6f3fbe4ed0 net: Introduce e1000e device emulation
This patch introduces emulation for the Intel 82574 adapter, AKA e1000e.

This implementation is derived from the e1000 emulation code, and
utilizes the TX/RX packet abstractions that were initially developed for
the vmxnet3 device. Although some parts of the introduced code may be
shared with e1000, the differences are substantial enough so that the
only shared resources for the two devices are the definitions in
hw/net/e1000_regs.h.

Similarly to vmxnet3, the new device uses virtio headers for task
offloads (for backends that support virtio extensions). Usage of
virtio headers may be forcibly disabled via a boolean device property
"vnet" (which is enabled by default). In such case task offloads
will be performed in software, in the same way it is done on
backends that do not support virtio headers.

The device code is split into two parts:

  1. hw/net/e1000e.c: QEMU-specific code for a network device;
  2. hw/net/e1000e_core.[hc]: Device emulation according to the spec.

The new device name is e1000e.

Intel specifications for the 82574 controller are available at:

605d52e62f net_pkt: Name vmxnet3 packet abstractions more generic
This patch drops "vmx" prefix from packet abstractions names
to emphasize the fact they are generic and not tied to any
specific network device.

These abstractions will be reused by e1000e emulation implementation
introduced by following patches so their names need generalization.

This patch (except renamed files, adjusted comments and changes in MAINTAINTERS)
was produced by:

c9a19d5b95 MAINTAINERS: add all-match entry for qemu-devel@
Add an entry to MAINTAINERS that matches every patch, and requests the
user send patches to qemu-devel@nongnu.org.

It's not 100% obvious to project newcomers that all patches should be sent
there; checkpatch doesn't say so, and since it mentions other lists to CC,
the wording "the list" from the SubmitAPatch wiki page can be taken
to mean only those lists, not the main list too.

The F: entries were taken from a similar entry in the Linux kernel.

666a3af9c8 io: add abstract QIOChannel classes
Start the new generic I/O channel framework by defining a
QIOChannel abstract base class. This is designed to feel
similar to GLib's GIOChannel, but with the addition of
support for using iovecs, qemu error reporting, file
descriptor passing, coroutine integration and use of
the QOM framework for easier sub-classing.

The intention is that anywhere in QEMU that almost
anywhere that deals with sockets will use this new I/O
infrastructure, so that it becomes trivial to then layer
in support for TLS encryption. This will at least include
the VNC server, char device backend and migration code.

10817bf09d coroutine: move into libqemuutil.a library
The coroutine files are currently referenced by the block-obj-y
variable. The coroutine functionality though is already used by
more than just the block code. eg migration code uses coroutine
yield. In the future the I/O channel code will also use the
coroutine yield functionality. Since the coroutine code is nicely
self-contained it can be easily built as part of the libqemuutil.a
library, making it widely available.

The headers are also moved into include/qemu, instead of the
include/block directory, since they are now part of the util
codebase, and the impl was never in the block/ directory
either.

ddbb0d0966 crypto: introduce new module for computing hash digests
Introduce a new crypto/ directory that will (eventually) contain
all the cryptographic related code. This initially defines a
wrapper for initializing gnutls and for computing hashes with
gnutls. The former ensures that gnutls is guaranteed to be
initialized exactly once in QEMU regardless of CLI args. The
block quorum code currently fails to initialize gnutls so it
only works by luck, if VNC server TLS is not requested. The
hash APIs avoids the need to litter the rest of the code with
preprocessor checks and simplifies callers by allocating the
correct amount of memory for the requested hash.

c9a12e751b block: Support Archipelago as a QEMU block backend
VM Image on Archipelago volume is specified like this:

file.driver=archipelago,file.volume=<volumename>[,file.mport=<mapperd_port>[,
file.vport=<vlmcd_port>][,file.segment=<segment_name>]]

'archipelago' is the protocol.

'mport' is the port number on which mapperd is listening. This is optional
and if not specified, QEMU will make Archipelago to use the default port.

'vport' is the port number on which vlmcd is listening. This is optional
and if not specified, QEMU will make Archipelago to use the default port.

'segment' is the name of the shared memory segment Archipelago stack is using.
This is optional and if not specified, QEMU will make Archipelago to use the
default value, 'archipelago'.

