With the command line flag -mplt and a recent toolchain, ELF binaries
generated by gcc can obtain EI_ABIVERSION=1, which makes, e.g., gcc
three-stage bootstrap in a mips-unknown-linux-gnu qemu-user chroot
fail since the binfmt-misc magic does not match anymore. Also other
values are technically possible. qemu executes these binaries just
fine, so relax the mask for the EI_ABIVERSION byte at offset 0x08.
In addition, extend magic string to distinguish mips o32 and n32 ABI.
This information is given by the EF_MIPS_ABI2 (0x20) bit in the
e_flags field of the ELF header (a 4-byte value at offset 0x24 for
the here applicable ELFCLASS32).

This patch fixes the update-binfmts templates being used in the script
scripts/qemu-binfmt-conf.sh when the option --debian is used.
Fixed issues are:
- Typo in flag 'credentials' (previously 'credential').
- Missing flags 'preserve' and 'fix_binary'.

Add --preserve-argv0 in qemu-binfmt-conf.sh to configure the preserve-argv0
flag.
This patch allows to use new flag in AT_FLAGS to detect if
preserve-argv0 is configured for this interpreter:
argv[0] (the full pathname provided by binfmt-misc) is removed and
replaced by argv[1] (the original argv[0] provided by binfmt-misc when
'P'/preserve-arg[0] is set)
For instance with this patch and kernel support for AT_FLAGS:
$ sudo chroot m68k-chroot sh -c 'echo $0'
sh
without this patch:
$ sudo chroot m68k-chroot sh -c 'echo $0'
/usr/bin/sh
The new flag is available in kernel (v5.12) since:
2347961b11d4 ("binfmt_misc: pass binfmt_misc flags to the interpreter")
This can be tested with something like:
# cp ..../qemu-ppc /chroot/powerpc/jessie

Original qemu-binfmt-conf.sh is only able to write configuration
into /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc, and the configuration is lost on reboot.
This script can configure debian and systemd services to restore
configuration on reboot. Moreover, it is able to manage binfmt
credential and to configure the path of the interpreter.
List of supported CPU is:
i386 i486 alpha arm sparc32plus ppc ppc64 ppc64le
m68k mips mipsel mipsn32 mipsn32el mips64 mips64el
sh4 sh4eb s390x aarch64
Usage: qemu-binfmt-conf.sh [--qemu-path PATH][--debian][--systemd CPU]

--help: display this usage

--systemd: don't write into /proc,

--exportdir: define where to write configuration files
(default: /etc/binfmt.d or /usr/share/binfmts)
--credential: if yes, credential an security tokens are

To import templates with update-binfmts, use :

To remove interpreter, use :
sudo update-binfmts --package qemu-CPU --remove qemu-CPU /usr/local/bin
