7d37435bd5 avoid TABs in files that only contain a few
Most files that have TABs only contain a handful of them. Change
them to spaces so that we don't confuse people.

disas, standard-headers, linux-headers and libdecnumber are imported
from other projects and probably should be exempted from the check.
Outside those, after this patch the following files still contain both
8-space and TAB sequences at the beginning of the line. Many of them
have a majority of TABs, or were initially committed with all tabs.

317639aafd vmxnet3: Move some definitions to header file
pvrdma setup requires vmxnet3 device on PCI function 0 and PVRDMA device
on PCI function 1.
pvrdma device needs to access vmxnet3 device object for several reasons:
1. Make sure PCI function 0 is vmxnet3.
2. To monitor vmxnet3 device state.
3. To configure node_guid accoring to vmxnet3 device's MAC address.

To be able to access vmxnet3 device the definition of VMXNET3State is
moved to a new header file.

fd56e0612b pci: Eliminate redundant PCIDevice::bus pointer
The bus pointer in PCIDevice is basically redundant with QOM information.
It's always initialized to the qdev_get_parent_bus(), the only difference
is the type.

Therefore this patch eliminates the field, instead creating a pci_get_bus()
helper to do the type mangling to derive it conveniently from the QOM
Device object underneath.

c527e0afcd hw/net/vmxnet3: Fix code to work on big endian hosts, too
Since commit ab06ec4357 we test the vmxnet3 device in the
pxe-tester, too (when running "make check SPEED=slow"). This now
revealed that the code is not working there if the host is a big
endian machine (for example ppc64 or s390x) - "make check SPEED=slow"
is now failing on such hosts.

The vmxnet3 code lacks endianness conversions in a couple of places.
Interestingly, the bitfields in the structs in vmxnet3.h already tried to
take care of the *bit* endianness of the C compilers - but the code missed
to change the *byte* endianness when reading or writing the corresponding
structs. So the bitfields are now wrapped into unions which allow to change
the byte endianness during runtime with the non-bitfield member of the union.
With these changes, "make check SPEED=slow" now properly works on big endian
hosts, too.

0dacea92d2 net: Transmit zero UDP checksum as 0xFFFF
The checksum algorithm used by IPv4, TCP and UDP allows a zero value
to be represented by either 0x0000 and 0xFFFF. But per RFC 768, a zero
UDP checksum must be transmitted as 0xFFFF because 0x0000 is a special
value meaning no checksum.

Substitute 0xFFFF whenever a checksum is computed as zero when
modifying a UDP datagram header. Doing this on IPv4 and TCP checksums
is unnecessary but legal. Add a wrapper for net_checksum_finish() that
makes the substitution.

(We can't just change net_checksum_finish(), as that function is also
used by receivers to verify checksums, and in that case the expected
value is always 0x0000.)

44b1ff319c migration: pre_save return int
Modify the pre_save method on VMStateDescription to return an int
rather than void so that it potentially can fail.

Changed zillions of devices to make them return 0; the only
case I've made it return non-0 is hw/intc/s390_flic_kvm.c that already
had an error_report/return case.

Note: If you add an error exit in your pre_save you must emit

59046ec29a migration: consolidate VMStateField.start
The member VMStateField.start is used for two things, partial data
migration for VBUFFER data (basically provide migration for a
sub-buffer) and for locating next in QTAILQ.

The implementation of the VBUFFER feature is broken when VMSTATE_ALLOC
is used. This however goes unnoticed because actually partial migration
for VBUFFER is not used at all.

Let's consolidate the usage of VMStateField.start by removing support
for partial migration for VBUFFER.

For some devices(like e1000e, vmxnet3, nvme) who won't fail because of

Bonus: add comment for msix_init.

20daa90a20 PCI/migration merge vmstate_pci_device and vmstate_pcie_device
The vmstate_pci_device and vmstate_pcie_devices differ
just in the size of one buffer; combine the two using a _TEST
macro.

I think this is safe as long as everywhere which currently
uses either of these two uses the right type.

One thing that concerns me is that some places use pci_device_load/save
which does some irq mangling, but others just use the VMSTATE_PCI_DEVICE
macro - how are they getting the same irq mangling?

This passes a smoke test migrate of:

f394b2e20d qapi: Change Netdev into a flat union
This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat
union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the
former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are
now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated
from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no
change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and
will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP
command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but
it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with
the new types.

While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type
remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options,
and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper
around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named
'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions'
in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to
Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack
only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since
the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit
that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union.

msi_init() reports errors with error_report(), which is wrong
when it's used in realize().

Fix by converting it to Error.

Fix its callers to handle failure instead of ignoring it.

For those callers who don't handle the failure, it might happen:
when user want msi on, but he doesn't get what he want because of
msi_init fails silently.

c508277335 vmxnet3: Fix reading/writing guest memory specially when behind an IOMMU
When a PCI device lives behind an IOMMU, it should use 'pci_dma_*' family of
functions when any transfer from/to guest memory is required while
'cpu_physical_memory_*' family of functions completely bypass any MMU/IOMMU in
the system.

vmxnet3 in some places was using 'cpu_physical_memory_*' family of functions
which works fine with the default QEMU setup where IOMMU is not enabled but
fails miserably when IOMMU is enabled. This commit converts all such instances
in favor of 'pci_dma_*'

605d52e62f net_pkt: Name vmxnet3 packet abstractions more generic
This patch drops "vmx" prefix from packet abstractions names
to emphasize the fact they are generic and not tied to any

vmxnet3 always produces a warning under qtest.

This is not a user error, don't warn.

eedeeeffd4 vmxnet3: Do not fill stats if device is inactive
Guest OS may issue VMXNET3_CMD_GET_STATS even before device was
activated (for example in linux, after insmod but prior net-dev open).

Accessing shared descriptors prior device activation is illegal as the
VMXNET3State structures have not been fully initialized.

As a result, guest memory gets corrupted and may lead to guest OS
crashes.

Fix, by not filling the stats descriptors if device is inactive.
