When trying to remove the -usbdevice option, there were complaints that
"-usbdevice braille" is still a very useful shortcut for some people.
Thus we never remove this option. Since it's not such a big burden to
keep it around, and it's also convenient in the sense that you don't
have to worry to enable a host controller explicitly with this option,
we should remove it from he deprecation list again.
However, there is one exception: "-usbdevice audio" should go away, since
audio devices without "audiodev=..." parameter are also on the deprecation
list and you cannot use "-usbdevice audio" with "audiodev".

In order to keep track of the alternate setting that should be used for
a given interface, the USBDevice struct keeps an array of alternate
setting values, which is indexed by the interface number. In
usb_host_set_interface, when this array is updated, usb_host_ep_update
is called as a result. However, when usb_host_ep_update accesses the
active libusb_config_descriptor, it indexes udev->altsetting with the
loop variable, rather than the interface number.
With the simple trace backend enable, this behavior can be seen:
[...]
usb_xhci_xfer_start 0.440 pid=1215 xfer=0x5596a4b85930 slotid=0x1 epid=0x1 streamid=0x0
usb_packet_state_change 1.703 pid=1215 bus=0x1 port=b'1' ep=0x0 p=0x5596a4b85938 o=b'undef' n=b'setup'
usb_host_req_control 2.269 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 p=0x5596a4b85938 req=0x10b value=0x1 index=0xd
usb_host_set_interface 0.449 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 interface=0xd alt=0x1
usb_host_parse_config 2542.648 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 value=0x2 active=0x1
usb_host_parse_interface 1.804 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 num=0xc alt=0x0 active=0x1
usb_host_parse_endpoint 2.012 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 ep=0x2 dir=b'in' type=b'int' active=0x1
usb_host_parse_interface 1.598 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 num=0xd alt=0x0 active=0x1
usb_host_req_emulated 3.593 pid=1215 bus=0x1 addr=0x5 p=0x5596a4b85938 status=0x0
usb_packet_state_change 2.550 pid=1215 bus=0x1 port=b'1' ep=0x0 p=0x5596a4b85938 o=b'setup' n=b'complete'
usb_xhci_xfer_success 4.298 pid=1215 xfer=0x5596a4b85930 bytes=0x0
[...]
In particular, it is seen that although usb_host_set_interface sets the
alternate setting of interface 0xd to 0x1, usb_host_ep_update uses 0x0
as the alternate setting due to using the incorrect index to
udev->altsetting.
Fix this problem by getting the interface number from the active
libusb_config_descriptor, and then using that as the index to
udev->altsetting.

Currently, blk_is_read_only() tells whether a given BlockBackend can
only be used in read-only mode because its root node is read-only. Some
callers actually try to answer a slightly different question: Is the
BlockBackend configured to be writable, by taking write permissions on
the root node?
This can differ, for example, for CD-ROM devices which don't take write
permissions, but may be backed by a writable image file. scsi-cd allows
write requests to the drive if blk_is_read_only() returns false.
However, the write request will immediately run into an assertion
failure because the write permission is missing.
This patch introduces separate functions for both questions.
blk_supports_write_perm() answers the question whether the block
node/image file can support writable devices, whereas blk_is_writable()
tells whether the BlockBackend is currently configured to be writable.
All calls of blk_is_read_only() are converted to one of the two new
functions.

Commit 8118f0950f "migration: Append JSON description of migration
stream" needs a JSON writer. The existing qobject_to_json() wasn't a
good fit, because it requires building a QObject to convert. Instead,
migration got its very own JSON writer, in commit 190c882ce2 "QJSON:
Add JSON writer". It tacitly limits numbers to int64_t, and strings
contents to characters that don't need escaping, unlike
qobject_to_json().
The previous commit factored the JSON writer out of qobject_to_json().
Replace migration's JSON writer by it.

Remove the "default y" for USB_XHCI_SYSBUS because
sysbus devices are not user creatable; boards that use them will
specify them manually with "imply" or "select" clauses.
It would be nice to keep the ability to remove PCIe and USB from microvm,
since thos can be disabled on the command line and therefore should not
be included if QEMU is configured --without-default-devices. However
it's too late for 5.2 to figure out a place for the DSDT creation code.

