Eduardo Habkost db1015e92e Move QOM typedefs and add missing includes
Some typedefs and macros are defined after the type check macros.
This makes it difficult to automatically replace their
definitions with OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE.

Patch generated using:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i \
   --pattern=QOMStructTypedefSplit $(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')

which will split "typdef struct { ... } TypedefName"
declarations.

Followed by:

 $ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i --pattern=MoveSymbols \

which will:
- move the typedefs and #defines above the type check macros
- add missing #include "qom/object.h" lines if necessary

Markus Armbruster 5325cc34a2 qom: Put name parameter before value / visitor parameter
The object_property_set_FOO() setters take property name and value in
an unusual order:

    void object_property_set_FOO(Object *obj, FOO_TYPE value,
                                 const char *name, Error **errp)

Having to pass value before name feels grating.  Swap them.

Same for object_property_set(), object_property_get(), and
object_property_parse().

Markus Armbruster 934df91296 qdev: Make qdev_prop_set_drive() match the other helpers
qdev_prop_set_drive() can fail.  None of the other qdev_prop_set_FOO()
can; they abort on error.

To clean up this inconsistency, rename qdev_prop_set_drive() to
qdev_prop_set_drive_err(), and create a qdev_prop_set_drive() that
aborts on error.

Markus Armbruster 9fc7fc4d39 qom: Less verbose object_initialize_child()
All users of object_initialize_child() pass the obvious child size
argument.  Almost all pass &error_abort and no properties.  Tiresome.

Rename object_initialize_child() to
object_initialize_child_with_props() to free the name.  New
convenience wrapper object_initialize_child() automates the size
argument, and passes &error_abort and no properties.

Rename object_initialize_childv() to
object_initialize_child_with_propsv() for consistency.

Markus Armbruster d2623129a7 qom: Drop parameter @errp of object_property_add() & friends
The only way object_property_add() can fail is when a property with
the same name already exists.  Since our property names are all
hardcoded, failure is a programming error, and the appropriate way to
handle it is passing &error_abort.

Same for its variants, except for object_property_add_child(), which
additionally fails when the child already has a parent.  Parentage is
also under program control, so this is a programming error, too.

We have a bit over 500 callers.  Almost half of them pass
&error_abort, slightly fewer ignore errors, one test case handles
errors, and the remaining few callers pass them to their own callers.

The previous few commits demonstrated once again that ignoring
programming errors is a bad idea.

Of the few ones that pass on errors, several violate the Error API.
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL.  Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call.  ich9_pm_add_properties(), sparc32_ledma_realize(),
sparc32_dma_realize(), xilinx_axidma_realize(), xilinx_enet_realize()
are wrong that way.

When the one appropriate choice of argument is &error_abort, letting
users pick the argument is a bad idea.

Drop parameter @errp and assert the preconditions instead.

There's one exception to "duplicate property name is a programming
error": the way object_property_add() implements the magic (and
undocumented) "automatic arrayification".  Don't drop @errp there.
Instead, rename object_property_add() to object_property_try_add(),
and add the obvious wrapper object_property_add().

Igor Mammedov a4317ae8ba arm/raspi: use memdev for RAM
memory_region_allocate_system_memory() API is going away, so
replace it with memdev allocated MemoryRegion. The later is
initialized by generic code, so board only needs to opt in
to memdev scheme by providing
    MachineClass::default_ram_id
and using MachineState::ram instead of manually initializing
RAM memory region.

We added a helper to extract the RAM size from the board
revision, and made board_rev a field of RaspiMachineClass.
The class_init() can now use the helper to extract from the
board revision the board-specific amount of RAM.

to extract the RAM size, and use it.
Since the amount of RAM is fixed (it is impossible to physically
modify to have more or less RAM), do not allow sizes different
than the one anounced by the manufacturer.

Philippe Mathieu-Daudé 918c81a53e hw/arm/raspi: Use BCM2708 machine type with pre Device Tree kernels
When booting without device tree, the Linux kernels uses the $R1
register to determine the machine type. The list of values is
registered at [1].

There are two entries for the Raspberry Pi:

QEMU always used the non-mainlined type MACH_TYPE_BCM2708.
The value 0xc43 is registered to 'MX51_GGC' (processor i.MX51), and
0xc44 to 'Western Digital Sharespace NAS' (processor Marvell 88F5182).

The Raspberry Pi foundation bootloader only sets the BCM2708 machine
type, see [2] or [3]:

While the definition MACH_BCM2709 with value 0xc43 was introduced in
a commit described "Add 2709 platform for Raspberry Pi 2" out of the
mainline Linux kernel, it does not seem used, and the platform is
introduced with Device Tree support anyway (see [5] and [6]).

