g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer,
for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t.
Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch
more type errors.
This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form
sizeof(T).
Patch created mechanically with:

The test_visitor_out_list_union_FOO() use simple union
UserDefListUnion to cover lists of builtin types. Rewrite as
test_visitor_out_list_struct(), using struct ArrayStruct and a lot
less code.

The main tests directory still looks very crowded, and it's not
clear which files are part of a unit tests and which belong to
a different test subsystem. Let's clean up the mess and move the
unit tests to a separate directory.
