qapi-schema.json, because that ends up in headers that that pull in
everything.

Move everything but include directives from qapi-schema.json to new
sub-module qapi/misc.json, then include just the "misc" shard where
possible.

It's possible everywhere, except:

* monitor.c needs qmp-command.h to get qmp_init_marshal()

* monitor.c, ui/vnc.c and the generated qapi-event-FOO.c need
  qapi-event.h to get enum QAPIEvent

Perhaps we'll get rid of those some other day.

Adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 120 instead
of 2300 out of 5100 objects.

From an architecture point of view, nothing can be mapped into the address
space on s390x. All there is is memory. Therefore there is also not really
an interface to communicate such information to the guest. All we can do is
specify the maximum ram address and guests can probe in that range if
memory is available and usable (TPROT).

Also memory hotplug is strange. The guest can decide at some point in
time to add / remove memory in some range. While the hypervisor can deny
to online an increment, all increments have to be predefined and there is
no way of telling the guest about a newly "hotplugged" increment. So if we
specify right now e.g.
    -m 2G,slots=2,maxmem=20G
An ordinary fedora guest will happily online (hotplug) all memory,
resulting in a guest consuming 20G. So it really behaves rather like
    -m 22G
There is no way to hotplug memory from the outside like on other
architectures. This is of course bad for upper management layers.

As the guest can create/delete memory regions while it is running, of
course migration support is not available and tricky to implement.

With virtualization, it is different. We might want to map something
into guest address space (e.g. fake DAX devices) and not detect it
automatically as memory. So we really want to use the maxmem and slots
parameter just like on all other architectures. Such devices will have
to expose the applicable memory range themselves. To finally be able to
provide memory hotplug to guests, we will need a new paravirtualized
interface to do that (e.g. something into the direction of virtio-mem).

This implies, that maxmem cannot be used for s390x memory hotplug
anymore and has to go. This simplifies the code quite a bit.

As migration support is not working, this change cannot really break
migration as guests without slots and maxmem don't see the SCLP
features. Also, the ram size calculation does not change.

9d0306dfdf qmp: expose s390-specific CPU info
Presently s390x is the only architecture not exposing specific
CPU information via QMP query-cpus. Upstream discussion has shown
that it could make sense to report the architecture specific CPU
state, e.g. to detect that a CPU has been stopped.

With this change the output of query-cpus will look like this on
s390:

53b310ce53 s390-ccw: use zipl values when no boot menu options are present
If no boot menu options are present, then flag the boot menu to
use the zipl options that were set in the zipl configuration file
(and stored on disk by zipl). These options are found at some
offset prior to the start of the zipl boot menu banner. The zipl
timeout value is limited to a 16-bit unsigned integer and stored
as seconds, so we take care to convert it to milliseconds in order
to conform to the rest of the boot menu functionality. This is
limited to CCW devices.

For reference, the zipl configuration file uses the following
fields in the menu section:

      prompt=1      enable the boot menu
      timeout=X     set the timeout to X seconds

To explicitly disregard any boot menu options, then menu=off or
<bootmenu enable='no' ... /> must be specified.

Set boot menu options for an s390 guest and store them in
the iplb. These options are set via the QEMU command line
option:

    -boot menu=on|off[,splash-time=X]

or via the libvirt domain xml:

    </os>

Where X represents some positive integer representing
milliseconds.

Any value set for loadparm will override all boot menu options.
If loadparm=PROMPT, then the menu will be enabled without a
timeout.

118ee80f79 s390-ccw: move auxiliary IPL data to separate location
The s390-ccw firmware needs some information in support of the
boot process which is not available on the native machine.
Examples are the netboot firmware load address and now the
boot menu parameters.

While storing that data in unused fields of the IPL parameter block
works, that approach could create problems if the parameter block
definition should change in the future. Because then a guest could
overwrite these fields using the set IPLB diagnose.

In fact the data in question is of more global nature and not really
tied to an IPL device, so separating it is rather logical.

This commit introduces a new structure to hold firmware relevant
IPL parameters set by QEMU. The data is stored at location 204 (dec)
and can contain up to 7 32-bit words. This area is available to
programming in the z/Architecture Principles of Operation and
can thus safely be used by the firmware until the IPL has completed.

b3f05d8c7f s390x/pci: fixup global refresh
The VFIO common code doesn't provide the possibility to modify a
previous mapping entry in another way than unmapping and mapping again
with new properties.