Some operating systems will generate a new device ID when a USB device is unplugged
and then replugged into the USB. If this is done whilst switching between multiple
applications over a virtual serial port, the change of device ID requires going
back into the OS/application to locate the new device accordingly.
Add a new always-plugged property that if specified will ensure that the device
always remains attached to the USB regardless of the state of the backend

The NPCM730 and NPCM750 chips have a single USB host port shared between
a USB 2.0 EHCI host controller and a USB 1.1 OHCI host controller. This
adds support for both of them.
Testing notes:
* With -device usb-kbd, qemu will automatically insert a full-speed
hub, and the keyboard becomes controlled by the OHCI controller.
* With -device usb-kbd,bus=usb-bus.0,port=1, the keyboard is directly
attached to the port without any hubs, and the device becomes
controlled by the EHCI controller since it's high speed capable.
* With -device usb-kbd,bus=usb-bus.0,port=1,usb_version=1, the
keyboard is directly attached to the port, but it only advertises
itself as full-speed capable, so it becomes controlled by the OHCI
controller.
In all cases, the keyboard device enumerates correctly.

The EHCI Host Controller emulation attempt to locate the device
associated with a periodic isochronous transfer description (iTD) and
when this fail the host controller is reset.
But according the EHCI spec 1.0 section 5.15.2.4 Host System
Error, the host controller is supposed to reset itself only when it
failed to communicate with the Host (Operating System), like when
there's an error on the PCI bus. If a transaction fails, there's
nothing in the spec that say to reset the host controller.
This patch rework the error path so that the host controller can keep
working when the OS setup a bogus transaction, it also revert to the
behavior of the EHCI emulation to before commits:
e94682f1fe ("ehci: check device is not NULL before calling usb_ep_get()")
7011baece2 ("usb: remove unnecessary NULL device check from usb_ep_get()")
The issue has been found while trying to passthrough a USB device to a
Windows Server 2012 Xen guest via "usb-ehci", which prevent the USB
device from working in Windows. ("usb-ehci" alone works, windows only
setup this weird periodic iTD to device 127 endpoint 15 when the USB
device is passthrough.)

This patch adds the U2F key emulated mode.
The emulated mode consists of completely emulating the behavior of a
U2F device through software part. Libu2f-emu is used for that.
The emulated mode is associated with a device inheriting from
u2f-key base.
To work, an emulated U2F device must have differents elements which
can be given in different ways. This is detailed in docs/u2f.txt.
The Ephemeral one is the simplest way to configure, it lets the device
generate all the elements it needs for a single use of the lifetime
of the device:
qemu -usb -device u2f-emulated

This patch adds the U2F key pass-through mode.
The pass-through mode consists of passing all requests made from the
guest to the physical security key connected to the host machine and
vice versa.
In addition, the dedicated pass-through allows to have a U2F security key
shared on several guests which is not possible with a simple host device
assignment pass-through.
The pass-through mode is associated with a device inheriting from
u2f-key base.
To work, it needs the path to a U2F hidraw, obtained from the Qemu
command line, and passed by the user:
qemu -usb -device u2f-passthru,hidraw=/dev/hidrawX
Autoscan and U2F compatibility checking features are given at the end
of the patch series.

This patch adds the U2F key base class implementation.
The U2F key base mainly takes care of the HID interfacing with guest.
On the one hand, it retrieves the guest U2FHID packets and transmits
them to the variant associated according to the mode: pass-through
or emulated.
On the other hand, it provides the public API used by its variants to

Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).
In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".
This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

The USB_DWC2 switch is currently "default y", so it is included in all
qemu-system-* builds, even if it is not needed. Even worse, it does a
"select USB", so USB devices are now showing up as available on targets
that do not support USB at all. This sysbus device should only be
included by the boards that need it, i.e. by the Raspi machines.

QEMU XHCI advertises AC64 (64-bit addressing) but doesn't allow
64-bit mode access in "runtime" and "operational" MemoryRegionOps.
Set the max_access_size based on sizeof(dma_addr_t) as AC64 is set.
XHCI specs:
"If the xHC supports 64-bit addressing (AC64 = ‘1’), then software
should write 64-bit registers using only Qword accesses. If a
system is incapable of issuing Qword accesses, then writes to the
64-bit address fields shall be performed using 2 Dword accesses;
low Dword-first, high-Dword second. If the xHC supports 32-bit
addressing (AC64 = ‘0’), then the high Dword of registers containing
64-bit address fields are unused and software should write addresses
using only Dword accesses"
The problem has been detected with SLOF, as linux kernel always accesses
registers using 32-bit access even if AC64 is set and revealed by
5d971f9e67 ("memory: Revert "memory: accept mismatching sizes in memory_region_access_valid"")

qbus_set_hotplug_handler() is a simple wrapper around
object_property_set_link().
object_property_set_link() fails when the property doesn't exist, is
not settable, or its .check() method fails. These are all programming
errors here, so passing &error_abort to qbus_set_hotplug_handler() is
appropriate.
Most of its callers do. Exceptions:
* pcie_cap_slot_init(), shpc_init(), spapr_phb_realize() pass NULL,
i.e. they ignore errors.
* spapr_machine_init() passes &error_fatal.
* s390_pcihost_realize(), virtio_serial_device_realize(),
s390_pcihost_plug() pass the error to their callers. The latter two
keep going after the error, which looks wrong.
Drop the @errp parameter, and instead pass &error_abort to
object_property_set_link().

