Markus Armbruster 8ecc2f9eab sheepdog: Use SocketAddress and socket_connect()
sd_parse_uri() builds a string from host and port parts for
inet_connect().  inet_connect() parses it into host, port and options.
Whether this gets exactly the same host, port and no options for all
inputs is not obvious.

Cut out the string middleman and build a SocketAddress for
socket_connect() instead.

Markus Armbruster 36bcac16fd sheepdog: Report errors in pseudo-filename more usefully
Errors in the pseudo-filename are all reported with the same laconic
"Can't parse filename" message.

Add real error reporting, such as:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 --drive driver=sheepdog,filename=sheepdog:///
    qemu-system-x86_64: --drive driver=sheepdog,filename=sheepdog:///: missing file path in URI
    $ qemu-system-x86_64 --drive driver=sheepdog,filename=sheepgod:///vdi

    qemu-system-x86_64: --drive driver=sheepdog,filename=sheepdog+unix:///vdi?socke=sheepdog.sock: unexpected query parameters

The code to translate legacy syntax to URI fails to escape URI
meta-characters.  The new error messages are misleading then.  Replace
them by the old "Can't parse filename" message.  "Internal error"
would be more honest.  Anyway, no worse than before.  Also add a FIXME
comment.

Markus Armbruster 89e2a31d33 sheepdog: Fix snapshot ID parsing in _open(), _create, _goto()
sd_parse_uri() and sd_snapshot_goto() screw up error checking after
strtoul(), and truncate long tag names silently.  Fix by replacing
those parts by new sd_parse_snapid_or_tag(), which checks more
carefully.

sd_snapshot_delete() also parses snapshot IDs, but is currently too
broken for me to touch.  Mark TODO.

Two calls of strtol() without error checking remain in
parse_redundancy().  Mark them FIXME.

More silent truncation of configuration strings remains elsewhere.
Not marked.

Markus Armbruster a0dc0e2bfe sheepdog: Mark sd_snapshot_delete() lossage FIXME
sd_snapshot_delete() should delete the snapshot whose ID matches
@snapshot_id and whose name matches @name.  But that's not what it
does.  If @snapshot_id is a valid ID, it deletes the snapshot with
that ID, else it deletes the snapshot with that name.  It doesn't use
@name at all.  Add suitable FIXME comments, so someone who actually
knows Sheepdog can fix it.

Markus Armbruster 48d7c4af06 sheepdog: Fix error handling sd_create()
As a bdrv_create() method, sd_create() must set an error and return
negative errno on failure.  It prints the error instead of setting it
when connect_to_sdog() fails.  Fix that.

While there, return the value of connect_to_sdog() like we do
elsewhere, instead of -EIO.  No functional change, as
connect_to_sdog() returns no other error code.

Many more suspicious uses of error_report() and error_report_err()
remain in other functions.  Left for another day.

Markus Armbruster e25cad6921 sheepdog: Fix error handling in sd_snapshot_delete()
As a bdrv_snapshot_delete() method, sd_snapshot_delete() must set an
error and return negative errno on failure.  It sometimes returns -1,
and sometimes neglects to set an error.  It also prints error messages
with error_report().  Fix all that.

Moreover, its handling of an attempt to delete a nonexistent snapshot
is wrong: it error_report()s and succeeds.  Fix it to set an error and
return -ENOENT instead.

Markus Armbruster cbc488ee2a sheepdog: Defuse time bomb in sd_open() error handling
When qemu_opts_absorb_qdict() fails, sd_open() closes stdin, because
sd->fd is still zero.  Fortunately, qemu_opts_absorb_qdict() can't
fail, because:

1. it only fails when qemu_opt_parse() fails, and
2. the only member of runtime_opts.desc[] is a QEMU_OPT_STRING, and
3. qemu_opt_parse() can't fail for QEMU_OPT_STRING.

Defuse this ticking time bomb by jumping behind the file descriptor
cleanup on error.

Also do that for the error paths where sd->fd is still -1.  The file
descriptor cleanup happens to do nothing then, but let's not rely on
that here.

While there, rename label out to err, because it's on the error path,
not the normal path out of the function.

Kevin Wolf 55880601d8 block: Add BDRV_O_RESIZE for blk_new_open()
blk_new_open() is a convenience function that processes flags rather
than QDict options as a simple way to just open an image file.

