Takashi Iwai b06898d119 ASoC: Updates for v4.14
This is quite a large release by volume of patches and diff, a lot of
that is mechanical cleanup patches but it's great to also see a range of
vendors actively working on adding new features and fixing issues in
their drivers. Intel and Realtek have been especially active here.

  - Continued work towards moving everything to the component model from
    Morimoto-san.
  - Use of devres for jack detection GPIOs, eliminating some potential
    resource leaks.
  - Jack detection support for Qualcomm MSM8916.
  - Support for Allwinner H3, Cirrus Logic CS43130, Intel Kabylake

Vitaly Wool a728f56094 ASoC: make clock direction configurable in asoc-simple
Some CPU drivers (e. g. davinci-mcasp) may require the system clock to
be configured as OUT, while there's no good way currently to set
SND_SOC_CLK_OUT in simple-soc driver if the clock is fixed-rate.

This patch makes asoc_simple_card_init_dai() initialize clock to
SND_SOCK_CLK_OUT if explicitly stated in the relevant dts file. This
change is transparent and doesn't change the default behavior.

Takashi Iwai 7d8e829201 ALSA: Get rid of card power_lock
Currently we're taking power_lock at each card component for assuring
the power-up sequence, but it doesn't help anything in the
implementation at the moment: it just serializes unnecessarily the
callers, but it doesn't protect about the power state change itself.
It used to have some usefulness in the early days where we managed the
PM manually. But now the suspend/resume core procedure is beyond our
hands, and power_lock lost its meaning.

This patch drops the power_lock from allover the places.
There shouldn't be any issues by this change, as it's no helper
regarding the power state change. Rather we'll get better performance
by removing the serialization; which is the only slight concern of any
behavior change, but it can't be a showstopper, after all.

Kuninori Morimoto 90be711e23 ASoC: use snd_soc_rtdcom_add() and convert to consistent operation
Basically, current ALSA SoC framework is based on CPU/Codec/Platform,
but its operation doesn't have consistent.
Thus, source code was unreadable, and difficult to understand.
This patch connects each component (= CPU/Codec/Platform) to rtd by
using snd_soc_rtdcom_add(), and convert uneven operations to consistent
operation.

Kuninori Morimoto a0ac441152 ASoC: soc-core: add snd_soc_rtdcom_xxx()
Current snd_soc_pcm_runtime has platform / codec pointers, and we could
use these specific pointer. But these will be replaced to more generic
"component" soon, and will need more generic method to get each
connected component pointer from rtd.

This patch adds new snd_soc_rtdcom_xxx() to connect/disconnect
component to rtd. It means same as previous "platform" / "codec"
pointer style, but more generic.
We can find necessary component pointer from rtd by using component
driver name on snd_soc_rtdcom_lookup().

Here, the reason why it uses "driver name" is that "component name"
was created by fmt_single_name() and difficult to use it from driver.
Driver of course knows its "driver name", thus, using it is more easy.

Takashi Sakamoto 30d8340b58 ALSA: control: obsolete user_ctl_lock
At a previous commit, concurrent requests for TLV data are maintained
exclusively between read requests and write/command requests. TLV
callback handlers in each driver has no risk from concurrent access for
reference/change.

In current implementation, 'struct snd_card' has a mutex to control
concurrent accesses to user-defined element sets. This commit obsoletes it.

Johan Hovold c641e5b207 ASoC: fix pcm-creation regression
This reverts commit 99b04f4c40 ("ASoC: add Component level
pcm_new/pcm_free"), which started calling the pcm_new callback for every
component in a *card* when creating a new pcm, something which does not
seem to make any sense.

This specifically led to memory leaks in systems with more than one
platform component and where DMA memory is allocated in the
platform-driver callback. For example, when both mcasp devices are being
used on an am335x board, DMA memory would be allocated twice for every
DAI link during probe.

When CONFIG_SND_VERBOSE_PROCFS was set this fortunately also led to
warnings such as:

WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 565 at ../fs/proc/generic.c:346 proc_register+0x110/0x154
proc_dir_entry 'sub0/prealloc' already registered

Since there seems to be no users of the new component callbacks, and the
current implementation introduced a regression, let's revert the
offending commit for now.

driver. This quirk will set idx value to 1.

By setting this quirk, it will override supported format
as 16 bit resolution and bus width as 2 Bytes.

Takashi Iwai 4b671f5774 ALSA: pcm: Add an ioctl to specify the supported protocol version
We have an ioctl to inform the PCM protocol version the running kernel
supports, but there is no way to know which protocol version the
user-space can understand. This lack of information caused headaches
in the past when we tried to extend the ABI. For example, because we
couldn't guarantee the validity of the reserved bytes, we had to
introduce a new ioctl SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_STATUS_EXT for assigning a few
new fields in the formerly reserved bits. If we could know that it's
a new alsa-lib, we could assume the availability of the new fields,
thus we could have reused the existing SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_STATUS.

In order to improve the ABI extensibility, this patch adds a new ioctl
for user-space to inform its supporting protocol version to the
kernel. By reporting the supported protocol from user-space, the
kernel can judge which feature should be provided and which not.

With the addition of the new ioctl, the PCM protocol version is bumped
to 2.0.14, too. User-space checks the kernel protocol version via
SNDRV_PCM_INFO_PVERSION, then it sets the supported version back via
SNDRV_PCM_INFO_USER_PVERSION.

Kuninori Morimoto b31f11d036 ASoC: simple-card-utils: add asoc_simple_card_of_parse_widgets()
Current simple card drivers are parsing widgets on each own driver
(only simple-card at this point, but will be supported on all drivers)
Encapsulation is one of simple card util's purpose.
Let's add asoc_simple_card_of_parse_widgets for it.

Takashi Sakamoto e11f0f90a6 ALSA: pcm: remove SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO internal command
Drivers can implement 'struct snd_pcm_ops.ioctl' to handle some requests
from ALSA PCM core. These requests are internal purpose in kernel land.
Usually common set of operations are used for it.

SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO is one of the requests. According to code comment,
it has been obsoleted in the old days.

We can see old releases in ftp.alsa-project.org. The command was firstly
introduced in v0.5.0 release as SND_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO, to allow drivers to
fill data of 'struct snd_pcm_channel_info' type. In v0.9.0 release,
this was obsoleted by the other commands for ioctl(2) such as
SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_CHANNEL_INFO.

This commit removes the long-abandoned command, bye.