To avoid -EEXIST DMA mapping error, we introduce a GHashTable to store
S390IOTLBEntry instances in order to cache the mapped entries. When
intercepting rpcit instruction, ignore the identical mapped entries to
avoid doing map operations multiple times and do unmap and re-map
operations for the case of updating the valid entries.

Current s390x PCI IOMMU code is lack of flags' checking, including:
1) protection bit
2) table length
3) table offset
4) intermediate tables' invalid bit
5) format control bit

This patch introduces a new struct named S390IOTLBEntry, and makes up
these missed checkings. At the same time, inform the guest with the
corresponding error number when the check fails. Finally, in order to
get the error number, we export s390_guest_io_table_walk().

46fa893355 s390x: fix storage attributes migration for non-small guests
Fix storage attribute migration so that it does not fail for guests
with more than a few GB of RAM.
With such guests, the index in the buffer would go out of bounds,
usually by large amounts, thus receiving -EFAULT from the kernel.
Migration itself would be successful, but storage attributes would then
not be migrated completely.

This patch fixes the out of bounds access, and thus migration of all
storage attributes when the guest have large amounts of memory.

Linux crashes right now if maxmem > mem is specified on the command line.

On s390x, the guest can hotplug memory itself right now - very weird -
and e.g. Fedora 27 will simply add all memory it can when booting.

d342eb7662 possible_cpus: add CPUArchId::type field
Remove dependency of possible_cpus on 1st CPU instance,
which decouples configuration data from CPU instances that
are created using that data.

Also later it would be used for enabling early cpu to numa node
configuration at runtime qmp_query_hotpluggable_cpus() should
provide a list of available cpu slots at early stage,
before machine_init() is called and the 1st cpu is created,
so that mgmt might be able to call it and use output to set
numa mapping.

Use MachineClass::possible_cpu_arch_ids() callback to set
cpu type info, along with the rest of possible cpu properties,
to let machine define which cpu type* will be used.

* for SPAPR it will be a spapr core type and for ARM/s390x/x86
  a respective descendant of CPUClass.

Move parse_numa_opts() in vl.c after cpu_model is parsed into
cpu_type so that possible_cpu_arch_ids() would know which
cpu_type to use during layout initialization.

KVM does not allow memory regions > KVM_MEM_MAX_NR_PAGES, basically
limiting the memory per slot to 8TB-4k. As memory slots on s390/kvm must
be a multiple of 1MB we need start a new memory region if we cross
8TB-1M.

With that (and optimistic overcommitment in the kernel) I was able to
start a 24TB guest on a 1TB system.

99577c492f s390x/css: unrestrict cssids
The default css 0xfe is currently restricted to virtual subchannel
devices. The hope when the decision was made was, that non-virtual
subchannel devices will come around when guest can exploit multiple
channel subsystems. Since the guests generally don't do, the pain
of the partitioned (cssid) namespace outweighs the gain.

Let us remove the corresponding restrictions (virtual devices
can be put only in 0xfe and non-virtual devices in any css except
the 0xfe -- while s390-squash-mcss then remaps everything to cssid 0).

At the same time, change our schema for generating css bus ids to put
both virtual and non-virtual devices into the default css (spilling over
into other css images, if needed). The intention is to deprecate
s390-squash-mcss. With this change devices without a specified devno
won't end up hidden to guests not supporting multiple channel subsystems,
unless this can not be avoided (default css full).

Let us also advertise the changes to the management software (so it can
tell are cssids unrestricted or restricted).

The adverse effect of getting rid of the restriction on migration should
not be too severe.  Vfio-ccw devices are not live-migratable yet, and for
virtual devices using the extra freedom would only make sense with the
aforementioned guest support in place.

The auto-generated bus ids are affected by both changes. We hope to not
encounter any auto-generated bus ids in production as Libvirt is always
explicit about the bus id.  Since 8ed179c937 ("s390x/css: catch section
mismatch on load", 2017-05-18) the worst that can happen because the same
device ended up having a different bus id is a cleanly failed migration.
I find it hard to reason about the impact of changed auto-generated bus
ids on migration for command line users as I don't know which rules is
such an user supposed to follow.

Another pain-point is down- or upgrade of QEMU for command line users.
The old way and the new way of doing vfio-ccw are mutually incompatible.
Libvirt is only going to support the new way, so for libvirt users, the
possible problems at QEMU downgrade are the following. If a domain
contains virtual devices placed into a css different than 0xfe the domain
will refuse to start with a QEMU not having this patch. Putting devices
into a css different that 0xfe however won't make much sense in the near
future (guest support). Libvirt will refuse to do vfio-ccw with a QEMU
not having this patch. This is business as usual.

