6b6e7570d6 hw/i2c: Implement NPCM7XX SMBus Module FIFO Mode
This patch implements the FIFO mode of the SMBus module. In FIFO, the
user transmits or receives at most 16 bytes at a time. The FIFO mode
allows the module to transmit large amount of data faster than single
byte mode.

Since we only added the device in a patch that is only a few commits
away in the same patch set. We do not increase the VMstate version
number in this special case.

94e7787939 hw/i2c: Implement NPCM7XX SMBus Module Single Mode
This commit implements the single-byte mode of the SMBus.

Each Nuvoton SoC has 16 System Management Bus (SMBus). These buses
compliant with SMBus and I2C protocol.

This patch implements the single-byte mode of the SMBus. In this mode,
the user sends or receives a byte each time. The SMBus device transmits
it to the underlying i2c device and sends an interrupt back to the QEMU
guest.

61f3c91a67 nomaintainer: Fix Lesser GPL version number
There is no "version 2" of the "Lesser" General Public License.
It is either "GPL version 2.0" or "Lesser GPL version 2.1".
This patch replaces all occurrences of "Lesser GPL version 2" with
"Lesser GPL version 2.1" in comment section.

This patch contains all the files, whose maintainer I could not get
from ‘get_maintainer.pl’ script.

db1015e92e Move QOM typedefs and add missing includes
Some typedefs and macros are defined after the type check macros.
This makes it difficult to automatically replace their
definitions with OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE.

Patch generated using:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i \
   --pattern=QOMStructTypedefSplit $(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')

which will split "typdef struct { ... } TypedefName"
declarations.

Followed by:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i --pattern=MoveSymbols \

which will:
- move the typedefs and #defines above the type check macros
- add missing #include "qom/object.h" lines if necessary

243af0225a trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires
Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path.  In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).

In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".

This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now.  It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

1373b15bb5 hw/i2c: Rename i2c_create_slave() as i2c_slave_create_simple()
We use "create_simple" names for functions that allocate, initialize,
configure and realize device objects: pci_create_simple(),
isa_create_simple(), usb_create_simple(). For consistency, rename
i2c_create_slave() as i2c_slave_create_simple(). Since we have
to update all the callers, also let it return a I2CSlave object.

7a204cbdc2 hw/i2c/aspeed_i2c: Simplify aspeed_i2c_get_bus()
All the callers of aspeed_i2c_get_bus() have a AspeedI2CState and
cast it to a DeviceState with DEVICE(), then aspeed_i2c_get_bus()
cast the DeviceState to an AspeedI2CState with ASPEED_I2C()...

Simplify aspeed_i2c_get_bus() callers by using AspeedI2CState
argument.

ae163b8d95 hw/i2c/Kconfig: Add an entry for the SMBus
The System Management Bus is more or less a derivative of the I2C
bus, thus the Kconfig entry depends of I2C.
Not all boards providing an I2C bus support SMBus.
Use two different Kconfig entries to be able to select I2C without
selecting SMBus.

d88c42ff2c hw/i2c/core: Add i2c_try_create_slave() and i2c_realize_and_unref()
Extract i2c_try_create_slave() and i2c_realize_and_unref()
from i2c_create_slave().
We can now set properties on a I2CSlave before it is realized.

This is in line with the recent qdev/QOM changes merged
in commit 6675a653d2.

f61c3fb56b hw/i2c: Add header for ARM SBCon two-wire serial bus interface
'ARM SBCon two-wire serial bus interface' is the official
name describing the pair of registers used to bitbanging
I2C in the Versatile boards.

Make the private VersatileI2CState structure as public
ArmSbconI2CState.
Add the TYPE_ARM_SBCON_I2C, alias to our current
TYPE_VERSATILE_I2C model.
Rename the memory region description as 'arm_sbcon_i2c'.

8e5c952b37 hw: Remove unnecessary DEVICE() cast
The DEVICE() macro is defined as:

  #define DEVICE(obj) OBJECT_CHECK(DeviceState, (obj), TYPE_DEVICE)

which expands to:

  ((DeviceState *)object_dynamic_cast_assert((Object *)(obj), (name),
                                             __FILE__, __LINE__,
                                             __func__))

This assertion can only fail when @obj points to something other
than its stated type, i.e. when we're in undefined behavior country.

Remove the unnecessary DEVICE() casts when we already know the
pointer is of DeviceState type.

32c82f0eaf smbus: Fix spd_data_generate() for number of banks > 2
spd_data_generate() splits @ram_size bytes into @nbanks RAM banks of
1 << sz_log2 MiB each, like this:

    size = ram_size >> 20; /* work in terms of megabytes */
    [...]
    nbanks = 1;
    while (sz_log2 > max_log2 && nbanks < 8) {
        sz_log2--;
        nbanks++;
    }

Each iteration halves the size of a bank, and increments the number of
banks.  Wrong: it should double the number of banks.

The bug goes back all the way to commit b296b664ab "smbus: Add a
helper to generate SPD EEPROM data".

It can't bite because spd_data_generate()'s current users pass only
@ram_size that result in *zero* iterations:

Apply the obvious, minimal fix.  I admit I'm tempted to rip out the
unused (and obviously untested) feature instead, because YAGNI.

