Leif Lindholm 14d5addcae MAINTAINERS/.mailmap: update email for Leif Lindholm
NUVIA was acquired by Qualcomm in March 2021, but kept functioning on
separate infrastructure for a transitional period. We've now switched
over to contributing as Qualcomm Innovation Center (quicinc), so update
my email address to reflect this.

Alex Bennée 11593544df tests/avocado: update aarch64_virt test to exercise -cpu max
The Fedora 29 kernel is quite old and importantly fails when running
in LPA2 scenarios. As it's not really exercising much of the CPU space
replace it with a custom 5.16.12 kernel with all the architecture
options turned on. There is a minimal buildroot initramfs included in
the kernel which has a few tools for stress testing the memory
subsystem. The userspace also targets the Neoverse N1 processor so
would fail with a v8.0 cpu like cortex-a53.

While we are at it move the test into its own file so it can have an
assigned maintainer.

Philippe Mathieu-Daudé c82b7ef16f MAINTAINERS: Volunteer to maintain Darwin-based hosts support
While I am not an experienced Darwin OS user, I now have to
use a macOS based workstation and alike CI, meaning I should
easily spot regressions and test fixes. I therefore volunteer
to collect Darwin related patches and keep QEMU in good state
on macOS, and to some extent iOS.

Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy 1c14eaabdb block: introduce snapshot-access block driver
The new block driver simply utilizes snapshot-access API of underlying
block node.

In further patches we want to use it like this:

[guest] [NBD export]
   | |
   | root | root
   v file v
[copy-before-write]<------[snapshot-access]
   | |
   | file | target
   v v
[active-disk] [temp.img]

This way, NBD client will be able to read snapshotted state of active
disk, when active disk is continued to be written by guest. This is
known as "fleecing", and currently uses another scheme based on qcow2
temporary image which backing file is active-disk. New scheme comes
with benefits - see next commit.

The other possible application is exporting internal snapshots of
qcow2, like this:

[guest] [NBD export]
   | |
   | root | root
   v file v
[qcow2]<---------[snapshot-access]

For this, we'll need to implement snapshot-access API handlers in
qcow2 driver, and improve snapshot-access block driver (and API) to
make it possible to select snapshot by name. Another thing to improve
is size of snapshot. Now for simplicity we just use size of bs->file,
which is OK for backup, but for qcow2 snapshots export we'll need to
imporve snapshot-access API to get size of snapshot.

Daniel P. Berrangé d2ea8dac70 seccomp: add unit test for seccomp filtering
The handling of some syscalls / libc function is quite subtle. For
example, 'fork' at a libc level doesn't always correspond to 'fork'
at a syscall level, since the 'clone' syscall is preferred usually.

The unit test will help to detect these kind of problems. A point of
difficulty in writing a test though is that the QEMU build process may
already be confined by seccomp. For example, if running inside a
container. Since we can't predict what filtering might have been applied
already, we are quite conservative and skip all tests if we see any kind
of seccomp filter active.

Peter Maydell 5cbe64110d bsd-user: upstream signal implementation
Upstream the bsd-user fork signal implementation, for the most part. This
series of commits represents nearly all of the infrastructure that surround
signals, except the actual system call glue (that was also reworked in the
fork and needs its own series). In addition, this adds the sigsegv and sigbus
code to arm. Even in the fork, we don't have good x86 signal implementation,
so there's little to upstream for that at the moment.

bsd-user's signal implementation is similar to linux-user's. The full context
can be found in the bsd-user's fork's 'blitz branch' at
 https://github.com/qemu-bsd-user/qemu-bsd-user/tree/blitz which shows how these
are used to implement various system calls. Since this was built from
linux-user's stack stuff, evolved for BSD with the passage of a few years, it
no-doubt missed some bug fixes from linux-user (though nothing obvious stood out
in the quick comparison I made). After the first round of reviews, many of these
 improvements have been incorporated.

Merge remote-tracking branch 'remotes/bsdimp/tags/bsd-user-arm-2022q1-pull-request' into staging

bsd-user: upstream signal implementation