4f6482bfe3 s390x/pci: search for subregion inside the BARs
When dispatching memory access to PCI BAR region, we must
look for possible subregions, used by the PCI device to map
different memory areas inside the same PCI BAR.

Since the data offset we received is calculated starting at the
region start address we need to adjust the offset for the subregion.

The data offset inside the subregion is calculated by substracting
the subregion's starting address from the data offset in the region.

The access to the MSIX region is now handled in a generic way,
we do not need the specific trap_msix() function anymore.

c748814b20 s390x/pci: factor out endianess conversion
There are two places where the same endianness conversion
is done.
Let's factor this out into a static function.

Note that the conversion must always be done for data in a register:

The S390 BE guest converted date to le before issuing the instruction.

After interception in a BE host:
ZPCI VFIO using pwrite must make the conversion back for the BE kernel.
Kernel will do BE to le translation when loading the register for the
real instruction.

After interception in a le host:
TCG stores a BE register in le, swapping bytes.
But since the data in the register was already le it is now BE
ZPCI VFIO must convert it to le before writing to the PCI memory.

In both cases ZPCI VFIO must swap the bytes from the register.

98ee9bedc7 s390x: handle exceptions during s390_cpu_virt_mem_rw() correctly (TCG)
s390_cpu_virt_mem_rw() must always return, so callers can react on
an exception (e.g. see ioinst_handle_stcrw()).

However, for TCG we always have to exit the cpu loop (and restore the
cpu state before that) if we injected a program interrupt. So let's
introduce and use s390_cpu_virt_mem_handle_exc() in code that is not
purely KVM.

Directly pass the retaddr we already have available in these functions.

use of the passed address.

fd56e0612b pci: Eliminate redundant PCIDevice::bus pointer
The bus pointer in PCIDevice is basically redundant with QOM information.
It's always initialized to the qdev_get_parent_bus(), the only difference
is the type.

Therefore this patch eliminates the field, instead creating a pci_get_bus()
helper to do the type mangling to derive it conveniently from the QOM
Device object underneath.

1115ff6d26 pci: Rename root bus initialization functions for clarity
pci_bus_init(), pci_bus_new_inplace(), pci_bus_new() and pci_register_bus()
are misleadingly named.  They're not used for initializing *any* PCI bus,
but only for a root PCI bus.

Non-root buses - i.e. ones under a logical PCI to PCI bridge - are instead
created with a direct qbus_create_inplace() (see pci_bridge_initfn()).

This patch renames the functions to make it clear they're only used for
a root bus.

c1c4c2192c s390/kvm_virtio/linux-headers: remove traces of old virtio transport
We no longer support the old s390 transport, neither does the newest
Linux kernel. Remove it from the linux header script as well as the
s390x virtio code.  We still should handle the VIRTIO_NOTIFY hypercall,
to tolerate early printk on older guest kernels without an sclp console.
We continue to ignore these events.

2c28c49057 s390x/pci: let pci devices start in configured mode
Currently, to enable a pci device in the guest, the user has to issue
echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/slots/00000000/power. This is not what people
expect. On an LPAR, the user can put a PCI device in configured or
deconfigured state via IOCDS. The "start in deconfigured state" can be
used for "sharing" a pci function across LPARs. This is not what we are
going to use in KVM, so always start configured.

Starting a guest with

on an IBM z14 results in

"qemu-system-s390x: Some features requested in the CPU model are not
available in the configuration: gs"

This is because guarded storage is fenced for compat machines that did
not have guarded storage support. While this prevents future migration
abort (by not starting the guest at all), not being able to start a
"host-model" guest is very much unexpected.  As it turns out, even if we
would modify libvirt to not expand the cpu model to contain "gs" for
compat machines, it cannot guarantee that a migration will succeed. For
example if the kernel changes its features (or the user has nested=1 on
one host but not on the other) the migration will fail nevertheless.  So
instead of fencing "gs" for machines <= 2.9 lets allow it for all
machine types that support the CPU model. This will make "host-model"
runnable all the time, while relying on the CPU model to reject invalid
migration attempts. We also need to change the migration for guarded
storage.
Additional discussions about host-model are still pending but are out
of scope of this patch.