Note that this is not the final result, as spd_data_generate() next
increases #banks from 1 to 2 if possible.  This is done "to avoid a
bug in MIPS Malta firmware".  We don't even use this function with
machine type malta.  *Shrug*

f26740c61a smbus: Fix spd_data_generate() error API violation
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL.  Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call.

spd_data_generate() can pass @errp to error_setg() more than once when
it adjusts both memory size and type.  Harmless, because no caller
passes anything that needs adjusting.  Until the previous commit,
sam460ex passed types that needed adjusting, but not sizes.

spd_data_generate()'s contract is rather awkward:

    If everything's fine, return non-null and don't set an error.

    Else, if memory size or type need adjusting, return non-null and
    set an error describing the adjustment.

    Else, return null and set an error reporting why no data can be
    generated.

Its callers treat the error as a warning even when null is returned.
They don't create the "smbus-eeprom" device then.  Suspicious.

Since the previous commit, only "everything's fine" can actually
happen.  Drop the unused code and simplify the callers.  This gets rid
of the error API violation.

3ab5a6ece5 hw/*/Makefile.objs: Move many .o files to common-objs
We have many files that apparently do not depend on the target CPU
configuration, i.e. which can be put into common-obj-y instead of
obj-y. This way, the code can be shared for example between
qemu-system-arm and qemu-system-aarch64, or the various big and
little endian variants like qemu-system-sh4 and qemu-system-sh4eb,
so that we do not have to compile the code multiple times anymore.

1df2c9a26f migration: Define VMSTATE_INSTANCE_ID_ANY
Define the new macro VMSTATE_INSTANCE_ID_ANY for callers who wants to
auto-generate the vmstate instance ID.  Previously it was hard coded
as -1 instead of this macro.  It helps to change this default value in
the follow up patches.  No functional change.

545d6bef70 aspeed/i2c: Add support for DMA transfers
The I2C controller of the Aspeed AST2500 and AST2600 SoCs supports DMA
transfers to and from DRAM.

A pair of registers defines the buffer address and the length of the
DMA transfer. The address should be aligned on 4 bytes and the maximum
length should not exceed 4K. The receive or transmit DMA transfer can
then be initiated with specific bits in the Command/Status register of
the controller.

6054fc73e8 aspeed/i2c: Add support for pool buffer transfers
The Aspeed I2C controller can operate in different transfer modes :

  - Byte Buffer mode, using a dedicated register to transfer a
    byte. This is what the model supports today.

  - Pool Buffer mode, using an internal SRAM to transfer multiple
    bytes in the same command sequence.

Each SoC has different SRAM characteristics. On the AST2400, 2048
bytes of SRAM are available at offset 0x800 of the controller AHB
window. The pool buffer can be configured from 1 to 256 bytes per bus.

On the AST2500, the SRAM is at offset 0x200 and the pool buffer is of
16 bytes per bus.

On the AST2600, the SRAM is at offset 0xC00 and the pool buffer is of
32 bytes per bus. It can be splitted in two for TX and RX but the
current model does not add support for it as it it unused by known
drivers.

d5938f29fe Clean up inclusion of sysemu/sysemu.h
In my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h triggers a
recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

Almost a third of its inclusions are actually superfluous.  Delete
them.  Downgrade two more to qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h, and move one
from char/serial.h to char/serial.c.

hw/semihosting/config.c, monitor/monitor.c, qdev-monitor.c, and
stubs/semihost.c define variables declared in sysemu/sysemu.h without
including it.  The compiler is cool with that, but include it anyway.

This doesn't reduce actual use much, as it's still included into
widely included headers.  The next commit will tackle that.

In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers
a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h)
actually need only hw/qdev-core.h.  Include hw/qdev-core.h there
instead.

hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h
and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h.
Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h.

While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h.

Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects.

41742927ee hw/i2c/bitbang_i2c: Use in-place rather than malloc'd bitbang_i2c_interface struct
Currently the bitbang_i2c_init() function allocates a
bitbang_i2c_interface struct which it returns.  This is unfortunate
because it means that if the function is used from a DeviceState
init method then the memory will be leaked by an "init then delete"
cycle, as used by the qmp/hmp commands that list device properties.

Since three out of four of the uses of this function are in
device init methods, switch the function to do an in-place
initialization of a struct that can be embedded in the
device state struct of the caller.

This fixes LeakSanitizer leak warnings that have appeared in the
patchew configuration (which only tries to run the sanitizers
for the x86_64-softmmu target) now that we use the bitbang-i2c
code in an x86-64 config.

d718b7475b i2c: Move bitbang_i2c.h to include/hw/i2c/
The bitbang i2c implementation is also useful for other device models
such as DDC in display controllers. Move the header to include/hw/i2c/
to allow it to be used from other device models and adjust users of
this include. This also reverts commit 2b4c1125ac which is no longer
needed.

6086e30026 hw/i2c/smbus_ich9: Fix the confusing contributions-after-2012 statement
The license information in this file is rather confusing. The text
declares LGPL first, but then says that contributions after Jan 2012
are licensed under the GPL instead. How should the average user who
just downloaded the release tarball know which part is now GPL and
which is LGPL? Also, as far as I can see, the file has been added to
QEMU *after* January in 2012, so the whole file should be GPL by
default instead.

Furthermore, looking at the text of the LGPL (see COPYING.LIB in the
top directory), the license clearly states in section "3." that one
should rather replace the license information in such a case instead.
Thus let's clean up the confusing statements and use the proper GPL
text only.