In order to keep it convenient in the future, it must automatically
request the necessary permissions. This can easily be inferred from the
flags for read and write, but we need another flag that tells us whether
to get the resize permission.

We can't just always request it because that means that no block jobs
can run on the resulting BlockBackend (which is something that e.g.
qemu-img commit wants to do), but we also can't request it never because
most of the .bdrv_create() implementations call blk_truncate().

The solution is to introduce another flag that is passed by all users
that want to resize the image.

Paolo Bonzini e80ab33dc0 sheepdog: reorganize coroutine flow
Delimit co_recv's lifetime clearly in aio_read_response.

Do a simple qemu_coroutine_enter in aio_read_response, letting
sd_co_writev call sd_write_done.

Handle nr_pending in the same way in sd_co_rw_vector,
sd_write_done and sd_co_flush_to_disk.

Remove sd_co_rw_vector's return value; just leave with no
pending requests.

Eric Blake 49228d1e95 block: Return -ENOTSUP rather than assert on unaligned discards
Right now, the block layer rounds discard requests, so that
individual drivers are able to assert that discard requests
will never be unaligned.  But there are some ISCSI devices
that track and coalesce multiple unaligned requests, turning it
into an actual discard if the requests eventually cover an
entire page, which implies that it is better to always pass
discard requests as low down the stack as possible.

In isolation, this patch has no semantic effect, since the
block layer currently never passes an unaligned request through.
But the block layer already has code that silently ignores
drivers that return -ENOTSUP for a discard request that cannot
be honored (as well as drivers that return 0 even when nothing
was done).  But the next patch will update the block layer to
fragment discard requests, so that clients are guaranteed that
they are either dealing with an unaligned head or tail, or an
aligned core, making it similar to the block layer semantics of
write zero fragmentation.

Paolo Bonzini c9d1a56174 block: only call aio_poll on the current thread's AioContext
aio_poll is not thread safe; for example bdrv_drain can hang if
the last in-flight I/O operation is completed in the I/O thread after
the main thread has checked bs->in_flight.

The bug remains latent as long as all of it is called within
aio_context_acquire/aio_context_release, but this will change soon.

To fix this, if bdrv_drain is called from outside the I/O thread,
signal the main AioContext through a dummy bottom half.  The event
loop then only runs in the I/O thread.

Paolo Bonzini 0b8b8753e4 coroutine: move entry argument to qemu_coroutine_create
In practice the entry argument is always known at creation time, and
it is confusing that sometimes qemu_coroutine_enter is used with a
non-NULL argument to re-enter a coroutine (this happens in
block/sheepdog.c and tests/test-coroutine.c).  So pass the opaque value
at creation time, for consistency with e.g. aio_bh_new.

Eric Blake 8341f00dc2 block: Allow BDRV_REQ_FUA through blk_pwrite()
We have several block drivers that understand BDRV_REQ_FUA,
and emulate it in the block layer for the rest by a full flush.
But without a way to actually request BDRV_REQ_FUA during a
pass-through blk_pwrite(), FUA-aware block drivers like NBD are
forced to repeat the emulation logic of a full flush regardless
of whether the backend they are writing to could do it more
efficiently.

This patch just wires up a flags argument; followup patches
will actually make use of it in the NBD driver and in qemu-io.

Kevin Wolf 72e775c7d9 block: Always set writeback mode in blk_new_open()
All callers of blk_new_open() either don't rely on the WCE bit set after
blk_new_open() because they explicitly set it anyway, or they pass
BDRV_O_CACHE_WB unconditionally.

This patch changes blk_new_open() so that it always enables writeback
mode and asserts that BDRV_O_CACHE_WB is clear. For those callers that
used to pass BDRV_O_CACHE_WB unconditionally, the flag is removed now.

Markus Armbruster da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef.  Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere.  Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h.  That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h.  Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now.  Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly.  Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h.  Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third.  Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little.  More work is needed for that one.

Max Reitz efaa7c4eeb blockdev: Split monitor reference from BB creation
Before this patch, blk_new() automatically assigned a name to the new
BlockBackend and considered it referenced by the monitor. This patch
removes the implicit monitor_add_blk() call from blk_new() (and
consequently the monitor_remove_blk() call from blk_delete(), too) and
thus blk_new() (and related functions) no longer take a BB name
argument.