62622c11f2 MAINTAINERS: addresses for responsible disclosure
Adding addresses to MAINTAINERS, as agreed on the last conference call:

http://wiki.qemu.org/SecurityProcess

People sometimes detect security issues in upstream
QEMU and don't know where to report them in a non-public way.
Of course whoever just wants full disclosure can just go public,
but there's nothing specified for non-public - until recently Anthony
was doing this informally.

As I started doing this recently anyway, I can handle this on the QEMU side
in a more formal way.

Adding a secalert mailing list as well - they are the ones who is actually
opening CVEs, communicating issues to all downstreams etc,
and they are already handling this for upstream, not just Red Hat.

Keeping Anthony's address around in case he wants to be informed.

Peter Maydell said that he prefers not to be on this contact list at
this point.

A public mailing list has been created - not listing it here yet -
until we know how to set it up in a secure fashion and
until there are more people so manually copying everyone
becomes unwieldy for reporters.

6542aa9c75 block: add native support for NFS
This patch adds native support for accessing images on NFS
shares without the requirement to actually mount the entire
NFS share on the host.

NFS Images can simply be specified by an url of the form:
nfs://<host>/<export>/<filename>[?param=value[&param2=value2[&...]]]

For example:
qemu-img create -f qcow2 nfs://10.0.0.1/qemu-images/test.qcow2

You need LibNFS from Ronnie Sahlberg available at:
   git://github.com/sahlberg/libnfs.git
for this to work.

During configure it is automatically probed for libnfs and support
is enabled on-the-fly. You can forbid or enforce libnfs support
with --disable-libnfs or --enable-libnfs respectively.

Due to NFS restrictions you might need to execute your binaries
as root, allow them to open priviledged ports (<1024) or specify
insecure option on the NFS server.

For additional information on ROOT vs. non-ROOT operation and URL
format + parameters see:
   https://raw.github.com/sahlberg/libnfs/master/README

Supported by qemu are the uid, gid and tcp-syncnt URL parameters.

LibNFS currently support NFS version 3 only.

5d0e2280cc acpi.pci,pc,memory core fixes
Most notably this includes changes to exec to support
 full 64 bit addresses.

This also flushes out patches that got queued during 1.7 freeze.
There are new tests, and a bunch of bug fixes all over the place.
There are also some changes mostly useful for downstreams.

I'm also listing myself as pc co-maintainer. I'm doing this reluctantly,
but this seems to be necessary to make sure patches are not lost or delayed too
much, and posting the MAINTAINERS patch did not seem to make anyone else
 volunteer.

8593898109 Use qemu-project.org domain name
qemu.org is held by a third-party and no core community contributor has
access to the DNS configuration. This leaves the website exposed to
outages due to DNS issues or IP address changes. For example, if the
web server IP address needs to change we cannot guarantee qemu.org will
point to it!

The newer qemu-project.org domain name is owned by Anthony Liguori
<anthony@codemonkey.ws>. You can confirm this by querying the whois
information. Also note that the #qemu IRC channel topic already
references qemu-project.org.

Short of having a dedicated legal entity to hold the domain name on
behalf of the community, qemu-project.org seems like the safest bet.

Let's replace references to qemu.org with qemu-project.org.

Note that git-submodule(1) does not detect URL changes. The following
commands clear out and re-initialize all submodules to ensure you are
using the latest URLs:

$ git submodule deinit . # you'll be warned if you have local changes
$ rm -rf .git/modules # also clear cached .git/ directories
  $ git submodule update --init

lack of bandwidth and lack of background in so many different areas

In order to help me mitigate this problem, I'm adding Eric and Markus

Markus has been an old timer reviewer. Eric is being the most active

I believe Markus and Eric will keep doing their work as before, but
starting now I'll require the ACK of at least one of them before
appling a patch/series that touches the qapi-schema.json file.

Andreas Färber
62e0c09545 MAINTAINERS: Include X86CPU in CPU maintenance area
Document that the x86 CPU refactorings are going through the qom-cpu
tree. This does not contradict the established practice that patches
adding KVM features to the x86 CPU go through the KVM maintainers,
it merely takes it out of target-i386 TCG's Odd Fixes status.

92e1fb5ed1 vfio: Enable vfio-pci and mark supported
Enabled for all softmmu guests supporting PCI on Linux hosts. Note
that currently only x86 hosts have the kernel side VFIO IOMMU support
for this. PPC (g3beige) is the only non-x86 guest known to work.
ARM (veratile) hangs in firmware, others untested.