66dc50f705 s390x: improve error handling for SSCH and RSCH
Simplify the error handling of the SSCH and RSCH handler avoiding
arbitrary and cryptic error codes being used to tell how the instruction
is supposed to end.  Let the code detecting the condition tell how it's
to be handled in a less ambiguous way.  It's best to handle SSCH and RSCH
in one go as the emulation of the two shares a lot of code.

For passthrough this change isn't pure refactoring, but changes the way
kernel reported EFAULT is handled. After clarifying the kernel interface
we decided that EFAULT shall be mapped to unit exception.  Same goes for
unexpected error codes and absence of required ORB flags.

The architecture supports masks of variable length for sclp write
event mask. We currently only support 4 byte event masks, as that
is what Linux uses.

Let's extend this to the maximum mask length supported by the

The "sclpquiesce" device is just an internal device that should not be
created by the user directly. Though it currently does not seem to cause
any obvious trouble when the user instantiates an additional device, let's
better mark it with user_creatable = false to avoid unexpected behavior,
e.g. because the quiesce notifier gets registered multiple times.

7aa4d85d29 s390x/sclp: mark sclp-cpu-hotplug as non-usercreatable
A TYPE_SCLP_CPU_HOTPLUG device for handling cpu hotplug events
is already created by the sclp event facility. Adding a second
TYPE_SCLP_CPU_HOTPLUG device via -device sclp-cpu-hotplug creates
an ambiguity in raise_irq_cpu_hotplug(), leading to a crash once
a cpu is hotplugged.

To fix this, disallow creating a sclp-cpu-hotplug device manually.

The "sclp" device is just an internal device that can not be instantiated
by the users. If they try to use it, they only get a simple error message:

$ qemu-system-s390x -nographic -device sclp
qemu-system-s390x: Option '-device s390-sclp-event-facility' cannot be
handled by this machine

Since sclp_init() tries to create a TYPE_SCLP_EVENT_FACILITY which is
a non-pluggable sysbus device, there is really no way that the "sclp"
device can be used by the user, so let's set the user_creatable = false
accordingly.

28f8dbe85d s390/kvm: make TOD setting failures fatal for migration
If we fail to set a proper TOD clock on the target system,  this can
already result in some problematic cases. We print several warn messages
on source and target in that case.

If kvm fails to set a nonzero epoch index, then we must ultimately fail
the migration as this will result in a giant time leap backwards. This
patch lets the migration fail if we can not set the guest time on the
target.

On failure the guest will resume normally on the original host machine.

489c909f09 s390x/css: fix css migration compat handling
Commit e996583eb3 ("s390x/css: activate ChannelSubSys migration",
2017-07-11) was supposed to enable css migration for virtio-ccw
machines starting 2.10, but it ended up effectively enabling it
only for 2.10 as the registration of the appropriate VMStateDescription
happens in ccw_machine_2_10_instance_options which does not get
called for machines more recent than 2_10.

Let us move the corresponding chunk of code (which conditionally enables
the migration based on the value of the corresponding class property) to
ccw_init, which is called for each virtio-ccw machine instance.

Let us convert the 3270 code so it uses the recently introduced
CcwDataStream abstraction instead of blindly assuming direct data access.

This patch does not change behavior beyond introducing IDA support: for

c1843e2092 Revert "s390x/ccw: create s390 phb conditionally"
This reverts commit d32bd032d8.

Turns out that old QEMUs always created a pci host bridge
and for many CPU models the migration from old QEMUs to new
QEMUs will fail with
qemu-system-s390x: Unknown savevm section or instance 'PCIBUS' 0
qemu-system-s390x: load of migration failed: Invalid argument

As a quick fix we will revert the commit and always create the
pci host bridge.

62a2554ec2 390x/css: introduce maximum data address checking
The architecture mandates the addresses to be accessed on the first
indirection level (that is, the data addresses without IDA, and the
(M)IDAW addresses with (M)IDA) to be checked against an CCW format
dependent limit maximum address.  If a violation is detected, the storage
access is not to be performed and a channel program check needs to be
generated. As of today, we fail to do this check.

Let us stick even closer to the architecture specification.

Changed zillions of devices to make them return 0; the only

5ef5475868 virtio-ccw: remove stale comments on endianness
We have two stale comments suggesting one should think about virtio
config space endianness a bit longer. We have just done that, and came to
the conclusion we are fine as is: it's the responsibility of the virtio
device and not of the transport (and that is how it works now). Putting
the responsibility into the transport isn't even possible, because the
transport would have to know about the config space layout of each
device.

