ec87b5daca roms/efirom, tests/uefi-test-tools: update edk2's own submodules first
In edk2 commit 06033f5abad3 ("BaseTools: Make brotli a submodule",
2020-04-16), part of edk2-stable202005, the Brotli compressor /
decompressor source code that edk2 had flattened into BaseTools was
replaced with a git submodule.

This means we have to initialize edk2's own submodules before building
BaseTools not just in "roms/Makefile.edk2", but in "roms/Makefile" (for
the sake of the "efirom" target) and "tests/uefi-test-tools/Makefile" as
well.

Right now this patch is effectively a no-op; it will become meaningful
after we move the edk2 submodule to edk2-stable202008.

9ed02fbb84 ipxe: drop ia32 efi roms
UEFI on ia32 never really took off. Basically the BIOS -> UEFI shift
came too late, x64 was widespread already, so vendors went from BIOS
straight to UEFI on x64.

00db05fbed roms/Makefile: Build the generic platform for RISC-V OpenSBI firmware
The RISC-V generic platform is a flattened device tree (FDT) based
platform where all platform specific functionality is provided based
on FDT passed by previous booting stage. The support was added in
the upstream OpenSBI v0.8 release recently.

Update our Makefile to build the generic platform instead of building
virt and sifive_u separately for RISC-V OpenSBI firmware, and change
to use fw_dynamic type images as well.

Due to 1.14 release being delayed it missed qemu 5.1.
The last snapshot has all code changes though, so this

de15df5ead seabios: update submodule to pre-1.14 master snapshot
seabios 1.14 release is planned for end of july,
early enough to make it into qemu 5.1-rc2 if
everything goes as planned.

Update seabios to a master snapshot now, so it'll get
test coverage during the freeze and the update to the
final version is much smaller (and should have bugfixes
only).

47fee64be6 roms/edk2-funcs: Force softfloat ARM toolchain prefix on Debian
The Debian (based) distributions currently provides 2 ARM
toolchains, documented as [1]:

* The ARM EABI (armel) port targets a range of older 32-bit ARM
devices, particularly those used in NAS hardware and a variety
  of *plug computers.
* The newer ARM hard-float (armhf) port supports newer, more
powerful 32-bit devices using version 7 of the ARM architecture
  specification.

For various reasons documented in [2], the EDK2 project suggests
to use the softfloat toolchain (named 'armel' by Debian).

Force the softfloat cross toolchain prefix on Debian distributions.

037973bb0d edk2 build scripts: work around TianoCore#1607 without forcing Python 2
It turns out that forcing python2 for running the edk2 "build" utility is
neither necessary nor sufficient.

Forcing python2 is not sufficient for two reasons:

- QEMU is moving away from python2, with python2 nearing EOL,

- according to my most recent testing, the lacking dependency information
in the makefiles that are generated by edk2's "build" utility can cause
parallel build failures even when "build" is executed by python2.

And forcing python2 is not necessary because we can still return to the
original idea of filtering out jobserver-related options from MAKEFLAGS.
So do that.

While at it, cut short edk2's auto-detection of the python3.* minor
version, by setting PYTHON_COMMAND to "python3" (which we expect to be
available wherever we intend to build edk2).

With this patch, the guest UEFI binaries that are used as part of the BIOS
tables test, and the OVMF and ArmVirtQemu platform firmwares, will be
built strictly in a single job, regardless of an outermost "-jN" make
option. Alas, there appears to be no reliable way to build edk2 in an
(outer make, inner make) environment, with a jobserver enabled.

Various C projects provide a 'make help' target. Our root directory

f3e330e3c3 roms/Makefile.edk2: don't pull in submodules when building from tarball
Currently the `make efi` target pulls submodules nested under the
roms/edk2 submodule as dependencies. However, when we attempt to build
from a tarball this fails since we are no longer in a git tree.

A preceding patch will pre-populate these submodules in the tarball,
so assume this build dependency is only needed when building from a
git tree.

roms: Add OpenSBI version 0.4
Add OpenSBI version 0.4 as a git submodule and as a prebult binary.

