Kevin Wolf a283cb6e58 qemu-img: Allow -o help with incomplete argument list
This patch allows using 'qemu-img $subcmd -o help' for the create,
convert and amend subcommands, without specifying the previously
required filename arguments.

Note that it's still allowed and meaningful to specify a filename: An
invocation like 'qemu-img create -o help sheepdog:foo' will also display
options that are provided by the Sheepdog driver.

Peter Lieven 13c28af87a qemu-img: add support for skipping zeroes in input during convert
we currently do not check if a sector is allocated during convert.
This means if a sector is unallocated that we allocate a bounce
buffer of zeroes, find out its zero later and do not write it
in the best case. In the worst case this can lead to reading
blocks from a raw device (like iSCSI) altough we could easily
know via get_block_status that they are zero and simply skip them.

This patch also fixes the progress output not being at 100% after

We were lucky to pass qemu-iotests 048 (qemu-img compare case) but when

In the first if branch, setting ret to 1 before using it makes dead code
in the next line: pnum is never added to mismatch offset even if ret was

Wenchao Xia a89d89d3e6 snapshot: distinguish id and name in snapshot delete
Snapshot creation actually already distinguish id and name since it take
a structured parameter *sn, but delete can't. Later an accurate delete
is needed in qmp_transaction abort and blockdev-snapshot-delete-sync,
so change its prototype. Also *errp is added to tip error, but return
value is kepted to let caller check what kind of error happens. Existing
caller for it are savevm, delvm and qemu-img, they are not impacted by
introducing a new function bdrv_snapshot_delete_by_id_or_name(), which
check the return value and do the operation again.

Before this patch:
For qcow2, it search id first then name to find the one to delete.
  For rbd, it search name.
  For sheepdog, it does nothing.

After this patch:
For qcow2, logic is the same by call it twice in caller.
For rbd, it always fails in delete with id, but still search for name
in second try, no change to user.

Some code for *errp is based on Pavel's patch.

Paolo Bonzini e4a86f88cc qemu-img: always probe the input image for allocated sectors
qemu-img convert can assume "that sectors which are unallocated in the
input image are present in both the output's and input's base images".

However it is only doing this if the output image returns true for
bdrv_has_zero_init(). Testing bdrv_has_zero_init() does not make much
sense if the output image is copy-on-write, because a copy-on-write
image is never initialized to zero (it is initialized to the content
of the backing file).

There is nothing here that makes has_zero_init images special. The
input and output must be equal for the operation to make sense, and
that's it.

Stefan Hajnoczi 058f8f16db block: add BLOCK_O_CHECK for qemu-img check
Image formats with a dirty bit, like qed and qcow2, repair dirty image
files upon open with BDRV_O_RDWR. Performing automatic repair when
qemu-img check runs is not ideal because the bdrv_open() call repairs
the image before the actual bdrv_check() call from qemu-img.c.

Fix this "double repair" since it leads to confusing output from
qemu-img check. Tell the block driver that this image is being opened
just for bdrv_check(). This skips automatic repair and qemu-img.c can
invoke it manually with bdrv_check().

Update the golden output for qemu-iotests 039 to reflect the new
qemu-img check output.

Peter Maydell c8057f951d Support 'help' as a synonym for '?' in command line options
For command line options which permit '?' meaning 'please list the
permitted values', add support for 'help' as a synonym, by abstracting
the check out into a helper function.

This change means that in some cases where we were being lazy in
our string parsing, "?junk" will now be rejected as an invalid option
rather than being (undocumentedly) treated the same way as "?".

Update the documentation to use 'help' rather than '?', since '?'
is a shell metacharacter and thus prone to fail confusingly if there
is a single character filename in the current working directory and
the '?' has not been escaped. It's therefore better to steer users
towards 'help', though '?' is retained for backwards compatibility.

We do not, however, update the output of the system emulator's -help
(or any documentation autogenerated from the qemu-options.hx which
is the source of the -help text) because libvirt parses our -help
output and will break. At a later date when QEMU provides a better
interface so libvirt can avoid having to do this, we can update the
-help text too.

Kevin Wolf e80fec7feb qemu-img resize: Fix option parsing
For shrinking images, you're supposed to use a negative size. However, the
leading minus makes getopt think that it's an option and so you get the help
text if you don't use -- like in 'qemu-img resize test.img -- -1G'.

This patch handles the size first and removes it from the argument list so that
getopt won't even try to interpret it and you don't need -- any more.

Anthony Liguori 9a9d9dba3e qemu-img: allow rebase to a NULL backing file when unsafe
QEMU can drop a backing file so that an image file no longer depends on
the backing file, but this feature has not been exposed in qemu-img.
This is useful in an image streaming usecase or when an image file has
been fully allocated and no reads can hit the backing file anymore.

Since the dropping the backing file can make the image unusable, only
allow this when the unsafe flag has been set.