Let us remove the stale comments.

ca5c1457d6 target/s390x: use "core-id" for cpu number/address/id handling
Some time ago we discussed that using "id" as property name is not the
right thing to do, as it is a reserved property for other devices and
will not work with device_add.

Switch to the term "core-id" instead, and use it as an equivalent to
"CPU address" mentioned in the PoP. There is no such thing as cpu number,
so rename env.cpu_num to env.core_id. We use "core-id" as this is the
common term to use for device_add later on (x86 and ppc).

We can get rid of cpu->id now. Keep cpu_index and env->core_id in sync.
cpu_index was already implicitly used by e.g. cpu_exists(), so keeping
both in sync seems to be the right thing to do.

cpu_index will now no longer automatically get set via
cpu_exec_realizefn(). For now, we were lucky that both implicitly stayed
in sync.

Our new cpu property "core-id" can be a static property. Range checks can
be avoided by using the correct type and the "setting after realized"
check is done implicitly.

device_add will later need the reserved "id" property. Hotplugging a CPU
on s390x will then be: "device_add host-s390-cpu,id=cpu2,core-id=2".

Specifying more than 1 CPU (e.g. -smp 5) leads to SIGP errors (the
guest tries to bring these CPUs up but fails), because we don't support
multiple CPUs on s390x under TCG.

Let's bail out if more than 1 is specified, so we don't raise people's
hope.

248b920df9 s390x/css: drop data-check in interpretation
The architecture says that channel-data check is indicating that
an uncorrected storage (memory) error has been detected in regard
to the data residing in main storage (memory) that is currently
used for an I/O operation. The described detection is done using
the CBC technology.

The ccw interpretation code is however generating a channel-data check
effectively when the (device specific) ccw_cb returns -EFAULT.  In case
of virtio-ccw devices this happens when mapping memory fails, or when a
NULL pointer is encountered. So this behavior is not architecture
conform.

Furthermore the best fit for these situations (null pointer, mapping a
piece of guest memory fails) from architectural perspective the condition
described as the channel subsystem refers to a location that is not
available, which when encountered shall result in a channel-program
check.

To fix this, all we have to do is to get rid of the switch case matching
-EFAULT: the default is generating a channel-program check.

6c5e740247 s390x/pci: add iommu replay callback
Let's introduce iommu replay callback for s390 pci iommu memory region.
Currently we don't need any dma mapping replay. So let it return
directly. This implementation will avoid meaningless loops calling
translation callback.

ceb7054fd4 s390x/pci: remove idx from msix msg data
PCIDevice pointer has been a parameter of kvm_arch_fixup_msi_route().
So we don't need to store zpci idx in msix message data to find out the
specific zpci device. Instead, we could use pci device id to find its
corresponding zpci device.

6c86462220 s390x/css: fix cc handling for XSCH
The function ioinst_handle_xsch is presenting cc 2 when it's supposed to
present cc 1 and the other way around, because css_do_xsch has the error
codes mixed up. Because cc 1 has precedence over cc 2 we also have to
swap the two checks.

Let us fix this.

8297be80f7 Convert multi-line fprintf() to warn_report()
Convert all the multi-line uses of fprintf(stderr, "warning:"..."\n"...
to use warn_report() instead. This helps standardise on a single
method of printing warnings to the user.

All of the warnings were changed using these commands:

Indentation fixed up manually afterwards.

Some of the lines were manually edited to reduce the line length to below
80 charecters. Some of the lines with newlines in the middle of the
string were also manually edit to avoid checkpatch errrors.

The #include lines were manually updated to allow the code to compile.

Several of the warning messages can be improved after this patch, to
keep this patch mechanical this has been moved into a later patch.

2f21b8d431 s390x/pci: fixup trap_msix()
The function trap_msix() is to check if pcistg instruction would access
msix table entries. The correct boundary condition should be
[table_offset, table_offset+entries*entry_size). But the current
condition calculated misses the last entry. So let's fixup it.

f16bbb9bbd s390x/kvm: move KVM declarations and stubs to separate files
Let's do it just like the other architectures. Introduce kvm-stub.c
for stubs and kvm_s390x.h for the declarations.

Change license to GPL2+ and keep copyright notice.

As we are dropping the sysemu/kvm.h include from cpu.h, fix up includes.