OpenSBI (https://github.com/riscv/opensbi) aims to provide an open-source
reference implementation of the RISC-V Supervisor Binary Interface (SBI)
specifications for platform-specific firmwares executing in M-mode. For all
supported platforms, OpenSBI provides several runtime firmware examples.
These example firmwares can be used to replace the legacy riscv-pk bootloader
and enable the use of well-known bootloaders such as U-Boot.

OpenSBI is distributed under the terms of the BSD 2-clause license
("Simplified BSD License" or "FreeBSD License", SPDX: BSD-2-Clause). OpenSBI

In this case all of the code we are using from OpenSBI is BSD 2-clause
as we aren't using the Kendryte code (Apache-2.0) with QEMU and libfdt
is dual licensed as BSD 2-clause (and GPL-2.0+). OpenSBI isn't being
linked with QEMU either it is just being included with QEMU.

9153b9d740 roms/Makefile.edk2: update input file list for "pc-bios/edk2-licenses.txt"
(1) For TianoCore Bugzilla

      https://bugzilla.tianocore.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1373

the majority of the edk2 tree was relicensed under the
    BSD-2-Clause-Patent license:

      https://spdx.org/licenses/BSD-2-Clause-Patent.html>

    Edk2 commit f53de8aecb12 ("edk2: Add License-History.txt", 2019-04-09)
added a new file called "License-History.txt", describing license and
    contributor agreement changes over time.

(2) For advacing edk2's OpenSSL git submodule to the 1.1.1b release, a
more up-to-date ArmSoftFloatLib instance became necessary, on 32-bit
ARM. Therefore, the embedded (and by now, obsolete) Berkeley SoftFloat
library was replaced with a git submodule of the same, checked out at
the latest release ("3e", plus a typo fix on top -- commit
b64af41c3276). This was implemented for TianoCore Bugzilla

      https://bugzilla.tianocore.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1845

    in edk2 commit range b6cfa686e42d..371e7001e8d5.

Include the edk2 project's "License-History.txt" file, and the Berkeley
SoftFloat library's "COPYING.txt", in our generated
"pc-bios/edk2-licenses.txt" text file.

flags with "NETWORK_", for building edk2 at tag "edk2-stable201905".

Right now the new flags are no-ops, so we can insert them separately,
before advancing our edk2 submodule reference. We will remove the old
flags afterwards.

652141e49e roms: Correct the EDK2_BASETOOLS_OPTFLAGS variable description
In commit 1cab464136 we incorrectly described the
EDK2_BASETOOLS_OPTFLAGS can pass CPPFLAGS and CFLAGS
options to the EDK2 build tools, but it only expands
the CFLAGS (not to the CPPFLAGS).
Update the description to be more accurate.

536d2173b2 roms: build edk2 firmware binaries and variable store templates
Add the "efi" target to "Makefile".

Introduce "Makefile.edk2" for building and cleaning the firmware images
and varstore templates.

ee5ef780de roms/Makefile: replace the $(EDK2_EFIROM) target with "edk2-basetools"
We don't (can't) have a recipe for building just $(EDK2_EFIROM);
therefore, while we call the target $(EDK2_EFIROM), we actually build all
of the edk2 BaseTools. Rename the target to edk2-basetools, and update the
iPXE prerequisite accordingly. This will let other targets depend on
"edk2-basetools", where an $(EDK2_EFIROM) pre-requisite would be
misleading.

fd75d2c2ee roms/edk2-funcs.sh: add the qemu_edk2_get_thread_count() function
The edk2 "build" utility natively supports building modules (that is, INF
files) in parallel. The feature is not useful when building a single
module (with the "-m" option), but it is useful for platform firmware
builds (which include many modules). Add a function that determines the
"-n" option argument for "build", from the MAKEFLAGS variable (i.e. based
on the presence of a make job server).