In fact, there is only a single point where blk_new()/blk_new_open() is
called and the new BB is monitor-owned, and that is in blockdev_init().
Besides thus relieving us from having to invent names for all of the BBs
we use in qemu-img, this fixes a bug where qemu cannot create a new
image if there already is a monitor-owned BB named "image".

If a BB and its BDS tree are created in a single operation, as of this
patch the BDS tree will be created before the BB is given a name
(whereas it was the other way around before). This results in minor
change to the output of iotest 087, whose reference output is amended
accordingly.

Jeff Cody 03c698f0a2 block/sheepdog: fix argument passed to qemu_strtoul()
The function qemu_strtoul() reads 'unsigned long' sized data,
which is larger than uint32_t on 64-bit machines.

Even though the snap_id field in the header is 32-bits, we must
accommodate the full size in qemu_strtoul().

This patch also adds more meaningful error handling to the
qemu_strtoul() call, and subsequent results.

Daniel P. Berrange b16a44e13e osdep: remove use of socket_error() from all code
Now that QEMU wraps the Win32 sockets methods to automatically
set errno upon failure, there is no reason for callers to use
the socket_error() method. They can rely on accessing errno
even on Win32. Remove all use of socket_error() from general
code, leaving it as a static method in oslib-win32.c only.

Fam Zheng 67a0fd2a9b block: Add "file" output parameter to block status query functions
The added parameter can be used to return the BDS pointer which the
valid offset is referring to. Its value should be ignored unless
BDRV_BLOCK_OFFSET_VALID in ret is set.

Until block drivers fill in the right value, let's clear it explicitly
right before calling .bdrv_get_block_status.

The "bs->file" condition in bdrv_co_get_block_status is kept now to keep iotest
case 102 passing, and will be fixed once all drivers return the right file
pointer.

Hitoshi Mitake e6fd57ea29 sheepdog: refine discard support
This patch refines discard support of the sheepdog driver. The
existing discard mechanism was implemented on SD_OP_DISCARD_OBJ, which
was introduced before fine grained reference counting on newer
sheepdog. It doesn't care about relations of snapshots and clones and
discards objects unconditionally.

With this patch, the driver just updates an inode object for updating
reference. Removing the object is done in sheep process side.

Hitoshi Mitake 498f21405a sheepdog: use per AIOCB dirty indexes for non overlapping requests
In the commit 96b14ff85acf, requests for overlapping areas are
serialized. However, it cannot handle a case of non overlapping
requests. In such a case, min_dirty_data_idx and max_dirty_data_idx
can be overwritten by the requests and invalid inode update can
happen e.g. a case like create(1, 2) and create(3, 4) are issued in
parallel.

This patch lets SheepdogAIOCB have dirty data indexes instead of
BDRVSheepdogState for avoiding the above situation.

This patch also does trivial renaming for better description:
overwrapping -> overlapping

Hitoshi Mitake 6a55c82cec sheepdog: serialize requests to overwrapping area
Current sheepdog driver only serializes create requests in oid
unit. This mechanism isn't enough for handling requests to
overwrapping area spanning multiple oids, so it can result bugs like
below:

This patch adds a new serialization mechanism for the problem. The
difference from the old one is:
1. serialize entire aiocb if their targetting areas overwrap
2. serialize all requests (read, write, and discard), not only creates

This patch also removes the old mechanism because the new one can be
an alternative.

This patch enables users to handle VDI object size.

When you start qemu, you don't need to specify additional command option.

But when you create the VDI which doesn't have default object size

If you want to create a VDI of 8MB object size,
you need to specify following command option.

In addition, when you don't specify qemu-img command option,
a default value of sheepdog cluster is used for creating VDI.

Hu Tao c2eb918e32 block: round up file size to nearest sector
Currently the file size requested by user is rounded down to nearest
sector, causing the actual file size could be a bit less than the size
user requested. Since some formats (like qcow2) record virtual disk
size in bytes, this can make the last few bytes cannot be accessed.

This patch fixes it by rounding up file size to nearest sector so that
the actual file size is no less than the requested file size.

g_new(T, n) is safer than g_malloc(sizeof(*v) * n) for two reasons.
One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t.  Two, it returns
T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type
errors.

