DisplayState interface change (Stefano Stabellini) This patch changes the DisplayState interface adding support for multiple frontends at the same time (sdl and vnc) and implements most of the benefit of the shared_buf patch without the added complexity. Currently DisplayState is managed by sdl (or vnc) and sdl (or vnc) is also responsible for allocating the data and setting the depth. Vga.c (or another backend) will do any necessary conversion. The idea is to change it so that is vga.c (or another backend) together with console.c that fully manage the DisplayState interface allocating data and setting the depth (either 16 or 32 bit, if the guest uses a different resolution or is in text mode, vga.c (or another backend) is in charge of doing the conversion seamlessly). The other idea is that DisplayState supports *multiple* frontends like sdl and vnc; each of them can register some callbacks to be called when a display event occurs. The interesting changes are: - the new structures and related functions in console.h and console.c in particular the following functions are very helpful to manage a DisplaySurface: qemu_create_displaysurface qemu_resize_displaysurface qemu_create_displaysurface_from qemu_free_displaysurface - console_select and qemu_console_resize in console.c this two functions manage multiple consoles on a single host display - moving code around in hw/vga.c as for the shared_buf patch this is necessary to be able to handle a dynamic DisplaySurface bpp - changes to vga_draw_graphic in hw/vga.c this is the place where the DisplaySurface buffer is shared with the videoram, when possible; Compared to the last version the only changes are: - do not remove support to dpy_copy in cirrus_vga - change the name of the displaysurface handling functions Signed-off-by: Stefano Stabellini <stefano.stabellini@eu.citrix.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com> git-svn-id: svn://svn.savannah.nongnu.org/qemu/trunk@6336 c046a42c-6fe2-441c-8c8c-71466251a162

qom: Make QOM link property unref optional Some object_property_add_link() callers expect property deletion to unref the link property object. Other callers expect to manage the refcount themselves. The former are currently broken and therefore leak the link property object. This patch adds a flags argument to object_property_add_link() so the caller can specify which refcount behavior they require. The new OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE flag causes the link pointer to be unreferenced when the property is deleted. This fixes refcount leaks in qdev.c, xilinx_axidma.c, xilinx_axienet.c, s390-virtio-bus.c, virtio-pci.c, virtio-rng.c, and ui/console.c. Rationale for refcount behavior: * hw/core/qdev.c - bus children are explicitly unreferenced, don't interfere - parent_bus is essentially a read-only property that doesn't hold a refcount, don't unref - hotplug_handler is leaked, do unref * hw/dma/xilinx_axidma.c - rx stream "dma" links are set using set_link, therefore they need unref - tx streams are set using set_link, therefore they need unref * hw/net/xilinx_axienet.c - same reasoning as hw/dma/xilinx_axidma.c * hw/pcmcia/pxa2xx.c - pxa2xx bypasses set_link and therefore does not use refcounts * hw/s390x/s390-virtio-bus.c * hw/virtio/virtio-pci.c * hw/virtio/virtio-rng.c * ui/console.c - set_link is used and there is no explicit unref, do unref Cc: Peter Crosthwaite <peter.crosthwaite@petalogix.com> Cc: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de> Cc: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@amazon.com> Cc: "Michael S. Same for its variants, except for object_property_add_child(), which additionally fails when the child already has a parent. Parentage is also under program control, so this is a programming error, too. We have a bit over 500 callers. Almost half of them pass &error_abort, slightly fewer ignore errors, one test case handles errors, and the remaining few callers pass them to their own callers. The previous few commits demonstrated once again that ignoring programming errors is a bad idea. Of the few ones that pass on errors, several violate the Error API. The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second call. ich9_pm_add_properties(), sparc32_ledma_realize(), sparc32_dma_realize(), xilinx_axidma_realize(), xilinx_enet_realize() are wrong that way. object_property_add_child(container_get(object_get_root(), "/backend"),
qom: Drop parameter @errp of object_property_add() & friends The only way object_property_add() can fail is when a property with the same name already exists. Since our property names are all hardcoded, failure is a programming error, and the appropriate way to handle it is passing &error_abort. When the one appropriate choice of argument is &error_abort, letting users pick the argument is a bad idea. Drop parameter @errp and assert the preconditions instead. There's one exception to "duplicate property name is a programming error": the way object_property_add() implements the magic (and undocumented) "automatic arrayification". Don't drop @errp there. Instead, rename object_property_add() to object_property_try_add(), and add the obvious wrapper object_property_add(). The interesting changes are: - the new structures and related functions in console.h and console.c in particular the following functions are very helpful to manage a DisplaySurface: qemu_create_displaysurface qemu_resize_displaysurface qemu_create_displaysurface_from qemu_free_displaysurface - console_select and qemu_console_resize in console.c this two functions manage multiple consoles on a single host display - moving code around in hw/vga.c as for the shared_buf patch this is necessary to be able to handle a dynamic DisplaySurface bpp - changes to vga_draw_graphic in hw/vga.c this is the place where the DisplaySurface buffer is shared with the videoram, when possible; Compared to the last version the only changes are: - do not remove support to dpy_copy in cirrus_vga - change the name of the displaysurface handling functions Signed-off-by: Stefano Stabellini <stefano.stabellini@eu.citrix.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com> git-svn-id: svn://svn.savannah.nongnu.org/qemu/trunk@6336 c046a42c-6fe2-441c-8c8c-71466251a162

qapi: Don't special-case simple union wrappers Simple unions were carrying a special case that hid their 'data' QMP member from the resulting C struct, via the hack method QAPISchemaObjectTypeVariant.simple_union_type(). But by using the work we started by unboxing flat union and alternate branches, coupled with the ability to visit the members of an implicit type, we can now expose the simple union's implicit type in qapi-types.h: | struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper { | ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *data; | }; | | struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper { | ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *data; | }; ... | struct ImageInfoSpecific { | ImageInfoSpecificKind type; | union { /* union tag is @type */ | void *data; |- ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *qcow2; |- ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *vmdk; |+ q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper qcow2; |+ q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper vmdk; | } u; | }; Doing this removes asymmetry between QAPI's QMP side and its C side (both sides now expose 'data'), and means that the treatment of a simple union as sugar for a flat union is now equivalent in both languages (previously the two approaches used a different layer of dereferencing, where the simple union could be converted to a flat union with equivalent C layout but different {} on the wire, or to an equivalent QMP wire form but with different C representation). Using the implicit type also lets us get rid of the simple_union_type() hack. Of course, now all clients of simple unions have to adjust from using su->u.member to using su->u.member.data; while this touches a number of files in the tree, some earlier cleanup patches helped minimize the change to the initialization of a temporary variable rather than every single member access. The generated qapi-visit.c code is also affected by the layout change: |@@ -7393,10 +7393,10 @@ void visit_type_ImageInfoSpecific_member | } | switch (obj->type) { | case IMAGE_INFO_SPECIFIC_KIND_QCOW2: |- visit_type_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2(v, "data", &obj->u.qcow2, &err); |+ visit_type_q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper_members(v, &obj->u.qcow2, &err); | break; | case IMAGE_INFO_SPECIFIC_KIND_VMDK: |- visit_type_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk(v, "data", &obj->u.vmdk, &err); |+ visit_type_q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper_members(v, &obj->u.vmdk, &err); | break; | default: | abort(); Signed-off-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> Message-Id: <1458254921-17042-13-git-send-email-eblake@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com>