I'm not aware of any immediate bugs in qemu where a second runtime
evaluation of the arguments to MIN() or MAX() causes a problem, but
proactively preventing such abuse is easier than falling prey to an
unintended case down the road. At any rate, here's the conversation
that sparked the current patch:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2018-12/msg05718.html
Update the MIN/MAX macros to only evaluate their argument once at
runtime; this uses typeof(1 ? (a) : (b)) to ensure that we are
promoting the temporaries to the same type as the final comparison (we
have to trigger type promotion, as typeof(bitfield) won't compile; and
we can't use typeof((a) + (b)) or even typeof((a) + 0), as some of our
uses of MAX are on void* pointers where such addition is undefined).
However, we are unable to work around gcc refusing to compile ({}) in
a constant context (such as the array length of a static variable),
even when only used in the dead branch of a __builtin_choose_expr(),
so we have to provide a second macro pair MIN_CONST and MAX_CONST for
use when both arguments are known to be compile-time constants and
where the result must also be usable as a constant; this second form
evaluates arguments multiple times but that doesn't matter for
constants. By using a void expression as the expansion if a
non-constant is presented to this second form, we can enlist the
compiler to ensure the double evaluation is not attempted on
non-constants.
Alas, as both macros now rely on compiler intrinsics, they are no
longer usable in preprocessor #if conditions; those will just have to
be open-coded or the logic rewritten into #define or runtime 'if'
conditions (but where the compiler dead-code-elimination will probably
still apply).
I tested that both gcc 10.1.1 and clang 10.0.0 produce errors for all
forms of macro mis-use. As the errors can sometimes be cryptic, I'm
demonstrating the gcc output:

Fix the resulting callsites that used #if or computed a compile-time
constant min or max to use the new macros. cpu-defs.h is interesting,
as CPU_TLB_DYN_MAX_BITS is sometimes used as a constant and sometimes
dynamic.
It may be worth improving glib's MIN/MAX definitions to be saner, but
that is a task for another day.

be in certain relationship WRT each other: physical block must be no

To ensure these requirements are met, add corresponding consistency
checks to blkconf_blocksizes, adjusting its signature to communicate
possible error to the caller. Also remove the now redundant consistency
checks from the specific devices.

Emulation of slave mode and of descriptor-DMA mode has not been

I have used some on-line sources of information while developing
this emulation, including:

on page 370.
https://sourceforge.net/p/wive-ng/wive-ng-mt/ci/master/tree/docs/DataSheets/RT3050_5x_V2.0_081408_0902.pdf

Thanks to Felippe Mathieu-Daude for providing a cleaner method
of implementing the memory regions for the controller registers.

usbback_portid_add() leaks the error when qdev_device_add() fails.
Fix that. While there, use the error to improve the error message.
The qemu_opts_from_qdict() similarly leaks on failure. But any
failure there is a programming error. Pass &error_abort.