Remove the unused values (0xc43 introduced in commit 1df7d1f930
"raspi: add raspberry pi 2 machine" and 0xc44 in commit bade58166f
"raspi: Raspberry Pi 3 support"), keeping only MACH_TYPE_BCM2708.

restricted to always use their 4 cores:

Philippe Mathieu-Daudé 0f0736933f hw/arm/raspi: Use AddressSpace when using arm_boot::write_secondary_boot
write_secondary_boot() is used in SMP configurations where the
CPU address space might not be the main System Bus.
The rom_add_blob_fixed_as() function allow us to specify an
address space. Use it to write each boot blob in the corresponding
CPU address space.

Like Xu cc7d44c2e0 hw/arm: Replace global smp variables with machine smp properties
The global smp variables in arm are replaced with smp machine properties.
The init_cpus() and *_create_rpu() are refactored to pass MachineState.

A local variable of the same name would be introduced in the declaration
phase if it's used widely in the context OR replace it on the spot if it's
only used once. No semantic changes.

Philippe Mathieu-Daudé d031379803 hw/arm: Use object_initialize_child for correct reference counting
As explained in commit aff39be0ed97:

  Both functions, object_initialize() and object_property_add_child()
  increase the reference counter of the new object, so one of the
  references has to be dropped afterwards to get the reference
  counting right. Otherwise the child object will not be properly
  cleaned up when the parent gets destroyed.
  Thus let's use now object_initialize_child() instead to get the
  reference counting here right.

While the object_initialize() function doesn't take an
'Error *errp' argument, the object_initialize_child() does.
Since this code is used when a machine is created (and is not
yet running), we deliberately choose to use the &error_abort
argument instead of ignoring errors if an object creation failed.
This choice also matches when using sysbus_init_child_obj(),
since its code is:

Peter Maydell 12ec8bd51e arm: Rename hw/arm/arm.h to hw/arm/boot.h
The header file hw/arm/arm.h now includes only declarations
relating to hw/arm/boot.c functionality. Rename it accordingly,
and adjust its header comment.

The bulk of this commit was created via
 perl -pi -e 's|hw/arm/arm.h|hw/arm/boot.h|' hw/arm/*.c include/hw/arm/*.h

In a few cases we can just delete the #include:
hw/arm/msf2-soc.c, include/hw/arm/aspeed_soc.h and
include/hw/arm/bcm2836.h did not require it.

Peter Maydell ff3dcf28c0 hw/arm/raspi: Diagnose requests for too much RAM
The Raspberry Pi boards have a physical memory map which does
not allow for more than 1GB of RAM. Currently if the user tries
to ask for more then we fail in a confusing way:

$ qemu-system-aarch64 --machine raspi3 -m 8G
Unexpected error in visit_type_uintN() at qapi/qapi-visit-core.c:164:
qemu-system-aarch64: Parameter 'vcram-base' expects uint32_t

Catch this earlier and diagnose it with a more friendly message:

Peter Maydell b901a17245 hw/arm/raspi: Don't bother setting default_cpu_type
In commit 210f47840d, we changed the bcm2836 SoC object to
always create a CPU of the correct type for that SoC model. This
makes the default_cpu_type settings in the MachineClass structs
for the raspi2 and raspi3 boards redundant. We didn't change
those at the time because it would have meant a temporary
regression in a corner case of error handling if the user
requested a non-existing CPU type. The -cpu parse handling
changes in 2278b93941 mean that it no longer implicitly
depends on default_cpu_type for this to work, so we can now
delete the redundant default_cpu_type fields.

Peter Maydell ff72cb6b46 hw/arm/raspi: Provide spin-loop code for AArch64 CPUs
The raspi3 has AArch64 CPUs, which means that our smpboot
code for keeping the secondary CPUs in a pen needs to have
a version for A64 as well as A32. Without this, the
secondary CPUs go into an infinite loop of taking undefined
instruction exceptions.

Peter Maydell 210f47840d hw/arm/bcm2836: Hardcode correct CPU type
Now we have separate types for BCM2386 and BCM2387, we might as well
just hard-code the CPU type they use rather than having it passed
through as an object property. This then lets us put the initialization
of the CPU object in init rather than realize.

Note that this change means that it's no longer possible on
the command line to use -cpu to ask for a different kind of
CPU than the SoC supports. This was never a supported thing to
do anyway; we were just not sanity-checking the command line.

