Eric Blake 1c6c4bb7f0 block: Convert BB interface to byte-based discards
Change sector-based blk_discard(), blk_co_discard(), and
blk_aio_discard() to instead be byte-based blk_pdiscard(),
blk_co_pdiscard(), and blk_aio_pdiscard().  NBD gets a lot
simpler now that ignoring the unaligned portion of a
byte-based discard request is handled under the hood by
the block layer.

Max Reitz a367467995 qemu-io: Use correct range limitations
create_iovec() has a comment lamenting the lack of SIZE_T_MAX. Since
there actually is a SIZE_MAX, use it.

Two places use INT_MAX for checking the upper bound of a sector count
that is used as an argument for a blk_*() function (blk_discard() and
blk_write_compressed(), respectively). BDRV_REQUEST_MAX_SECTORS should
be used instead.

And finally, do_co_pwrite_zeroes() used to similarly check that the
sector count does not exceed INT_MAX. However, this function is now
backed by blk_co_pwrite_zeroes() which takes bytes as an argument
instead of sectors. Therefore, it should be the byte count that does not
exceed INT_MAX, not the sector count.

Paolo Bonzini 0b8b8753e4 coroutine: move entry argument to qemu_coroutine_create
In practice the entry argument is always known at creation time, and
it is confusing that sometimes qemu_coroutine_enter is used with a
non-NULL argument to re-enter a coroutine (this happens in
block/sheepdog.c and tests/test-coroutine.c). So pass the opaque value
at creation time, for consistency with e.g. aio_bh_new.

Mostly done with the following semantic patch:

@ entry1 @

- co = qemu_coroutine_create(entry);

except for the aforementioned few places where the semantic patch
stumbled (as expected) and for test_co_queue, which would otherwise
produce an uninitialized variable warning.

Eric Blake d004bd52aa block: Rename blk_write_zeroes()
Commit 983a1600 changed the semantics of blk_write_zeroes() to
be byte-based rather than sector-based, but did not change the
name, which is an open invitation for other code to misuse the
function. Renaming to pwrite_zeroes() makes it more in line
with other byte-based interfaces, and will help make it easier
to track which remaining write_zeroes interfaces still need
conversion.

Eric Blake 093ea232b0 qemu-io: Allow unaligned access by default
There's no reason to require the user to specify a flag just so
they can pass in unaligned numbers. Keep 'read -p' and 'write -p'
as no-ops so that I don't have to hunt down and update all users
of qemu-io, but otherwise make their behavior default as 'read' and
'write'. Also fix 'write -z', 'readv', 'writev', 'writev',
'aio_read', 'aio_write', and 'aio_write -z'. For now, 'read -b',
'write -b', and 'write -c' still require alignment (and 'multiwrite',
but that's slated to die soon).

qemu-iotest 23 is updated to match, as the only test that was
previously explicitly expecting an error on an unaligned request.

Eric Blake 7b3f9712e1 qemu-io: Switch to byte-based block access
qemu-io is the last user of several sector-based interfaces.
This patch upgrades to the new interfaces under the hood,
then deletes the resulting dead code. Note that for maximum
back-compat, while the -p option is no longer required to get
blk_pread(), it is still needed to allow for unaligned access;
this is because qemu-iotest 23 relies on qemu-io rejecting
unaligned accesses without -p. A later patch may clean up the
interface to be more user-friendly, but it's better to separate
what's done under the hood from what the user sees.

Eric Blake 8341f00dc2 block: Allow BDRV_REQ_FUA through blk_pwrite()
We have several block drivers that understand BDRV_REQ_FUA,
and emulate it in the block layer for the rest by a full flush.
But without a way to actually request BDRV_REQ_FUA during a
pass-through blk_pwrite(), FUA-aware block drivers like NBD are
forced to repeat the emulation logic of a full flush regardless
of whether the backend they are writing to could do it more
efficiently.

This patch just wires up a flags argument; followup patches
will actually make use of it in the NBD driver and in qemu-io.

Kevin Wolf 61de4c6808 block: Remove BDRV_O_CACHE_WB
The previous patches have successively made blk->enable_write_cache the
true source for the information whether a writethrough mode must be
implemented. The corresponding BDRV_O_CACHE_WB is only useless baggage
we're carrying around, so now's the time to remove it.

At the same time, we remove the 'cache.writeback' option parsing on the
BDS level as the only effect was setting the BDRV_O_CACHE_WB flag.

This change requires test cases that explicitly enabled the option to
drop it. Other than that and the change of the error message when
writethrough is enabled on the BDS level (from "Can't set writethrough
mode" to "doesn't support the option"), there should be no change in
behaviour.

Markus Armbruster da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

qemu-io should behave like a guest, therefore it should use BlockBackend
to access the block layer.

There are a couple of places where that is infeasible: First, the
bdrv_debug_* functions could theoretically be mirrored in the
BlockBackend, but since these are functions internal to the block layer,
they should not be visible externally (qemu-io as a test tool is exempt
from this).

Second, bdrv_get_info() and bdrv_get_specific_info() work on a single
BDS alone, therefore they should stay BDS-specific.

Third, bdrv_is_allocated() mainly works on a single BDS as well. Some
data may be passed through from the BDS's file (if sectors which are
apparently allocated in the file are not really allocated there but just
zero).

Perhaps a conversion to g_malloc_n() would be neater in places, but

Stefan Weil f988388025 qemu-io: Fix warnings from static code analysis
Smatch complains about several global symbols which should be local.

Add the missing 'static' attributes and move the 'extern' declaration
of variable qemuio_misalign to qemu-io.h. This variable also changes
the type from 'int' to 'bool' which better fits documents its use.

Max Reitz a8d8ecb77f block/qapi: Human-readable ImageInfoSpecific dump
Add a function for generically dumping the ImageInfoSpecific information
in a human-readable format to block/qapi.c.

Use this function in bdrv_image_info_dump and qemu-io-cmds.c:info_f to
allow qemu-img info resp. qemu-io -c info to print that format specific
information.

Paolo Bonzini d663640c04 block: expect errors from bdrv_co_is_allocated
Some bdrv_is_allocated callers do not expect errors, but the fallback
in qcow2.c might make other callers trip on assertion failures or

Fix the callers to always look for errors.