Devices may have component devices and buses.
Device realization may fail. Realization is recursive: a device's
realize() method realizes its components, and device_set_realized()
realizes its buses (which should in turn realize the devices on that
bus, except bus_set_realized() doesn't implement that, yet).
When realization of a component or bus fails, we need to roll back:
unrealize everything we realized so far. If any of these unrealizes
failed, the device would be left in an inconsistent state. Must not
happen.
device_set_realized() lets it happen: it ignores errors in the roll
back code starting at label child_realize_fail.
Since realization is recursive, unrealization must be recursive, too.
But how could a partly failed unrealize be rolled back? We'd have to
re-realize, which can fail. This design is fundamentally broken.
device_set_realized() does not roll back at all. Instead, it keeps
unrealizing, ignoring further errors.
It can screw up even for a device with no buses: if the lone
dc->unrealize() fails, it still unregisters vmstate, and calls
listeners' unrealize() callback.
bus_set_realized() does not roll back either. Instead, it stops
unrealizing.
Fortunately, no unrealize method can fail, as we'll see below.
To fix the design error, drop parameter @errp from all the unrealize
methods.
Any unrealize method that uses @errp now needs an update. This leads
us to unrealize() methods that can fail. Merely passing it to another
unrealize method cannot cause failure, though. Here are the ones that
do other things with @errp:
* virtio_serial_device_unrealize()
Fails when qbus_set_hotplug_handler() fails, but still does all the
other work. On failure, the device would stay realized with its
resources completely gone. Oops. Can't happen, because
qbus_set_hotplug_handler() can't actually fail here. Pass
&error_abort to qbus_set_hotplug_handler() instead.
* hw/ppc/spapr_drc.c's unrealize()
Fails when object_property_del() fails, but all the other work is
already done. On failure, the device would stay realized with its
vmstate registration gone. Oops. Can't happen, because
object_property_del() can't actually fail here. Pass &error_abort
to object_property_del() instead.
* spapr_phb_unrealize()
Fails and bails out when remove_drcs() fails, but other work is
already done. On failure, the device would stay realized with some
of its resources gone. Oops. remove_drcs() fails only when
chassis_from_bus()'s object_property_get_uint() fails, and it can't
here. Pass &error_abort to remove_drcs() instead.
Therefore, no unrealize method can fail before this patch.
device_set_realized()'s recursive unrealization via bus uses
object_property_set_bool(). Can't drop @errp there, so pass
&error_abort.
We similarly unrealize with object_property_set_bool() elsewhere,
always ignoring errors. Pass &error_abort instead.
Several unrealize methods no longer handle errors from other unrealize
methods: virtio_9p_device_unrealize(),
virtio_input_device_unrealize(), scsi_qdev_unrealize(), ...
Much of the deleted error handling looks wrong anyway.
One unrealize methods no longer ignore such errors:
usb_ehci_pci_exit().
Several realize methods no longer ignore errors when rolling back:
v9fs_device_realize_common(), pci_qdev_unrealize(),
spapr_phb_realize(), usb_qdev_realize(), vfio_ccw_realize(),
virtio_device_realize().

The only way object_property_add() can fail is when a property with
the same name already exists. Since our property names are all
hardcoded, failure is a programming error, and the appropriate way to
handle it is passing &error_abort.
Same for its variants, except for object_property_add_child(), which
additionally fails when the child already has a parent. Parentage is
also under program control, so this is a programming error, too.
We have a bit over 500 callers. Almost half of them pass
&error_abort, slightly fewer ignore errors, one test case handles
errors, and the remaining few callers pass them to their own callers.
The previous few commits demonstrated once again that ignoring
programming errors is a bad idea.
Of the few ones that pass on errors, several violate the Error API.
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call. ich9_pm_add_properties(), sparc32_ledma_realize(),
sparc32_dma_realize(), xilinx_axidma_realize(), xilinx_enet_realize()
are wrong that way.
When the one appropriate choice of argument is &error_abort, letting
users pick the argument is a bad idea.
Drop parameter @errp and assert the preconditions instead.
There's one exception to "duplicate property name is a programming
error": the way object_property_add() implements the magic (and
undocumented) "automatic arrayification". Don't drop @errp there.
Instead, rename object_property_add() to object_property_try_add(),
and add the obvious wrapper object_property_add().

[Two semantic rebase conflicts resolved]
The function usbback_packet_complete() currently takes a USBPacket*,
which must be a pointer to the packet field within a struct
usbback_req; the function uses container_of() to get the struct
usbback_req* given the USBPacket*.
This is unnecessarily confusing (and in particular it confuses the
Coverity Scan analysis, resulting in the false positive CID 1421919
where it thinks that we write off the end of the structure). Since
both callsites already have the pointer to the struct usbback_req,
just pass that in directly.

A FTDI USB adapter on an xHCI controller can send 512 byte USB packets.
These are 8 * ( 2 bytes header + 62 bytes data). A 384 byte receive
buffer is insufficient to fill a 512 byte packet, so bump the receive
size to 496 ( 512 - 2 * 8 ).

usb-serial has issues with xHCI controllers where data is lost in the
VM. Inspecting the URBs in the guest, EHCI starts every 64 byte boundary
(wMaxPacketSize) with a header. EHCI hands packets into
usb_serial_token_in() with size 64, so these cannot cross the 64 byte
boundary. The xHCI controller has packets of 512 bytes and the usb-serial
will just write through the 64 byte boundary. In the guest, this means
data bytes are interpreted as header, so data bytes don't make it out
the serial interface.
Re-work usb_serial_token_in to chunk data into 64 byte units - 2 byte
header and 62 bytes data. The Linux driver reads wMaxPacketSize to find
the chunk size, so we match that.
Real hardware was observed to pass in 512 byte URBs (496 bytes data +
8 * 2 byte headers). Since usb-serial only buffers 384 bytes of data,
usb-serial will pass in 6 64 byte blocks and 1 12 byte partial block for
462 bytes max.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language

declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler
warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the
structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined
behavior bugs from being unadvertenly introduced [2] to the
Linux codebase from now on.