Since commit f590a812c2 we build the EDK2 EfiRom utility

d912e795e0 roms: Rename the EFIROM variable to avoid clashing with iPXE
The iPXE's 'veryclean' recipe removes $(EFIROM) even if the EFIROM
macro originates from elsewhere:

  $ git checkout f590a812c21~
  $ make -C roms clean EFIROM=$(type -P EfiRom)
  make: Entering directory '/source/qemu/roms'
  [...]
  make -C ipxe/src veryclean
  make[1]: Entering directory '/source/qemu/roms/ipxe/src'
  rm -f bin{,-*}/*.* bin{,-*}/.certificate.* bin{,-*}/.certificates.* bin{,-*}/.private_key.* bin{,-*}/errors bin{,-*}/NIC ./util/zbin ./util/elf2efi32 ./util/elf2efi64 /usr/bin/EfiRom ./util/efifatbin ./util/iccfix ./util/einfo TAGS bin{,-*}/symtab
rm: cannot remove '/usr/bin/EfiRom': Permission denied
  make[1]: *** [Makefile.housekeeping:1564: clean] Error 1
  make[1]: Leaving directory '/source/qemu/roms/ipxe/src'
  make: *** [Makefile:152: clean] Error 2
  make: Leaving directory '/source/qemu/roms'

Before f590a812c2 this variable could be overridden or unset,
and the 'veryclean' Makefile rule would not complain.

Commit f590a812c2 enforces this variable to the Intel EfiRom
tool provided by the EDK2 project.

To avoid the name clash and make the difference between the
projects obvious, rename the variable used by the EDK2 project
as EDK2_EFIROM.

2b42f31eae Update seabios-hppa to latest upstream
This patch fixes two issues in the hppa/parisc emulation:

1. The CPU HPA was wrong in the sense that we had negative module
offsets in the firmware-internal module table (which we ignored up to
now). Get it correct by changing the CPU HPA to 0xfffb0000 which is
greater than the DINO_HPA of 0xfff80000.
This change requires the seabios-firmware update.

2. Sven noticed that the FPU register cr10 is only able to reference up
to 8 FPUs, so let's reduce the maximum amount of SMP CPUs too.

f590a812c2 roms: build the EfiRom utility from the roms/edk2 submodule
Building the EfiRom utility from "roms/edk2/BaseTools" should make
"roms/Makefile" more self-contained. Otherwise, we'd call the system-wide
EfiRom for building the combined iPXE option ROMs, but call the sibling
utilities from "roms/edk2/BaseTools" for building "roms/edk2" content.

23858f4092 roms: add the edk2 project as a git submodule
The roms/edk2 submodule can help with three goals:
- build the OVMF and ArmVirtQemu virtual UEFI firmware platforms (to be
  implemented later),
- build the EfiRom tool on the fly, which is used in roms/Makefile, for
  building the "efirom" target,
- build UEFI test applications (to be run in guests), for qtest support.

Edk2 commit 85588389222a3636baf0f9ed8227f2434af4c3f9 stands for the latest
"stable tag", namely "edk2-stable201811".

The edk2 repository tracks some binary files that should not be removed by
QEMU's top-level "make clean"; exempt the full pathnames from the "find"
command.

91b8eba9ec vgabios: remove submodule and build rules.
It's the old, lgpl vgabios implementation.

Was left in as fallback when we switched to seavgabios, so we could
easily switch back in case we see regressions. It's unused since years
now, reportedly doesn't even build, and lacks support for recently (and
not so recently) added display devices.

Zap it.

eda553a442 seabios: enable ide dma
QNX reportedly requires this to boot.
Should also speed up booting other guests.

Note: Upstream seabios defaults this to 'n' to due to known problems
on physical hardware (qemu not affected), and wouldn't flip the default
to 'y'. So we adjust our local build config accordingly.

75056cef41 seabios: add vga configs for bochs-display and ramfb
Both bochs-display and ramfb are devices with a simple framebuffer and
no vga emulation or text mode. seavgabios has support for text mode
emulation (at vgabios call level), we are using that to provide some
vga compatibility support for these devices.