This does require us to only build the bcm2837 object on
TARGET_AARCH64 configs, since otherwise it won't instantiate
due to the missing cortex-a53 device and "make check" will fail.

Peter Maydell 0fd74f03ed hw/arm/bcm2836: Create proper bcm2837 device
The bcm2837 is pretty similar to the bcm2836, but it does have
some differences. Notably, the MPIDR affinity aff1 values it
sets for the CPUs are 0x0, rather than the 0xf that the bcm2836
uses, and if this is wrong Linux will not boot.

Rather than trying to have one device with properties that
configure it differently for the two cases, create two
separate QOM devices for the two SoCs. We use the same approach
as hw/arm/aspeed_soc.c and share code and have a data table
that might differ per-SoC. For the moment the two types don't
actually have different behaviour.

Our BCM2836 type is really a generic one that can be any of
the bcm283x family. Rename it accordingly. We change only
the names which are visible via the header file to the
rest of the QEMU code, leaving private function names
in bcm2836.c as they are.

This is a preliminary to making bcm283x be an abstract
parent class to specific types for the bcm2836 and bcm2837.

Peter Maydell 01e02f5aa7 hw/arm/raspi: Don't do board-setup or secure-boot for raspi3
For the rpi1 and 2 we want to boot the Linux kernel via some
custom setup code that makes sure that the SMC instruction
acts as a no-op, because it's used for cache maintenance.
The rpi3 boots AArch64 kernels, which don't need SMC for
cache maintenance and always expect to be booted non-secure.
Don't fill in the aarch32-specific parts of the binfo struct.

Pekka Enberg 1c3db49d39 raspi: Add "raspi3" machine type
This patch adds a "raspi3" machine type, which can now be selected as
the machine to run on by users via the "-M" command line option to QEMU.

The machine type does *not* ignore memory transaction failures so we
likely need to add some dummy devices later when people run something
more complicated than what I'm using for testing.

Pekka Enberg bade58166f raspi: Raspberry Pi 3 support
This patch adds Raspberry Pi 3 support to hw/arm/raspi.c. The
differences to Pi 2 are:

 - Firmware address
 - Board ID
 - Board revision

The CPU is different too, but that's going to be configured as part of
the machine default CPU when we introduce a new machine type.

The patch was written from scratch by me but the logic is similar to
Zoltán Baldaszti's previous work, which I used as a reference (with
permission from the author):

Emilio G. Cota 7264961934 hw: add .min_cpus and .default_cpus fields to machine_class
max_cpus needs to be an upper bound on the number of vCPUs
initialized; otherwise TCG region initialization breaks.

Some boards initialize a hard-coded number of vCPUs, which is not
captured by the global max_cpus and therefore breaks TCG initialization.
Fix it by adding the .min_cpus field to machine_class.

This commit also changes some user-facing behaviour: we now die if
-smp is below this hard-coded vCPU minimum instead of silently
ignoring the passed -smp value (sometimes announcing this by printing
a warning). However, the introduction of .default_cpus lessens the
likelihood that users will notice this: if -smp isn't set, we now
assign the value in .default_cpus to both smp_cpus and max_cpus. IOW,
if a user does not set -smp, they always get a correct number of vCPUs.

This change fixes 3468b59 ("tcg: enable multiple TCG contexts in
softmmu", 2017-10-24), which broke TCG initialization for some
ARM boards.

Peter Maydell 4672cbd7be hw/arm: Set ignore_memory_transaction_failures for most ARM boards
Set the MachineClass flag ignore_memory_transaction_failures
for almost all ARM boards. This means they retain the legacy
behaviour that accesses to unimplemented addresses will RAZ/WI
rather than aborting, when a subsequent commit adds support
for external aborts.

The exceptions are:
 * virt -- we know that guests won't try to prod devices
   that we don't describe in the device tree or ACPI tables
 * mps2 -- this board was written to use unimplemented-device
   for all the ranges with devices we don't yet handle

New boards should not set the flag, but instead be written
like the mps2.

Markus Armbruster da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef.  Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere.  Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h.  That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h.  Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now.  Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly.  Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h.  Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third.  Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little.  More work is needed for that one.

to query and set framebuffer parameters. As a result of this, the "get
ARM RAM size" query now correctly returns the video RAM base address
(not total RAM size), and the ram-size property is no longer relevant
here.

Grégory ESTRADE 5e9c2a8dac bcm2835_fb: add framebuffer device for Raspberry Pi
The framebuffer occupies the upper portion of memory (64MiB by
default), but it can only be controlled/configured via a system
mailbox or property channel (to be added by a subsequent patch).