Perhaps a conversion to g_malloc_n() would be neater in places, but
that's merely four years old, and we can't use such newfangled stuff.

This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form
sizeof(T), plus two that use 4 instead of sizeof(uint32_t).  We can
make the others safe by converting to g_malloc_n() when it becomes
available to us in a couple of years.

Hitoshi Mitake b544c1aba8 sheepdog: fix vdi object update after live snapshot
sheepdog driver should decide a write request is COW or not based on inode
object which is active when the write request is issued.

Example of wrong inode update path in the previous driver:
1. drier issues an ordinal write request to an existing object
2. user creates a snapshot of the VDI before the write request is completed
3. the respones for the request is RDONLY, because the VDI is already a snapshot
4. the driver reload an inode object of the new active VDI, then issues a write
   request again
5. the second write request can be completed
6. driver decide the request is COW or not with the below conditional branch:
   	  if (s->inode.data_vdi_id[idx] != s->inode.vdi_id) {
7. the ID of the written object and VID of the new active VDI is different, so
   the driver updates data_vdi_id[idx] and writes inode object
8. the existing object cannot be seen by the new active VDI, it results object
   leaking

Stefan Hajnoczi 84390bed59 sheepdog: implement .bdrv_detach/attach_aio_context()
Drop the assumption that we're using the main AioContext.  Convert
qemu_aio_set_fd_handler() to aio_set_fd_handler() and qemu_aio_wait() to
aio_poll().

The .bdrv_detach/attach_aio_context() interfaces also need to be
implemented to move the socket fd handler from the old to the new
AioContext.

Max Reitz 2e40134bfd block: Make bdrv_file_open() static
Add the bdrv_open() option BDRV_O_PROTOCOL which results in passing the
call to bdrv_file_open(). Additionally, make bdrv_file_open() static and
therefore bdrv_open() the only way to call it.

Consequently, all existing calls to bdrv_file_open() have to be adjusted
to use bdrv_open() with the BDRV_O_PROTOCOL flag instead.

Markus Armbruster 84d18f065f Use error_is_set() only when necessary
error_is_set(&var) is the same as var != NULL, but it takes
whole-program analysis to figure that out.  Unnecessarily hard for
optimizers, static checkers, and human readers.  Dumb it down to
obvious.

Gets rid of several dozen Coverity false positives.

Note that the obvious form is already used in many places.

We should pass base_inode->vdi_id to base_vdi_id of SheepdogVdiReq so that sheep
can create a clone instead a fresh volume.

This fixes following command:

so users can boot sheepdog:clone as a normal volume.

Liu Yuan e50d7607f1 sheepdog: fix dynamic grow for running qcow2 format
When running qcow2 over sheepdog, we might meet following problem

  qemu-system-x86_64: shrinking is not supported

And cause IO errors to Guest. This is because we abuse bs->total_sectors, which
is manipulated by generic block layer and race with sheepdog code.

We should directly check if offset > vdi_size to dynamically enlarge the volume
instead of 'offset > bs->total_sectors', which will cause problem when following
case happens:

   vdi_size > offset > bs->total_sectors

   # then trigger sd_truncate() to shrink the volume wrongly.

 -o redundancy=x:y (x must be one of {2,4,8,16} and 1 <= y < SD_EC_MAX_STRIP)

E.g, to convert a vdi into sheepdog vdi 'test' with 8:3 erasure coding scheme

$ qemu-img convert -o redundancy=8:3 linux-0.2.img sheepdog:test

MORITA Kazutaka 80308d33ec sheepdog: check simultaneous create in resend_aioreq
After reconnection happens, all the inflight requests are moved to the
failed request list.  As a result, sd_co_rw_vector() can send another
create request before resend_aioreq() resends a create request from
the failed list.

This patch adds a helper function check_simultaneous_create() and
checks simultaneous create requests more strictly in resend_aioreq().

MORITA Kazutaka 011603cacf sheepdog: try to reconnect to sheepdog after network error
This introduces a failed request queue and links all the inflight
requests to the list after network error happens.  After QEMU
reconnects to the sheepdog server successfully, the sheepdog block
driver will retry all the requests in the failed queue.
